  1. ------------------------------------------- Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4000+ or better or Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2.0GHz or better Operating System: Windows XP/Vista/7 RAM: Windows XP: 1.5GB Windows Vista and Windows 7: 2GB PCs using a built-in graphical chipset are recommended to have 2GB RAM Graphics Card: ATI X1800 or better* nVidia 7800 or better* Intel 4100 Integrated Graphics or better* DVD-ROM: 8x or better ---------------------------------- My old system had a AMD Quad Core, 4GB of RAM, nVidia 9800GT 1.5GB and the same speed DVD rom drive. Is the new SimCity really going to run good on such dated specs? Or are these the dirt-minimum specs so the game will open and barely function? When I get my new system made you bet it's going to have way better specs than what is listed here. Of course I'll wait for another 6 months or so before I start looking for that new top-shelf system to run this game. What do you all have planned in the way of a new computer system to handle this and other new games?
  2. Synekism - A New City Simulation Game

Sweet thanks for the info. I seem to over complicate things sometimes. I'll probably need to know more as coding is a picky thing. Strangely enough, I started my own thread under the Boomtown section of the simtropolis forums. here's the direct link to that topic: It's a new project I started a few weeks ago so it isn't much for now. Let me know what you think. Thanks again
  3. Synekism - A New City Simulation Game

Synekism, Yelmond. I've been watching this game for a while and I like the freedom to build at all angles as well as the free range camera to view the city from any POV. I have just recently discovered this thread on simtropolis and am glad to see such a large interest in your project. I do have a question on how you make your road network system. I am thinking about a link-and-connector system for my project, but it's a matter of connecting them together in a stable but efficient manner. I'm just wondering how you guys did that exactly. If you guys don't want to give away the techniques you use then that's ok as I am just exploring options at this time. if you are interested in seeing what I have so far, PM me, or let me know it's ok to post the forum link in this thread.
  4. Guillaume, you're telling me that if I wanted to have a road that I made to "connect" to a city next to my 2x2 map, I can't do that?
  5. Even though SC13 won't be like this, the people at maxis need to see this video anyway.
  6. If there are ads in the game such as on billboards....then online play should be free, PERIOD.
  7. I just had this thought 30 seconds before I started to type out this topic. Why not make the new SimCity compatible with the 3D TV's for a more immersive experience? Some may call this gimmicky but I would love to see this new game with all the latest bells and whistles. Wouldn't you?
  8. I wonder if the glassbox engine will take advantage of the CUDA cores on the GeForce cards.......any info on this?
  9. Make SimCity(5) 3D

when I looked up Glasses-Free 3D tv on youtube I got this........ All I can say is, Dear Santa.......
  10. But Terribletown, I want to drive around in my 3D city and cause all kinds of shenanigans! Don't blow that for me dude...
  11. Discussion about City Tile Size

I would like to see larger tiles for cities, but I can handle the 2x2 sized tiles if the surrounding tiles are pseudo-rendered so I can do camera angles really close to the ground that look out into the far distance to give the impression of the grand scales.....especially for the night shots and the distant lights that would be visible for miles.
  12. Who am I kidding........I'm already sold on this game......can't wait for more details though-
  13. SimCity: Gameplay

So far what Tickleonthetummy has stated, I am really starting to like what I read about this alleged SC5.....So far I am really hoping that my previous post was nothing more than just a knee-jerk reaction by a SimCity addicted fanatic that has been let down so many times in the past. I think I'll stow my pitchforks and torches until more is released on this up-coming title.
  14. SimCity: Gameplay

As a rabid fan of the Sim City series, I am always interested in a new game made by Maxis. But if this is to be Sim City 5 and it's a steaming pile of crap like Sim Societies was, then I will boycott Maxis and EA's products until they redeem themselves with a proper sequel. But I am holding out real hope that SC5 will be mostly what we all hope for. But if not, we should show Maxis and EA that we are not messing around and that we are tired of being let down time after time. They have run out of excuses, now it is time for them to deliver. PERIOD.... Who's with me????
  15. DERP! I have the Sku2_European folder.....this answers everything. I had a friend give me his CD and I assume he got it while he was in the UK for a while. Figures.... Any chance on getting the Sku1_US folder legit anywhere? EDIT: The NWM streets work like a charm as the should now. At least this isn't a new bug or something. Thanks for the assist!
  16. CaptCity, how can I check....I'm really not sure on how to do that...
  17. I always made sure that I am installing/using the U.S. right-hand-version for street traffic.
  18. Tarkus, the green strips I am referring to are the strips you see when you go to the overlay portion of the menu. You know, to see police coverage, pollution amount, and traffic congestion. When I view the traffic congestion overlay, the NWM pieces do not have the green network strips the regular SC4 streets would.
  19. I have NAM version 30, and the newest NWM. I did a complete delete of the folder for NAM which also took care of the NWM mod as well. I did a re-install of the NAM 30, and NWM 2.0 and the problem still occurs. I also made sure to install the traffic simulator as well. Any other ideas?
  20. I downloaded and installed the NAM mod first. It works great, no problems. Them I downloaded and installed the NWM mod, and it seemed to be going great with all the new street types showing up as they should. Then I made a little city layout, put some houses, commercial, and industrial down and now I got car zots on houses on the NWM street types. I also showed the traffic overlay on the street grid to show that there are "green strips" missing from the NWM street tiles. What is the usual culprit when this happens? And yes, I downloaded and installed the 2 patches linked on the first post of this thread. I tried to attach a .jpg image but the uploader is being a pill. Maybe I can upload it later. Thanks-
  21. Carew Tower

Great work, Though it is rather sad that 49 stories (was) the tallest building we had for a long time. Our city slogan for Cincinnati is "Cincinnati: The city that tried!"
  22. Costco Retail

Welcome to costco.......I love you.... (get the reference?)
  23. Show Us Your Anti-Grid!

After what I seen from abracadabraz85 did I went ahead and made my own "little non-grid city". Too bad the traffic is a bit of a jam near the off ramps. Looks nice though I attached the image as a 800x450 jpg file as well.
  24. Crash To Desktop

I'll try to add something to try. Go to your application properties by right clicking on the SC4 icon and add the command: -CPUCount:1 For example I have this as my shortcut link: "C:\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -f -intro:off -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x32 -CPUCount:1 This forces SC4 to only use one CPU on dual/quad core systems. This is really useful if you don't have the affinity option. So far my copy of SC4 deluxe seems to be running much smoother and hasn't crashed yet. I can only hope this is a permanent fix for me as well as others. (btw, playing SC4 on a 32" HDTV monitor @ 1080p is schweeeeeeeeet!)
