3 pointsReplies: Schriefer: Thank you, I've finally got a good idea of how to create rivers plus the surrounding scenery. However there still quite a few things to polish up. Vitor13: Thanks. sargeantcm: It is good but there are some rough spots which I'm not happy with, there is definitely room for improvement. C4RACORTADA: Thank you. Huston: Waterfalls are so hard to get right. I use the JENX Poseidon mod and one problem is that you cannot fully cover up the waterfall tiles with MMPs. At a glance it looks all smooth, but close up you can see the gaps! MariusMR: Cheers! Tonraq: Sexy? Hmm, I never saw my waterfall as sexy. Schulmanator: You have a knack for nature pictures to. Roman_Samudra: You know your comment has given me the idea of creating a course for rally racing. I'll add that to my list of things to do in my project list. tankmank: You're damned right, it did take many hours to produce something presentable! Canyons and MMPs do not go well together during implementation! blunder: Thank you for the PMs. city89: Thanks. 89James89: The stone plateaus were the most fun to create. Update 26: Stokesley- Toral's Peak It's been a while since I published a mountain entry. I'll start this one off with a few pictures of the winding road which leads to the start of Stapler's Path, the main footpath which leads to Toral's Peak. Lower Stokesley. Upper Stokesley. Toral's Peak. A very old dormant volcano, tens of thousands of years ago a powerful eruption blew off the top third of this mountain. Successive ice ages proceeded to sculpt out the three sides of Toral's Peak. Each side once bore a corrie from where a glacier originated. Now the only remnants of the glaciation are two meltwater lakes. However while Toral's Peak is not volcanically active, the magma chamber below still superheats the water. With the vent fully blocked the only release for the water, as it condenses higher up inside the mountain, is through one old fissure- the mountain's weak spot. During long periods of rain the waterfall rages, but during dry periods it can slow to barely a trickle. In essence this waterfall is more akin to a very large spring situated above a huge aquifer. Stapler's Path begins at Upper Stokesley. Goatswater lake, the ground below the water is rather porous and the water seeps below before evaporating when it reaches the magma chamber deep below. Sometimes, during periods of heavy rain, the lake can swell to twice its size and sometimes even spill over. Stapler's Path splits in two here, there is the North side and the South side. In this entry we will walk up the South side and go down the North side in one large loop. It is at higher altitudes where the Berner Oberland terrain mod and the ARDEN tree controller really begin to shine. The imposing West side of Toral's Peak. The North side... The ARDEN tree controller in action, it produces amazing results at high altitudes. Please note; I use the evergreen inland version. Travelling down the North side of Stapler's Path. /// The next several entries are going to alternate between Stokesley, Treblane and of course night pictures. During this time I will be working on another city; a mixture of light industry, retail parks and agriculture.

2 pointsI'm surprised that they would even need such a petition and that that isn't already the normal state of affairs...
-
2 pointsAmerican culture is much more violent than I remember. Not my cup of tea, thanks. I don't want some, I've already had any.

2 pointsEast Tenne: The Adventures of Lawyer Cat Lawyer Cat has been at it again. There has been a big fuss over in the Theater District of the capital... Frankly, I am not sure what they were complaining about... it looks fine to me! Lawyer Cat will be bringing this to the Supreme Wirdle for a ruling forthwith! Wirtyplace, the seat of power of Schulmania, home to the Supreme Wirdle As Lawyer Cat approached the entrance, he was accosted by a group of feline petitioners and asked to take a petition from them to the Supreme Wirdle as well. The petition was from the felines in the capital and is directed toward the humanoids in the National Capital Region. He agreed to carry the petition in with him. In case you are a humanoid, you'd better see the petition... We'll see what her rulings are in these two cases soon!

2 pointsTime to show some of the interchanges i built for the past couple of months... Click for full size. Sorry for the "footer", I don't know how to hide it before capture. First, some urban interchanges... This one lacks only one link. I like this one, but it lacks two links, and the top-left link isn't smooth enough. Spaghettis. 8C -> L2 6S x L1 RHW2 -> DDRHW-4 6S T-bone. Some more rural now... A classic trumpet between 6S/8S and 6C. Another trumpet with less capacity. Tried to do a T-bone with FlexFly and FlexMIS. Interesting, but not very stable Hope you enjoyed them.

1 pointThe clue here is concentration. Not only do you need larger lots (4 x 4) but there should be fewer other commercial lots. If you give the simulator a chance it will spread its attention. So, zone a few high-density 4 x 4 lots around the intersection where you want your CBD, and zone residential all around it. Previous posters have shown you how to make a watch, but you only asked for the time.

1 pointMrs M3, can I ask you question if you don't mind? Why you always order hot cocoa (as far as I could remember)? Are you cocoa fan? Also, what sounds cool? The "360 doughnut" or an actual garlic doughnut that I wanted to order to sides my soup?

1 pointThat is EXCELLENT info Mr. Moose! Ill get starten on that this evening, may take a day or so for the scene and i will work closely with the kkDragon on any details that may need adjusting before the event!. I sure hope Romano can make it and to spread the word to let others in the forum know of Mary's Big Day and join the dinner reception here at "The Great Room" - it sounds ever so eloquent! Whatever gave you that idea? The autobar dealcoholizes any drink for people who are not allowed to have it, but we stock a full bar. We guessed you meant the small meatballs that properly go in a soup. These are made of lamb, flavoured with caraway and harissa. We used regular button mushrooms in preparation of the soup adding a few shiitake near the end. Enjoy. After your meal and tea, maybe you might enjoy this Singapore Sling? Yes, Mr Moose, I'll enjoy the Lamb Meatball soup and mushroom. I'll take that. Also, since you allow liquor and suggest Singapore Sling,I think I'll order another drink... Vodka Martini, shaken not stir, James Bond's favorite drink (Sorry for harsh word, sir) LOVE the spoiler ! That brings LIFE to that post for sure, Romano!

1 pointUse of deadly force should be a last resort, not a first response. How about hold the miscreant at gun point and call the cops? What ever happened to citizen's arrest?
-
1 pointIt was the SCOTUS that made stand your ground laws possible. In certain instances, one is authorized to use deadly force as a first line of defense. Additionally, this incident happened in a house. Every state except Pennsylvania has some form of Castle Law that allows for heightened violent response from the homeowner. (Pennsylvania is planning to add such a law.) We are talking about stuff that is almost a century old. The concepts are well - established.

1 pointEnjoy your breakfast. The "ballroom" is called "The Great Room" it has a fireplace that takes up most of the North wall, a small stage in front of that for a head table, and general table seating for 10 per table. The usual white damask service and a special China dinner service made at Limoges, France in the early 20th century. The flatware is Sterling Silver. All of this is policed by the KK Dragon who has an affinity for any mobile equipment going out the door. While KK is a nice enough guy for a dragon, he has been known to cook thieves where they stand. I think the last people who received his attention were named Thenardier. Ashes to ashes and dust to dust, if heaven won't take you, the devil must.

1 pointHi guys! Just a question: You all know that we had a DEBUG MODE until Maxis released the v2.0. As we can play offline mode, does anybody try to re-enable the DEBUG MODE woth the offline v10? If so, we could have access to FOREST TOOL, TERRAFORMING, REGIONAL EDITING, et caetera... Am I dreaming? Did i miss a point?

1 pointHave you tried using the Nvidia control panel? Under 3D Settings -> Manage 3D settings, then under the "Global Settings" tab, you can choose which adapter to prefer (as opposed to the default "Auto Select"). Also, under the "Program Settings" tab on the same page, you can choose an application (like SimCity 4) and the adapter to prefer (like your NVidia card). If you don't have the NVidia control panel, you can download it here. Also, make sure you have the latest drivers. Note: This only works if your system recognizes both of your adapters. If only one is recognized, read on... You may also be able to disable the onboard Intel HD 4000 adapter from BIOS and/or enable the Nvidia adapter. Are you familiar with accessing your system BIOS? Just be careful as on some machines, if you do this, you can lose your video entirely and end up with a blank screen - which can make it difficult to restore factory defaults.

1 pointNow, this might sound a little too forward and rude, but please... And I'm begging you, please stop. Listen.. I know you all mean well, and that you all want to contribute with some alternatives, but to be honest, you don't have a clue of what is like in South America, unless you were born there or you live there. I'm from argentina as some of you know.. And I've been to Brazil for vacations, and also lived there. First thing you will notice about Brazil is that the south part of the country is nothing like the north side. You have places like floripa, São Paulo, and Rio.. Which are all from the south yet very different... And places like Brasilia... Which are very different from the ones above. Now, I saw some comments about favelas... And amazonas... And even the World Cup and the Olympics... And that's the general knowledge people from the outside have... But it's not. That's why I'm telling you it's not like that. 1) you need to understand that our countries are nothing like the United States or Europe. People in here are used to live with that amount of money because that's the way it's always been. I know it's little, and people should get pay more in order to have a better life, but it doesn't happen. 2) countries are run by the people with the real money, and the mafias... Which you guessed it, we are used to. It is one of the worst thing that happen to our countries, politics and corruption.. But again, that's the way it has always been, and people are used to this. 3) don't try to apply american or European policies, or even alternatives, cause again, they won't work. In order to formulate solutions, you need to understand the essence and the cultural roots of our societies, and you never will, because you were raised in a different world. 4) I don't want to be rude, and I'm sorry if anyone feels offended by this.. But please, it is important to understand that it's not about one area in particular like Olympics or World Cup, it's about lack of education, living each day as if it was the last, which in fact is the culture in the favelas... Or in any "favela" in South America.. We don't call them favelas.. But you get the idea... And our politicians, believe it or not 10 times worse than any politician around the world, make money out of this... I lived in paraguay for 8 years, and I was lucky enough to live during 2 election periods... Since most of our countries have a high amount of low class and poor people, those are the perfect targets for candidates... Now this is how elections are run in South America.. You go to a favela ( or it's equivalent in any other country in SA) and they drive 2 trucks.. One with empanadas and another with coke and cigarettes... You give them 1 empanada.. A coke.. And a box of smokes! Bam! You have a vote! Another great way I saw politicians getting votes in paraguay was very simple... They would go to towns and little cities, and buy their votes for 10$ each... In USA... That's nothing.. I live in here now, and you get a sandwich and a juice at Starbucks... In South America.. That's a lot! So guys.. Please.. I know you mean well.. But you have absolutely no idea of what it's like.. And I read some of the comments and I was like "wow.. " its so easy when you don't know what's truly going on...
-
1 pointThank you all I've made a couple of changes, but I won't post another shot - I've desaturated the grass. Its still nice and lush green but not so bright and saturated as it was. I separated the window arches and applied the texture separately. The grooves in the bricks were intersecting at the wrong height. I've changed the banners, they are now black, sheer like silk, with Japanese motifs on them. I think it looks a bit classier I rotated one of the trees, you could tell they were identical before. You won't able to see but I added a front door. I forgot before! I've added some roof join flashing onto the small square turret roof to match the other roofs. I think that's it for now. I'll just keep going with the other sections. I might come back and revisit the paving in the gardens, its still a bit dark and saturated but its hard to make dark pavers without it being the saturated colour. Oh, the lot size will be 6x13 (Big!)

1 pointYeah. I'm guessing you're forgetting about Stage Limits. What this essentially means is that larger buildings will not, in any circumstance, appear until your region has reached a certain stage limit. Stage Limits apply no matter how high your demand is, and usually override demand. Note that Stage Limits are region specific. That means your entire region must qualify for a higher Stage Limit. This is good news, as it is incredibally easy to get your region to 200,000+ population (using multiple cities). So to fix this problem, start creating more cities in the Region. Also, don't forget about Demand Caps. Demand Caps means that your city will not grow no matter how much demand you have (somewhat similar to a Stage Limit). Here are the initial Demand Caps for your developers: R$: 20,000 R$$: 2,000 R$$$: 1,000 CS$: None CS$$: None CS$$$: None CO$$: 3,000 CO$$$: 2,000 IA: 30,000 ID: 14,000 IM: 7,000 IHT: 4,000 Note that Demand Caps are city specific. That means nothing you do in the Region will effect Demand Caps. To combat demand cap, you need to provide Demand Cap Relief. For Residential, Demand Cap Relief usually takes the form of parks, rewards, hospitals, and the University. For example, the Country Club relieves the R$$$ Demand Cap by 8,000 (in other words, you will be able to house an additional 8,000 R$$$ Sims in addition to your initial 1,000 for a total of 9,000 R$$$ Sims that your city can hold). Other notable Demand Cap Reliefs are the Major League Stadium (300,000 relief for R$ and R$$) and the Minor League Stadium (200,000 relief for R$ and R$$). For R$$$, the Stock Exchange is your best bet boasting 125,000 relief for R$$$. Commercial Demand Cap Relief comes from neighbor connections. For example, if you have a Highway connecting to SimNation (NOTE that the neighboring square does NOT actually have to be a city. Connecting to a blank region square still counts.), that counts as 100,000 Demand Cap Relief. Note that you can only do this three times to get a Demand Cap Relief (per type of connection. In other words, three Highways, three Roads, three Rails, etc.). You can have as many neighbor connections as you want, but only three count as Demand Cap Relief. Other notable neighbor connections include Subway, Road, and Rail. Also, Airports, the Convention Center, the University, and the TV Studio help relieve Commercial Demand Cap as well. For industrial, any amount of completed trips to a neighbor connection relieves Demand Cap. Unlike Commercial, this is unlimited; so make as many neighbor connections near your industrial zones as you can. So the more Freight Trucks that leave your city, the more Demand Cap for Industry you will have. Seaports are included in this as well (just make sure that Seaports are the ONLY connection nearby, because trucks usually bypass the Seaport if a road or Highway comes before it). Notable buildings that also relieve Idustrial Demand Caps include the Army Base, Radio Station, and Advanced Research Center (for IHT ONLY). Hope I helped.

1 pointI hope ponds are allowed. I got one to show you. Located just south of a really, really small (six blocks and less than 600 inhabitants) town called Beverlyville that would probably be one of the ugliest places in America if it wasn't for it's surroundings.

1 pointThis is a picture of a large roundabout in one of my cities (approx. 140,000 inhabitants currently). I'm pretty sure that this is one of my oldest cities, and I haven't been working on it in a while, so I need to thoroughly rework several things, especially the residentials which are mostly Maxis default. Hope you forgive me. Nevertheless, I really like this setting: A roundabout connecting 5 main road arteriae plus a small street. Since I like a little bit of nature in even my large cities, there's a small pond inside the roundabout.

1 pointHow do I fully patch Simcity 4? I'm aware of the EP1 patch and things like that. What I also want are the mods like the crime doesn't pay mod which fixes police stations and the mod that fixes I-HT not having high wealth jobs. I heard that I-HT not providing any high wealth jobs is because of other mods on the computer. What happens when I put the mod on vanilla Simcity 4 Deluxe/Rush Hour? I want to be able to have a fully patched copy of Simcity 4 Deluxe/Rush Hour without any mods (except the ones that fix bugs), then add some mods to it eventually.
