  1. My city looks very monotonous

Interesting. I never knew that existed. But I don't know...I'm afraid I might get bored with it. I wasn't really waxing nostalgic...I was just reminded of the blocky look of certain residential zones in the original game.
  2. My city looks very monotonous

Looking at the OP's screenshots, I'm reminded of how you could only look down on the zones from above in the original SimCity.... the very first version of the game I played on Super Nintendo years ago. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&site=imghp&tbm=isch&q=nintendo+simcity&spell=1&sa=X&ei=iaKFUbL9I5KB0QGY9IGoBA&ved=0CFEQBSgA&biw=1596&bih=773
  3. Abandoned due to commute time.

Someone else can explain this better than I can, but basically residential ploppables don't work....thus they are prone to abandonment. I'll see if I can find an explanation and post a link to it. Okay, here ya' go... and pay attention to what A Nonny Moose said in
  4. Zero Pollution MOD?

Try these: I swear by them. They completely eliminate air pollution in your industrial zones (however, they do NOT work for traffic pollution). You may have to plop more than one, but they are awesome.
  5. Pollution Help

Try plopping a lot of trees and parks in your city, particularly in and around your industrial zones... and try to keep your residential areas as far from the dirty industry as you can.

What exactly are you looking for? Maybe these will work (??).....

Look on this list to see if there's anything which will work for you. Maybe this is something which will work for you:
  8. Question....in order to load the cities of any given region, there needs to be a config.bmp file, a .sc4 file for each city, as well as a region.ini file for that particular region, correct? I've been playing a number of different cities in a region I started (I'll call it Region A) for several months now, and today I just found out there is no config.bmp file in my Region A folder. How can that be? I don't understand how I'm able to load the cities in Region A without a config.bmp file?? Why am I able to play the game if there isn't one there? This doesn't make sense to me. I was wanting to save my entire Regions folder to a backup disk in the event I decide to uninstall the game. That way I can pick back up with my cities sometime later if I choose to. But I know that you need to have a config.bmp file for each region, otherwise the cities won't load. The thing is, I've been making multiple backups of my entire Regions folder since I started playing again last year, and there is no config.bmp file for Region A in any of the backup copies I've made. (I guess I've been wasting my time doing that. ) Here's the weird thing.....I've also started Region B and Region C since reinstalling the game last year, and the config.bmp files for those respective regions are there in the folder for each region. Someone please tell me what parallel universe I've crossed into. Is there a way I can create a config.bmp for the current region I'm playing? And do you have any idea at all as to why I can load the cities of a region that doesn't contain a config.bmp file?
  9. Missing config.bmp

I suppose that's a possibility, but I'm not sure how it would have gotten lost. I can try an indepth search for all the .bmp files on my computer to see if it comes up. I wonder if I maybe deleted it by accident when I was cleaning out all the other .bmp files from my Plugins folder...? But I don't think I included the Regions folder when I did that. However, it's possible....in which case I'll be slapping myself.
  10. Missing tree(?) in city hall

Since you say you use a lot of custom content, I presume your game version is at least 1.1.638...? It sounds like you need to download and install the City Hall fix, found here: If that's not the problem, check your Plugins to see if you have Building Prop Vol1 and Building Prop Vol2. You can find them both at this link: http://screwpile.wordpress.com/screw-pile-exchange-spex/maxis-files/
  11. Missing config.bmp

I don't know what to say. It's not the space I'm concerned about. I have over 850GB free on my hard drive. I just want to make a backup of my current region so I can save it for later, in case I decide to install the game on my other computer....or even this computer, should I need to reformat the drive someday. But yeah, the entire folder for my previous region was backed up, I tried loading it, but all I got was a huge empty square of nothing but grass. The cities didn't show up at all. Now...I did eventually locate the config.bmp file for that previous region, and when I placed it in the respective region folder, the cities then showed up. But what I don't understand right now is why I don't have a config.bmp file for the region I'm currently working on......yet the region loads just fine and I can see the cities.
  12. Yeah, me too. I only have 3 short monorail lines in my city, and they are only used by Sims to cross a river. And believe me, they get used a LOT.
  13. ACP v2.0 By SANYE INDUSTRY

Why is it showing up like this in my game?  There are no dependencies listed, but am I missing something?
  14. I think it happens when people see the month and day, and thus it registers in the brain that the post is recent....??
  15. Oh for pity's sake, you're absolutely right! I feel like a dunce. I'm usually good at noticing things like that. I've been having a bad day (more like a bad week), so that was probably a factor in my overlooking it. Sorry about that....and thanks for pointing that out.
  16. Can't find it?... Ask here!

Here you go: http://kurier.simcityplaza.de/download.php?file=276 Thank you, thank you, thank you SOOOO much. I've been searching all over for it and couldn't find it. I appreciate your help.
  17. Fine, z1. I've edited my initial post.
  18. Can't find it?... Ask here!

Does anyone have a link to the Industry Quadrupler v2.1 ...?
  19. Missing config.bmp

Wow...34 views and no one else has any other words of advice to offer? You guys are hurting my feelings! Where are all the whizzes who understand this game so well? Oh well, never mind. I'll try to figure it out. Thanks for your input, Nonny. I appreciate that you tried.
  20. I think you're being a little nitpicky by including my comment in the group of statements which you claim are incorrect. What I said, for instance, is true. Please re-read my comment and don't misinterpret it this time. I stated that wealthy Sims will generally shun mass transit, period...but that doesn't mean they will NEVER take it. They'd simply rather drive. Whether there is a "slight" preference for driving, or a huge preference, is immaterial. I was correct in what I said...they generally shun mass transit and would rather drive.
  21. I'm not sure where you heard that. As a general rule, wealthy Sims shun mass transit, period...buses, subway, rail. That doesn't mean they will NEVER take mass transit, but they'd rather drive. EDIT: BTW...questions like this should be asked directly to the people who know. Clearly I'm not one of them. I just try to help as best I can, and if I've succeeded, that's great. Most of the time, though, I'm a complete failure.
  22. Missing config.bmp

So then, without a config.bmp file, how do I save my custom region if I want to play it later or install the game on my other computer? Case in point: Ten years ago when I first played the game, I created a region with several cities that I wanted to continue working on recently. I had made backup copies of those cities years ago, but when I went to load them in the game this past Fall, all I got was a big empty region and none of my cities were there. I looked in the backup folder and there was no config.bmp file.
  23. Creationism vs. Evolution

Obviously I don't believe that creation is a myth, nor do I consider the Old Testament to be drivel, for the very reason that Jesus himself referred to the creation account. You yourself stated the laws of physics aren't physical entities. In other words, they are intangible. But if you can accept that the laws of physics have always existed - intangible as they are, by your own admission - why would it be so hard to accept that God has always existed? And as such, why is it so easy to dismiss that He created the universe? If the laws of physics have always existed, they would be an extension of God - not independent of him. Man, 1000 posts and I'm still just an Associate...? *sigh*
  24. Creationism vs. Evolution

Laws aren't matter or physical entities; they are they results of cognitive processes. They aren't material objects, and thus aren't formed in a sense concerning matter. Thus, you can't apply the same rules as you do to matter, to them. For simplicity sake, scientific laws have always been around, it's just that humans discovered (not created) them sooner or later. I understand that. But you're not following what I'm saying. Scientists are asserting that the universe could have come into existence all on it's own, without any particular cause. In other words, they believe the physical universe as we know it simply "exploded" into existence, and they claim the laws of physics could have allowed that to happen. But if the laws of physics could have allowed that to happen, that implies the laws of physics had to have existed before the Big Bang. If not, how could the laws of physics allow something to happen when those very laws didn't even exist? So the question becomes: where did the laws of physics come from? What/who created those laws? It doesn't matter if those laws are physical entities or not. The very fact that they could allow something to happen implies a sense of order...a governing force which allows a reaction to occur in response to a specific action.
  25. Good point.....and it's one I need to remember myself.
