So I finally got started on my region today. So first off I was trying to get some semblance of the way the real roads run in this area I am working in and grosely failed due to the limits of the angles of roads. I could live with that but then when I got in and started working on a small town area I had more trouble. Spent 20 minutes doing up a nice little pond area only to find out that most of the edges would get wiped out when I lay a building zone 2 squares away. That was annoying to say the least. But I got over it. So then I start playing with the roads. I had a regular "road" intersection that I was centering the town on and then I ran a couple local streets off those, everything cool. Then I did some agricultural areas and wanted to do some of PEG's dirt roads. Well they look great but as soon as I dropped one it converted my connecting street to dirt. No matter what I tried to do I could not get my street back the dirt road kept taking over my streets like some sort of viral infection. I was getting seriously steamed now and decided to just leave all the dirt roads for a few and come back to it later. I figured I would get some water onto the scene and put in a water tower. I then tried to lay my first water pipe and dragged it across a couple of the farms and the dirt roads and.........WTF...crash. Lost everything. Wonderful. One of the reasons I stopped playing this game long ago was that I got tired of losing progress to desktop crashes. I thought the steam version was supposed to be better. I am sure it has something to do with the mods but jeez so far the whole modding process just seems like a big dissappointment. Everything I used failed in some way. I completely stayed away from it for a week because of the stupid road debacle. Not very happy right now.

It's somewhat of a cheat, but if you want your big cities to run efficiently with something as low cost as a Wind Turbine, the I suggest you give the Radical Ordinance mod a try: http://www.simtropol...ordinance-v2-0/ If you want an all in one Water pump, power supply, air purifier & garbage handling facility that's INSANELY crazy then I suggest you get this awesome item: http://www.simtropol...27-ionic-fusor/ I am not looking to change the way it plays, I am fine with the cost and maintenance of a power plant I am just not wanting it to APPEAR that I have a bunch of power plants in each city tile. I want a regional power plant in one city which will basically just be for looks and then have the appearance of substations big and small throughout the other cities which would actually be regular power plants in function but LOOK like substations to keep the FEEL of a regional power grid.

I have been trying to figure out a way to power my region off of one large power complex in a single city tile without having to create extremely complex power deals with neighbors (I don't think I have the skills to acomplish it that way). Then I came up with a way that is pretty genius and thought for sure it had been done already by others here. And it has, only not quite in the way I needed. This is virtually perfect except that in the description it says it does not actually provide power. What? Why would you do that? Dangit. The way these look is awesome. Does anyone know if there is something like this that DOES provide the same services as a power plant? Maybe minus the pollution? I would love to have the full size plant as well as the windmill both as substations. It would make my plan work perfectly.

Can this be made to act like a regular power plant minus the pollution? I saw this and almost soiled pants because I want to have a large power plant on one city tile providing power to the whole region by way of substations but instead of actually having to do the complicated power deals through the region I wanted the substations to quietly do the powering.

Wow, could they have made the RHW puzzle pieces any more frustrating to use? Jebus !! For some reason I always seem to find myself needing to do whatever is the most difficult thing to do whenever I start something like this. All I wanted to do was run a couple expressways through the city before starting to build. Is there some sort of special order to place RHW6 pieces when trying to make a 45% turn? I managed to get one direction to work but can't for the life of me get the pieces to show up to complete the other. I have spent 10k just trying to make one turn in several different piece dropping orders. I can see the pieces I want when out in open grass but they are never available no matter what I do when I get close to the part I want to connect to. I am so frustrated now I'm just gonna watch a movie...I'll check for responces later. Thanks for your help above Capt.

Well that explanation is a whole lot simpler than anything I saw. However, It does not work for me. I must have something installed wrong or something. When I drag the RHW to the edge it asks and I accept the connection but the road reverts to the two lane RHW. EDIT: OK I seem to have been too close to the edge...I started further back and it kept the RH6. However they already had the orange arrows on them. Do I still need the connector pieces? I tried adding them just to see and they both point the same way. (then again so do yours)

Can someone point me in the right direction for a tutorial on how to do the RHW-6 neighbor connections? I looked on SC4Devotion and can't find even the right section of the forum. I have seen a couple older you tube vids but i can't follow what they are doing.

Thanks...I never seem to look over there lol. I find the site difficult to manuever in.

You have a link to that mod? I searched for italia but it did not come up. I have the PEG stuff...it is the closest so far.

The part that sucks for me is that I don't really want to get started on my actual city construction until I get the terrain to a point where I am comfortable with it. It just does not look right and it bugs me lol. I found some varying flora mods that were not intended for wetlands but might have some pieces I can use. I am about to load them up and try them out. I will also look into that coastal one. I have done enough crafting and building in other games to know that while I am technically proficient with the learning and tools, I am artistically defunct. I can't create new things to save my life. I am like a big zerox machine for objects. For instance I did some building in Second Life for a while and used some of the 3d programs like 3dmax, blender, and mudbox. Even taught myself to use photoshop to some extent. My problem is I build what I like and what I like is always something I have seen before...so I copy things. You could give me a picture of almost anything and I could build it in SL. However it isn't very fullfilling to be a zerox. I may eventually play with some things but right now I just want to start playing. I honestly can't believe no one else has created any wetland areas in this game. Has to be out there somewhere. Though I imagine most people do not build undeveloped areas in thier cities. EDIT: Ok I went and looked at the coastal modd. I had seen that one before. It is exactly what I don't want actually. I have enough various ploppable sands that I can create the beaches where necessary, my problem is the large amount of inland waterways in Jacksonville. Those water edges do not have nice bright sandy beaches all over the place. It is typically just grass or weeds right up to the water or in many cases a dark marshy wetland between the buildable area and the water.

Yes exactly, I have a map. I am not going through all that to create a new one with the same issue. I need appropriate textures and flora for the area.

Do you know if it is something that needs to be made or possibly already exists?

Need some quick advise and wondering how to hack boarders

These folks have been diligently picking this game apart to its smallest (allowable) pieces for what, 8 years now, I am pretty confident that it has been looked at many many times. You might be in the wrong game DCMAKER. Some people in here spend YEARS working the same city. -
I wish to do a region based on the Jacksonville FL area. If you google the "Kestner Creek, Atlantic Beach FL" area which is on the Intercoastal Waterway I am looking for some way to replicate that look. The main thing needed is a brown grass like a darker version of the everglades. I would also like a terrain texture set that basically has no "beach" texture...just grass right up to the water. Or possibly replacing the beach color with a darker base color (brownish/brackish) that could be used as the base for the wetlands flora. If anyone knows of some specific mayor ploppables that would apply or if you are creators if you would like to work with me to create a texture/flora mod that would be northern Florida appropriate I would love to chat with you. EDIT: here is a Pic

You know what this game needs badly?

I don't know why they don't just release the ability for someone or anyone to modify the games core files so we could make more extensive modifications and move the game forward.
