Is anyone else having the problem where you download the patches required during the download, install the patch, and the NAM installer doesn't recognize that the patch has been installed? I have installed the patch a dozen times but the installer still says I need the patch (SimCity Update 1.1.638). Any thoughts?

Hey Guys, it has been a long time since I have played SC4 but I used to play CitiesXL until I got so frustrated with how slow it was. With SC5, what turned me off was you couldn't build freeways or even highways with onramps/offramps. With these new tools, are they working up to some sort of expansion pack for SC5 because if they did, I might buy it.

Well, I am very pleased that this franchise is continuing. From when I was a kid until now, I loved Simcity, I remember playing it on my PlayStation years ago. Its very unfortunate EA isn't pursuing it as aggressively as they should. To put this in perspective, my wife is going to give birth to our first baby next week. When she is old enough, I can show her how to play Cities XL. When she asks what it is, I can say "its like Simcity, but not as good."

I am just curious to see if anyone else seems to have this bug where traffic will come to a complete stop on highway onramps. It doesnt matter if its freeway cloverfleaf interchanges or the large avenue t-junction, the traffic density map shows traffic flowing freely on and off the highways, but I have noticed that traffic in some spots simply just back up. Is there anyway I can fix this?
-
Ok, so I take it its not fixable.

I shelled out the $20 for this game and I think its worth it. It keeps my occupied but I really wish we could have some patches or mods that would let us do the following: 1. Make our own highway onramps and off ramps. Having only 2 basic interchange types is annoying to me since I build alot of my cities on highways and not railways. 2. Mkae our highway sings: How many times do I look at the ingame highway signs and think: Those roads arent even close to eachother. 3. Maybe some weather or something for adding waterfalls or lakes would be neat.

Ok, I just bought the 2011 version of Cities XL. The ambient sounds, abilitly to trade with other cities, and basically everything else everyone is telling you is right. It is an improvement over Cities XL. However, the road texturs are annoying because there are no double yellow lines until you put down avenues. There are no new ramps for the freeways and you cant customize the signs. That is basically all my complaints. Everything else is pretty cool.

Does anyone have any pictures of the highway systems? -
Listen, Focus, Please add more freeway interchanges or some sort of options to create our own freeway interchanges!!
-
I am bitting at the bit to buy this game the only thing holding me back is, have they improved the roads at all? Specifically, any new highway interchanges or did they just leave the cloverleaf and T-junction interchanges in there?
-
If they have not im proved the highway situation, then I dont know if I would be buying this game.

I am a big fan of Cities XL, but was dissapointed with the highway tools. Have they added any more off ramps? If not, can you simply create your own interchanges? Also, can you create your own street and freeway signs?

When I first came to Simtropolis, I was a single kid who loved Simcity. I made the donations to get the extra's that I wanted that made Simcity 4 great and I love Simtropolis (I was also the head of the Generic Highway Sign Development Project which enabled everyone to make their own highway signs for Simcit 4). I had no problem shelling out money to get the in game contact that I thought was neat. Now, my wife and I are big fans of Simcity and were hugely dissapointed by Simcity Societis. Cities XL looked very promising and we like the game but when we found out to get the extra's, we had to get the online subscription we were turned off because we dont have access to internet 24/7. We will buy all the expansions packs they make but not if its for online play only. The Planet Offer is neat, dont get us wrong, but we are happy that they are going to concentrate on solo mode. Now all we need is some disasters, new highway features (like making your own highway signs MC, do you hear me????), and we will be set!

Hey Everyone, I was curious to know if there was anywhere I could go to get some sort of air and water purifyer. The in game water treatment plant is, in my opinion, worthless. If anyone has made either an updated water treatment plant or an air purifying plant, where can I get it. Thanks!!!

I am going to have to second Equilibria's idea. When I started the GHSDP (Generic Highway Sign Development Project for you new bee's ), the most frustrating part of the project is that if you wanted to read the signs you made in the game, more than likely the signs were going to be unrealistically large. Though improvements were made, I too would like to see a part of the game that allows you to make signs that we can READ. This, of course, is if the roads are improved upon because if the only options I have for roads are dirt roads, which is awsome, and essentially aveneues that turn on a dime and are not maybe curved or contoured to the surface of the playing world, I really doubt I would run out to get this game very soon. Why? Because if this game is about building socieities, then you can just toss out highways and trains. Immagine a world where Europe or Japan never developed their spectacular train networks. What kind of United States would there be without the awe inspiring interstate highway systems. Entire cultures were build on roads (Rome anyone?). I am not saying the game is worthless, the buildings and all the ideas behind it are SPECTACULAR but we need the transportation networks to get things "moving." - Artforce1 Team Leader, GHSDP PS: What will the system requirements be to run this game?

I hope that the streets shown in MOST of all the posted pics arent the only ones you can use. That would be a VERY big turn off for me. I think that maybe they should do a version of the RHW or maybe a design your own intersection part of the game. That would perk my interest right back up. As it stands now though, It doesnt look like I will be running to the stores for this game.

This seemed like the best place to ask this question. I am about a week away from buying a brand new Laptop. I am looking at a Sony Vaio with an Intel Core Duo Process T2450, Intel 945GM Chipset, etc. My only concern is will the game run on Windows Vista OS? I have seen people going back and forth on the issue here and I just want a straight yes or no anwser. Please help!
