Aramus replied to parenzo's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion

@ Quboid I have the same problem since I got a larger screen. I'll try the suggestions offered. Question though: how did you get Simcity to play at 1920x1200? I can only raise it to 1600x1200 and have to deal with the distortion.

hardware could it be your video card? does your video card need and receive enough power? did you recently replace it? the newer ones are more demanding, ie. a 300W power supply is often no longer enough. Also check if it has a power socket or two that need connecting. or as tchaos mentions in the previous post: other options are cpu fan failures and such... check your bios when rebooting and see if it shows the cpu temperature. if it's over ... say 70

Inspiring work, Simgoober! Used the beautiful new Washburn water tower. Noticed that it didn't add to the water supply correctly at first. (usage was 6% while others in my town were closer to 100%). Only after running more pipes through its footprint did the usage jump to a correct 60%+. Just my 2p observations. Looking forward to your future projects!

I've stopped using High Schools in my cities... those bright young kids go straight to (city-wide coverage) college with no complaints being heard anywhere. I doubt that leveling the high schools will save your finances... but a few homes in its place might bring in a few extra tax dollars. keep it going!!

Good evening, y'all Not as ancient as some, older than most, my (computer) life began with an apple ][+, an atari 800XL and a series of pcs beginning with a 486. SimCity is one of those few games that have accompanied me all along beginning with the first one (with the dark red copy-protection code sheets) and continuing with no end in sight. 38 now, architect and still 'wasting' time in this wonderful sandbox! I hope to keep my eyesight all the way to the nursing home and play SimCity 12 (with the deluxe tactile add-on) with all of you. I'd like to thank Simtropolis for the wonderful STEX CD - such a nice gift! - the people at Maxis for making it all possible, my mother for doing what mothers do, the Academy for this nice little golden golem, Al Gore for the internet, John Kerry for the excellent memories, the Co*****************

Nice layout there... I really need to DL those ponds and other greenery. Can't add much to the subway suggestion before. You may want to limit yourself and not allow it in your city - or only within self-imposed limits (one station per year, or only along certain major roads, etc..) What gets me though is the irrational route selection of the sims (even worse than real life people). Your avenue ring around town with the one-way roads next to it... do they use it sensibly? I constantly have to goad (ie. destroy connections to force their choices) the sims to make use of faster ways to get to work. They'd hog a street instead of taking an avenue, just because it seems more direct to them. *growl* ,O) Back to subways: what I found useful is to have the subways connect differently from roads. So while I have neighbourhoods that are connected with one main road carrying most of the traffic, I'll let the subway connect directly between the centers of neighbourhoods... does that make sense without an image? In other words: the cars have to drive to the neighbourhood 'exit', take the main road and enter the target neighbourhood, while the subway may go directly. bla bla bla.. I shouldn't do this from work without pics to illustrate my point.
