  1. So I'm not referring to the Second Amendment (the right to bear arms) of the United States of America. In my search to resolve an issue that I previously had with SC4 CTD I stumbled upon dat-packing using wouanagaine's SC4 Dat Packer Utility found here . Since I still download lots of content part of my process is to "pack" after I've thoroughly tested for compatibility. Recently I've decided to use the DAMN menu and ended up using my "unpacked" directories to try and fix some little glitches I was experiencing with those DAMN menus. My question is this: How many people are still packing? Does it make sense these days to continue packing? I mean our CPUs and GPUs have come along way since the SC4 Dat Packer Utility was published. Is it still being used by the community? BTW, I use Startup Manager since there are scenarios where I don't want to load certain plug-ins.
  2. SC4Devotion - Server Upgrade

Was wondering about this today. In as much as this is a separate forum from SC4D its is just as important. Simptropolis, SC4D, and Simpeg - must visit sites for SC4 fans. Each has its strengths and its usefulness.
  3. What to Name My Citys?

This is what I do. I would take a name from one of the history books and mash with the terrain. Lo and behold we have Jefferson Flats or Sherman Hills.
  4. Here's a Howdeedo.

I use SC4 Watcher (by Doc Rorlach) to automatically do backups when I play. It has saved me frustration a few times.
  5. New to SC4 please help.

Welcome to ST! Check out these threads: https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/topic/43499-extremely-overwhelmed-yet-drawn-like-a-bug-to-a-
  6. I followed Rochefort's methodology and was able to hit 1,055,052 in one city.
  7. TLA Center Turn Lane Arrows

Tx. This is exactly what we use in Seattle!!!
  8. Let's not forget Simpeg.com. Simpeg.com, Simtropolis and SC4devotion.com are what I consider the triumvirate of SC4 sites. If you never ever visit any other sites outside of them - you will miss nothing.
  9. Riprap Seawall Addon

    Yeah! Diagonals for my seawalls!!!
  10. Good job and congratulations!!! Are you using CAM? Would you mind listing the mods you are using? Thanks, Vern
  11. I'm experiencing a texture issue with JRJ's Breakwater lot. When I try to lay down a street in the middle channel of the single set lot it breaks like the picture below. Anyone know how to fix this? I isolated this mod by itself and I still get it - thats in a new tile. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  12. Yeah, I put up a post up there and here, too. Where can I get the older version from? Rayden at SC4Devotion made the file available temporarily at http://www.fileden.com/files/2011/4/21/3119650/SimCity4/JRJ_BreakWaterCommon%20Props.zip . I just added the missing folder and the it was fixed. I didn't have to do anything else. Thanks again for helping isolate the problem, Capt!!!
  13. It would be nice to see the Omnibus article restore though.
  14. TuLEP Texture Mod

Just what my cities needed. Thank you from my Transporation Secretary.
  15. In Praise of the Urban Sandbox

No longer available without a login.
  16. Yeah, I put up a post up there and here, too. Where can I get the older version from?
  17. Tx Capt. I have the dependencies stated in the readme and although it wasn't the one you mentioned, I had that, too. It looks like the original mod's dependencies were changed later.
  18. Looks like you need a login. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  19. Plugins need Weeding?

I myself am on a water kick at the moment. What seawalls are those, BTW? Nevermind..LOL..I found them...Riprap seawalls FTW.
  20. Mass transportation strategies?

I do the same as Moose in that I give my cities a startup fund that gets repaid when the city is in black. I've been experimenting with using OWR as often as I can. This has worked well for me.
  21. Plugins need Weeding?

Try looking at the SUM. https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/files/file/21376-sc4-startup-manager/ I use the SUM to limit what gets loaded into memory. While it does nothing to reduce the size of my plugins folder, it does help me manage memory resources better. Why load up CAM when I'm not going to need it on a SPAM tile? It also allows me to create a development profile so when I do want to use LE I won't load the whole plugins folder - just the one's I want.
  22. Photovoltaic Power Plants

Way cool! I'm snagging these for those green tiles!
  23. MU

From a fantasy point this is awesome. If real people can live in Palm themed islands (Dubai) then why not MU theme? Great job!
