Welcome to Ben's Top Ten for Cities: Skylines! For any of you unfamiliar with how this works, Ben's Top Ten will be determined approximately weekly using a scoring formula based on author update to non-author comment ratio pertaining to all the active Cities: Skylines forum CJs during the period in question, with some degree of influence from the previous 3 weeks' activity in each of those CJs. Each week the top ten CJs will be featured. There were 8 new CJs in the first week, and the first number one is Springsteen! Well done to TekindusT, his first BTT number one in a while Welcome to the other seven debut CJs, and no, there is not a mistake, just a tie at number 7. And in a first for BTT, I bring you the second week's chart. Well done to Forkton, which hops up to number one. There are five debut CJs this week - welcome to My Cities: Skylines CJ Scrapbook, Welcome to Great Bay, Jala Valley, Island City, and Fristville. Ben's +10 New Terka by Cool_Z Matar by TabascoJack Diary of a Quilombo by LovelyQuirrel Hadley's Hope by Neofita Malaya State Snapshots by Yayie Citta della Regina by Gurra09 Trastistjikistanimanidan by Gadfly Let's Play Cities: Skylines by CapTon Emptying the river by IL. There are some very talented designers here at ST (just look at the UNIO designs as well as Schulmanator's coins), so hopefully this will be a place to showcase them. The 10 simolean note/bill of Ellis Valley is a mini showcase of one of my bigger cities: Port Sinclair, with its motto of 'Industry and Safe Harbor'. The front: a tall ship celebrates the merchant shipping of Port Sinclair's past, the lighthouse represents safe passage into the port, and the cogs are symbols of industry. Security features: large cogs embossed, multiple small cogs, silver thread with the word TEN printed on each exposed section, lower right 10 is a hologram. ...and the back: the main image focuses on modern industry, and the ship's wheel represents maritime activity. An easy-to-read contrasting 10 is helpful to those of poor sight. Further security features: watermark of the lighthouse image on the left side, the lower left 10 is textured, there are multiple small 10s at the bottom of the note, and the background in the oval is a different color to the rest of the note. All comments/feedback welcome, and if you have you own money to show please go ahead and post!

Earlier this year (when I was working on the Trixie Element tables) I realized that Simtropolis would be having its 10th birthday, and I wanted to do something to celebrate it. I always start a new BTT around Christmas... so here's Ben's Top Ten, Time Machine edition. I am going back through time to sift through the CJ forum. The first one fell on Christmas Day 2003. Congratulations to Toronto, the first BTT number one on record. Obviously many CJs don't have images any more, but there's always one from the top ten. This week's image is from San Francisco. [Caveat: until early in 2005, many CJs were lost in the big purge, so some that you may remember from 2004 will be missing]. Enjoy, and happy 10th anniversary, Simtropolis.

This land was home to several notorious pirate raiders a few centuries ago, but today is much calmer and is now a haven for agriculture and quiet small town life. Despite the apparent calm and quiet, if you are patient and look closely enough you can uncover the most devious plans and cunning deceptions... Episode 1The school children of the Valley typically learn the names of the pirate towns from south to north of the Ellis River (Readmar, Anbonn, Blackbar), however our look in on the mayors of Ellis Valley is going to start in Blackbar. Jimmy Fallon is the young mayor of this remote town, and hasn't really accomplished much during his term in office. To date he is most proud of transforming this messy 5-way junction.... ...into this nifty roundabout... Mrs Edna Church, who lives in this up and coming neighborhood is less than impressed with Mayor Fallon. She has lots of ideas on how to improve Blackbar, and she plans to invite the mayor for tea very, very soon... Next: Stablehand shennanigans {4 dec 06} -
