hkabat-forum-threads Massively Gigantic Japanese BAT Gallery
ardecila replied to Odainsaker's topic in SC4 - Custom Content
Can you post pics of this Diet Building and the Tokyo Central Station? I think the Diet building is the one that adjoins the Metro. Gov't Center (which I translated and uploaded). Is this right? I thought that that building hadn't been BATted. -
3D Studio Max BAT Version 2 Released !!
ardecila replied to GouRou's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
Does this BAT work with Max 8? If not, I'm screwed.... EDIT: You have no idea how angry I am right now. -
Those weren't any good, because instead of dividing the highway, he just took each piece and made a puzzle piece out of them, and some of those pieces have both left and right sides on them. If the attachment is still there, though, I'll take a look.

Yes, this thread should def be stickied. Oh, and we'll soon have an NDEX contribution to the stations. I believe DT posted pics of it in his thread... ?

Yeah, the name's gonna be kind of awkward. I was thinking - "Road over Multihighway".

The Portland & Oregon BAT Team, Chapter 1
ardecila replied to sparkythepenguin's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
Porkissimo also uses 3dsmax. In gmax, using too many multi-materials will make your buildings unrenderable. -

The Portland & Oregon BAT Team, Chapter 1
ardecila replied to sparkythepenguin's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
Yeah - if you use the mirror tool, gmax thinks it's mirrored geometry and it produces that bug. If you attach it to another object (note - NOT attach another object to it), the geometry becomes as normal as that object. -
Right now, the stuff that's in the pipeline doesn't need any hints, because it's already been shown to people. Doesn't it make sense that we must finish the stuff we're working on before we can begin any new, secret projects? So, in short order: Freeway Transition DT's Houses possibly the NDEX Television Centre, if Gary gives permission maybe the British Rail Modd, if Kev ever returns and a few other miscellaneous lots, all of which have been shown in some form or another already

Operation Buffalo Wing: A Blizzard of BAT
ardecila replied to Sabretooth78's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
Alright - having buildings overhanging a lot is NOT a good idea. This can and sometime does lead to a major bug wherein the lot can be demolished but the building itself cannot be. Take the .3 meters off and save us all the agony. -
Alright, here we go! This is my first actual working puzzle piece! It works perfectly - I had worried that there would be some problems involved with the multi-highways - not so! Now I just have to make the avenue piece and the two one-way pieces. This will definitely be included in the next NAM, as it is such a simple addition. I may also see about a splitter piece so you don't have to use ugly one-ways to connect a normal highway to a split highway.

okay, looks good. I must have modded it to a GLR version myself.... Also, that station isn't quite perfect, since the trains run between two platforms instead of around one, on the outside. I could change that, but it would require a new BAT model for the station. Oh, and I'm currently working on a puzzle piece for road, avenues, and oneways under multi-highways.

The Portland & Oregon BAT Team, Chapter 1
ardecila replied to sparkythepenguin's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
@Sparky - I know what it is, I know what it is! I'll let the others guess it, though. Speaking of projects that've been on the books since the beginning - how about Waddle's? -

Take a look at the Southwest, the king of North American deserts. You start off with the bread-basket farmland of Oklahoma, then you go into the Texas Panhandle, which is completely flatm but with grasses and such - i.e. range land/cattle country. Thenas you leave the Panhandle and go into New Mexico, the grass eventually thins out and the terrain starts to become less flat, with washes and gullies (arroyos). Eventually the grass gives way to some sparse clumps of tall grasses, and thus you have desert. The absolute coolest thing is approaching Tucumcari, where a huge mesa rises up out of nowhere, after you've seen 700 straight miles of flatland.

You can get way closer than that. Gmax shrinks the render to fit in your screen. Hold down Ctrl, then click on the zoom-5 render. It'll zoom in.
-
Yes, it will work. In fact, there's a station in the Japanese BAT thread that is meant for just such a configuration. It can and does work. EDIT: Here's a link to the station.

KY - this thread is about cheat codes, not cheat lots. We've known all about cheat lots for a long time now.

Weee-llllll.... there aren't too many single buildings of this size and height in Chicago, let alone the world. However, I would very much like to BAT some of Chicago's warehouses (which are usually smaller than this, BTW). They keep getting turned into lofts and losing the whole 1920s industrial feel.

If the obstacle to that is because jestarr made the train cars in gmax, I'd be happy to export them out of gmax and into S3D format for y'all. I can't help you on the Effects Directory (really), but we can easily replace the existing flatbed, and the containers that go on it. It's about time we had a freight makeover anyway. Maxis' cars are too short and stubby.

Real Highway (RHW) - Development and Support
ardecila replied to qurlix's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
I'm not sure a 9-tile box would be doable. You see, the game has a 16x16 limit for interchanges. The 9x4 interchange would fall within those limits, but you have to include the ENTIRE interchange (all sides). That would make it an 18x8 interchange. I dunno how easy it would be to modularize these interchanges so that each corner could be plopped at will.- 3,919 Replies
