Maastricht, The Netherlands, real-life CJ by Uumke
Cockatoo replied to Uumke's topic in SC4 City Journals
That's a cool little town you've got goin there. Keep at it! -
hmmm... the graphics look like a photo of a model town on a desk and the layout's not that good at all. I hope SC5 looks nothing like that but I'm sure a EA will do a great job!
-
Even though I don't uesaly think low-wealth low density homes look good you sure pulled it off! Great small town, I'll look foward to more

This sure is a very nice City Journal. Some of the pictures on the first page blew my away and I'm looking foward to more. I think this CJ has the potential to get really big so keep working on it! One of my fav new CJ's
-
Well, you have a very nice region to start off with! Sound's like a good start to you're CJ. Keep it up By the way, It seems this is you're first post so welcome to Simtropolis
-
This is coming along great! You're port is very nice. I'd add some beaches or something arround the downtown area and demolish thoes abandond buildings on the peninsular
-
Meh...I don't really like the suburban sprawl, It just doesn't look that great to me. I perfer open natural areas with beaches ect or Large cities with lots of park space
-
northsider1983: Yes, I have exactally the same problem I guess you just have to plop them because most fo the Maxis block buildings really do suck! interpol: You get the 3D effect by making a mirror image of your screen shot in Photoshop of some program like that What's this... More Asian city goodness- It's my railway city
-
Dalton: Thanks for the good feedback on my last pic, got me thinking about rail again... Here's my new town. The main feature it a 5-6 tile wide railway/park that snakes it's way throught the city EDIT: Here's a new Idea for the N.A.M. How about a 1x5 or 1x6 on-slope piece so that you can build gradual rail slopes over a higher cliff edge?

Deever: That's a cool city but I wouldn't have put sucha huge cliff in - 7.5/10 Moomoo: Only ONE pic per post but they all look pretty good. I like the first one the most, all up I'll give you a 8.5/10. Football_fever: Looks a little strange but It would have been a great natural area if you haddn't but in a super tall tower - 6/10 Suomi2005: That's a really cool downtown area you've got goin there. You got the WTC base props going! I tried so hard to do that, it didn't work - 8/10 Mulefisk: Nice... 9.9/10 ILL Tonkso: How the... 40,000 people? That beats my record by about 30,000! 7/10 for the image. The_sanderson: Nice water texture- 7.5/10

You should have all the building sets turned on just to maks sure. I don't know because the instructions are in Japanese, by the way the only way to get a 5X5 zone in SC4 is to use Ctrl (It's not a shortcut)
-
You have to zone 4X4 or 5X5 blocks of medium or high density residental zones. This should grow the houses stright away. (You can zone large blocks by holding down the Ctrl key if you don't already know)
-
Taurus702B: The japanese houses aren't on the STEX but there on Somy's Japanese site (the small streets are actually part of the building)- http://members3.jcom.home.ne.jp/somy000/p7.htm crazyyaya: I'm not sure what you mean but I don't think there's modd that dose that. I downloaded packs of buildings that kinda the same but different.
