  1. PC too powerful to run SC4?

    So my specs are a ryzen 5 3600 at 4.3ghz, a radeon 5600xt OC 16gb of ram. Whenever I try launching sc4 with the launcher mod it says something about not being able to initialize my graphics card. Every other game works but sc4 does anyone have a solution to this?
  2. I stupidly threw out my charger for my old laptop (Just so happens to have all my sc4 mods on it) so I've been having to download mods onto my desktop. However, one of the mods is causing my game to crash but I really don't want to uninstall all of them again when I don't know which one is causing it. Does anyone use a mod manager that helps them with their mods? or is there a way to figure out which mod is the problem? Really regretting throwing that charger away...

    Nah, I never owned the disk version. I've only played on steam. I went into the launch options and put everything correctly like -intro:off too. Do I have to go into the actual sc4 files and put it in there?

    I'm using the steam version, its fully patched and I have the 4gb patch on it. Thanks for all your help with this.

    It barely even starts. I'll see the SC4 window in my hotbar for a second and then it disappears. I'm using directX and I tried setting up dxwrapper but it did nothing, I assume I did something wrong. Thanks for your help with this I hate SC4 sometimes lol.

    I followed your steps, but sc4 is still crashing. I'm pretty sure I did something wrong but I don't know what, I double checked everything and all the information about my gpu is correct. I tried messing around with the name too and it still didn't help. Does it matter where in the ATI vendor I put it? or the Fast Card?

    Thanks for all the help, I figured out that weirdly changing the rendering from directx to software fixes the problem somehow. I hope this thread can help other people running into the same problem, there doesn't seem to be too many guides on how to fix it. I'd give everything for EA to just optimize sc4 for modern machines but I know that's never going to happen lol.
  8. Do you guys think EA will ever revive SimCity? There's obviously a market for citybuilders as cities:skylines has proved and SimCity 4's active community even though it released a while ago. I think they may revive it in the future but I'm not getting my hopes up.

    So I've always wanted to build a city in the region I live in (North metro of Minneapolis-St paul) because there are some incredibly beautiful places like Forest lake, and the Lindstrom area does anyone know if I have to pay to have a region request fulfilled or is it just kind people doing it for free?

    I simply asked how to get region requests and Jack did my region request for free, plus coming from someone that lives in the region its pretty accurate. It's a beautiful map

    Yeah, large tiles are really overused in map making. It's great that it's almost done, I never expected it to be so fast but im glad you're putting in the effort with this. I'll check out the tips and I'm looking forward to tomorrow thanks man.

    We still haven't won a Superbowl so Brett was the most exciting thing we had lol. The boundaries are like Forest lake, Chisago City and that general area, and terrain is fine its okay if you don't add every body of water (We have a lot lmao) just like the major ones is perfect. If you want to do the northern part of the metro and just add those parts thats okay, but if you don't feel like doing that you can also just do those I don't wanna be too much. Thank you so much for this, since I moved here I always have thought it'd be cool to recreate my city. I really appreciate this

    So I have a city I'm working on and I have a ton of mods installed for buildings, textures, terrain etc. And now all I need to do is add park mods because that's where my city is lacking in does anyone have any suggestions of park mods to use? because I'm having a hard time finding good ones.

    I feel like if they mixed Cities Skylines, SC 2013, and SC4 It'd be perfect. Take either of the styles whichever you prefer, add the industry specialization like in SC 2013, along with the modular construction, the social issues of SC4, with the old multiplayer aspect and a massive region, and the public transit/customizability of Cities skylines. Like in cities skylines you can really make what you want because the roads are forgiving with curves and terraforming is easy plus you could add some new stuff like specialized zones for coastal areas, or a lot more variety in buildings compared to those 3.

    Thank you for all of this I only started modding my SC4 game a few months ago so I'm slowly building my mods list, I wish they could make it more user friendly in steam like how cities skylines is, but you take what you get. Parks are really underrated in SC4 but if you use them right I feel like you could have something that's really amazing.

    Does anyone know if there are any SC4 building packs? It's tiring to keep downloading, and then moving the buildings into the SC4 files but I want to spice up my city I'm working on.

    Thank you so much, I hate individually downloading buildings then moving them to plugins. Also great work on the packs I'll defo use them in my city.
