@takemethere I agree as it is true for majority of cases as I have seen many interchanges in California, where the local vegetation and moss have taken root alongside the roadways. I have seen some interchanges have been well kept and shaven; the first picture you presented to me looks very intrinsic and familiar from where I live as well... Well, I better go off and do some more detailing with my interchanges...

Here is a neighborhood park made with a lot of MMPs and some Diggis stream lots. I figured it would be better if I made it by hand than just using lots for the paths and trees.

Hmmm, you can always build an urban park around that spot if there is absolutely no other alternative for building placement. Overall, I really like the work and style you have put into this piece @feyss!

Here is an interchange loop that I am still working on. I am still thinking about it should blend it more into the terrain... Also coming up with an aesthetic design was exciting once I found the right balance between rock and plants!

Here is a classical four-way clover interchange that runs through Ernestville (which neighbors the City of Riverside to the west of it), and that took a few hours to plan and create. It also took less than an hour to put in MMP's. Inspired from kingofsimcity's style of decorating his roadwork as well!

I am just starting to build my central city now, and for that I went on a downloading spree on the LEX for some high-rise buildings. In addition, I expanded on the highway system and some more landscaping is required... Overall, I am happy on how it is progressing so far.

I really like the combination of farmland and suburbs. I think gives a feeling of being out in the countryside, and away from the clutter and noise from the city-scape.

important Microsoft releases update, blocks SC4 from starting
Artimus commented on Cyclone Boom's article in News
Hmph. No wonder I couldn't start Simcity 4 today. I had just recently downgraded back to Windows 8.1 from Windows 10 a few weeks back and this comes up? This is ludicrous! -
Indeed, I wish I knew how to make proper airports, they're interesting structures to build... Currently, I've only covered a few large city tiles in my region... Still thinking about where things should go...

Some "diamond" interchanges, with some FAR ramps and pieces thrown in to add some realistic aesthetics to a otherwise simple, functional interchange. Doesn't hurt to add some MMP's to cover up some ugly shadows as well!

Maybe I should work in the LEGO Group, I seems to fit my ideal workplace so far... Of course, I could model new sets if I had the knowledge, experience, and necessary education to do so...

Much agreed! Interesting layout and tons of opportunities to turn it to a master piece of urban planning... Also, I decided to start another region, this time with some planning in mind.. (Bear in mind that the red lines means main highways and the yellow line means railways...) I still have to gather more ideas on how to start the sprawl... (I have a backup, just in case of anything!) In addition, this was made in two days from scratch, as I collected ideas from many other people's regions... Well worth the time and effort I must say!

I'm going to revive this thread back to the hot spot so that some more people may see the cool content made by the community... This is some awesome work guys! So much realism and detailing that I can't help but admire... Too bad I can't run on hardware mode... But enough said, here is my contribution to this thread...

Granted.... But the cookies are burnt to a crisp like obsidian, while hard as a rock! Ouch! I wish I have all of the Lego Sets that ever existed...

That is some serious hill grades to build structures on! I cannot imagine trying to drive up those steep hills without having my car breakdown midway! I think a slope mod could suit you, if you are trying to smooth the rough hillside (highly recommended). Also, I see there is some repetition of the same buildings, something that could be worked on, if you have the means to do it, as it would look much better in a aesthetic/realistic sense. Otherwise, it is a good build!

Nicely done 11241036! Looks very laid-back, with a good variety of farms with a small town to complement it. I made a small hamlet that sits between two intersecting roads that fuse into one. What good is a small town without some farmland to add to the realism of things?
-
Here is a simple interchange on a small town, complete with a nearby industrial area surrounded by pockets of farmland. Usually, RHW is still (for me) complicated to use, but I learn a little something from it from every highway build I have done. Cheers!

That is a sweet diagonal interchange you got there MushyMushy! (Is it the FARR pieces you are building as such?) In addition, the powerlines that run parallel to your highway make it (in my opinion) a notch better. I would also suggest putting some MMP grasses that cover the bases of the powerlines, if you would like to. Overall, awesome job!

All of you guys have really interesting designs... I always look to these creations for ideas for my own work. Great job guys! -
I agree! It takes forever for me to paint MMPs. I tend to go full-on detail on one tiny section, it takes forever and rarely give the same effort for the rest of the rivers! Nice region! I don't know why but I could never get away from the rectangular fields, I really like what you've done with yours. Thanks antsel! It is really just thinking about the shapes in an organic fashion, as if the farms expanded in different directions with varying degrees of expansion. I also try not to make them too big, otherwise it'll look ugly and it is inefficient/wasteful in terms of zoning costs and tax income.
-
Hey there! To give a little background history, I have started this region since February, and ever since it was born, it has gone through many terrain and landscaping revisions ever since. At this state, I am (mostly) happy with the way it is coming along so far. However, I am still planning where to put my city location... and it's gonna be a small one, that's for sure!
-
That looks awesome far __B! I especially like the smooth T-shaped interchange you got where the two highways meet. Looks very promising indeed!
