ed_diaz replied to ed_diaz's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
hahaha, yea same thread as my, expect im not overly new since i played SC4 since the day it came out, i just took a 5yr break from it LoL and recently found my SC4 and RH disc's again!! so im totally gonna get back into it too! the amount of modds and add-ons have exceeded anything i would have ever imagine, i stopped playing SC4+RH right around when all these modds and addons started coming out. ...yea same thread as my post...quote> Yes, the two have been merged (with a little cleanup) -CaptCity -

Originally posted by: kingdiz_55 I'd suggest getting at least a 3.0 Ghz processor. I currently have a 2.3 Ghz one and it isn't going well. Specially if you have a lot of plugins and a big city. I'd suggest getting the new AMD Phenom II X4 3.4 Ghz (if you can afford it) it'd really be a great experience for you.quote> really!? wow, you must be playing on a higher resolution, 32bit color with all settings at high, on a large size map. LoL. i plan on playing mostly on small maps and maybe one or two medium size maps, if i play on a large map it'll be my "farmville" town. i also play on low resolution, 16bit color with medium-high settings. I find the one main setting that has a HUGE! impact when i play is the shadow details. when set to medium or high and if i have A LOT! of trees, i scroll at like 2fps hahahha.. but as soon as i put shadow details to low, its like 27fps when scrolling.. its insane the difference, which leads me to believe that the shadow details has something to do with the GPU and not the CPU. im going to pick up the gateway(AMD) laptop today, futureshop has it on sale for $499 and its too good of a price for what it has, im super cheap and i wanted to stay in the sub $500 range and i think this is the best computer for that price. I cant afford a $700 or $900 laptop and like you said SC4BOY, the AMD has the delicated 256mb video memory (and can still share it with the main 4GB ram too! if the video memory runs out) -

so heres a quickly. which would be better Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 2.2Ghz Intel Pentium T4400 2.2Ghz AMD Athlon II 2Ghz M300 or did i just put them in the correct order (guessed it).... these are all sitting on 15" laptops in the sub $599 range with the AMD being the lowest right now at $499. both Intels are using a GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics chip with no dedicated memory and the AMD is using the Radeon HD 4200 integrated graphics chip with 256mb dedicated memory. All 3 laptops are running Win 7 premim64-bit with 4GB ram -

big help, thanks!... maybe that would explain why, my old computer was a Intel Celeron 1.7Ghz.... the wifes laptop is a Intel Celeron "M" 1.6Ghz.. not sure what the "M" is for (maybe celeron "mini" LoL) however i would have thought with 4x the amount of ram on the laptop it would have helped. Should i be right to assume SC4 will run even better then my old computer and the laptop on a AMD athlon II dualcore 2Ghz M300? i understand and have read issues with running SC4 on a dual core. -
Simcity 4 almost unplayable on 2008 laptop yet playable on 2003 desktop?
ed_diaz posted a topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
I havent been back to simtropolis in probably 5yrs!. I wanted to start playing simcity 4+rush hour. my problem is that the game is almost unplayable on my laptop yet i use to play it on my old desktop back in 2003!? and my current laptop is from 2008, how that happen!? My old computer: Windows XP home basic Intel Celeron 1.7ghz 256MB ram Intel 845G graphics controller I use to run the game at like full settings cause i still have screenshots of my old city and the detail lvl was super high, i remember scrolling was not super smooth but it was still playable especially on small maps and the graphics were gorgeous, nice and sharp, all details, shadows etc... My current laptop: Windows Vista home Intel Celeron M 1.6ghz 1GB ram Mobility Intel 945G express chipset on my laptop using full settings i can barely scroll at like 1 frame per sec, its beyond horrible and totally unplayable, on top of that the graphics look like crap, pixelated and everything, textures dont look as good yet its on high and i also notice almost all the buildings are missing a bunch of props and details! yet the settings are on full blast. I have the latest windows update and the latest Intel chip driver.. what in the freaking world is going on that this game was playable on a 2003 computer but not a 2008 computer with 4 times the amount of ram. Any help will be most appreciated! -

how would a AMD athlon II dual core M300 2.0Ghz compare to the Intel i3 2.13Ghz? -

ed_diaz replied to ed_diaz's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
so its the OS, windows vista, thats what i was assuming from the gecko. however im sure there are ALOT!! of people running SC4 on vista without issues, heck some are running it on Windows 7 too just fine. if what you say is true, then every user with a 2008 computer should be having issues LoL and thats not the case. -

it improves the fps and scrolling speed dramatically, but makes it beyond disgustingly ugly!. -

Date: 6/15/2004 2:39:19 AM Author: Ed_Diaz, I don't know what the heck your problem is with mods. You complain about them and boast that 'you don't need any mods' when, frankly, your traffic sucks! I have mods, yes, and hey guess what? My traffic is realistic and I never see any of this unless it is on a highway where there is no other option.quote> what in the world are you talking about?? I havent posted on here in ages! next time you post something refering to someone please Quote it. (i dont have any problem with mods, and i havent complain about anything)
