wolverine: As for going from gmax to 3dsmax: Have you tried going through Deep Exploration? (A 3d-content management program). Just use gmax to export out an MD3, and use Deep Exploration to convert to 3ds. The only downside is that Deep Exploration truncates the file paths, so you'll have to reassign your bitmaps to your materials in 3dsmax. XRefs, too. BTW: Am I the only one that laughed out loud at that guy on the left in your first picture? The expression on his face.. priceless, man.
  2. Tokyo Metropolitan Government Center by Meta

I re-up'd yesterday afternoon. All bugs should be fixed.
  3. Wish Corruption - Take 2

You wouldn't be able to nourish your body, and you'd eventually die! I wish I had a 1024mb Radeon graphics card.

EQ - LOL! I waa waiting for Windspear to take the screenies!
  6. Tokyo Metropolitan Government Center by Meta

Sorry, guys - the purple aura's from Photoshop. I waited three weeks for permission, and received none. (Meta's not active right now)
  7. NDEX Windspear Arena by Eburress

    Incredible, EQ. Just plain incredible.
  8. If it's not too much trouble, could you guys model a quick cylindrical foundation for the radio telescope? I like it, but I want to be able to place it on hills and still have it look good.
  9. Heres an attempt at powerpoles

trolca - I have an idea for how the cables might work, assuming there's a way to make S3D models conform to the terrain. I have tested it for catenary wires and it works pretty well. PM me if you wanne know more. As for not showing up, are you using a Type 0 Resource Key? And if you are, have you added a kSC4ModelRotationProperty? Using these 2 properties should clear up your problem. Oh, 1 more thing - type-21 exemplars are confusing. You must make sure you put a powerpole prop in every type-21 LotConfig, for every zone and wealth level.
  10. Pass the Bunny V 2.0

*throws a KFC bucket full o'water into the Tomahawk's barrel* *retrieves now soaking wet bunny* *accepts fact that DT will never show his face in this thread* *throws bunny into the fires of Hell to dry it off* *the_jersey_devil is running to pick it up*

Sweet! Club membership! That's right... 2 minutes before the stroke of midnight on New Year's Day.
  13. The Portland & Oregon BAT Team, Chapter 1

Well, it's typically more than just drawing. You're drawing to try to capture the sense of the area - which most often includes proper scale, accuracy, etc. It may sound fun, and to most architecture students, it is somewhat fun. Why do you think they're studying architecture in the first place? If they didn't enjoy it, they'd be in journalism.
  14. mipro Barry Sanders Project

That's awesome, wolverine! Does it use fractal geometry, or does it just look that way? Since my planned career, like many other BATters here, is Arch., I've been looking at colleges. I know you're kind of biased, wolverine, but how is the Arch school in Ann Arbor? It's a strong contender for me now, especially since I visited there last year with my family and liked it very much. I'm also considering ND, Virginia, and Carnegie-Mellon.

Ah... rapid prototyping. That stuff is cool! It takes several hours {rapid indeed!}, but if you film it and play it back quickly, it just looks like it's appearing out of thin air. They have one of those machines here at the MSI. Pretty cool to watch.
  16. The Custom Member Label Club

Hey, cool! I never knew there was a thread for this! [/enthusiasm] I'm thankful for this incredibly cool member label
  17. Buckingham Fountain

    No, they're horses with whale-tails.
  18. Post Modding Requests Here

Erm.. wagons, carts, etc? They had those in 1000 AD. Not to mention horses.
  19. NAM: Development

Pretty cool coincidence, then, that you didn't even have cjmarshall's discovery in mind. Another cool coincidence: 5 minutes after I read your post, the idea for back-to-back TE lots popped into my head! I didn't test it, though, so the credit goes to you. Great minds think alike, I suppose. BTW: Does anyone know the flip of a type-32 RUL connection? For anyone curious, rail switches take up two tiles. The edge in the middle has type-32 connections on a left switch. I don't know the equivalent value for a right switch.
  20. NAM: Development

Sweet! (Technically, it's not your discovery, but rather cjmarshall's) A Chicago El-Rail station will come out soon, as will a Puzzle-Piece tollbooth!
  21. I made a version of the Fountain of Latona. Search for Buckingham Fountain on the STEX. You can then use the Plugin Manager to turn it into a prop so you can put it on your lot.
  22. Poole, Diamond and Associates BAT Showcase

I keep working, Dragon. I just can't render Santa Fe yet, but it's COMPLETELY done in gmax. I was supposed to go buy a 512mb RAM chip this weekend, but I missed the computer show. Damn! I'm currently working on nightlighting for the Smurfit-Stone building in addition to my NDEX projects. It will be full nightlighting, ala the most recent NDEX releases. That's something I CAN render.
  23. Post Modding Requests Here

In short, no. In SC4, putting jobs on a lot means decreasing the demand. Think about it. Demand = Residential population-Industrial and Commercial jobs. Plopping a lot with jobs increases that ratio.
  24. NAM: Requests

Technically, there is no electricity in SC4. It's just a little thing in the exe that says that lots must be either contiguous, or connected by power lines. Otherwise, you get No Power zots and eventually dilapidation. Because of this, ALL lots conduct electricity. Water is slightly different with the coverage radii, but the basic principle is the same: utilities aren't Transit, so they don't need a Transit I/O property.
  25. EuroStoplightsMOD

Date: 1/26/2005 7:14:10 PM Author: Mexicanboy13r hello since you know how to move the lights? I was wondering if you could make the aves. street lights across the street instead of right in front.. In the US it seems much better .. Just wondering If you had the time.. you do not need to tho.. quote> Not possible. AFAIK, the stoplights have to be on the same tile as the stop paths they control. Otherwise, they won't be able to switch. Since avenue intersections have more than one tile, you'd have to move the stoplights off their associated tiles.
