Australian Skylines
We're taking a trip down under today to view a few of Australia's most impressive skylines and skyscrapers. After a building boom starting in 1970s, there's now over 130 skyscrapers in the country, primarily spread out across five major cities - Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, & Gold Coast. Even more construction in recent years has made these modern skylines even more impressive - so lets take a look.
Gold Coast, Queensland
Our trip begins on Australia's eastern coast with a visit to the popular coastal city of Gold Coast. Although its a city that's renowned for its beaches, its impressive skyline has gained a reputation in recent years as well - especially with the completion of the 1,060 ft tall Q1 in 2005. Q1 is Australia's tallest building and the second-tallest free-standing structure in the Southern Hemisphere - and it offers some truly extraordinary views from its 750 ft SkyPoint observation deck.
Perth, Western Australia
Located on the Western coast of Australia, Perth is known for being one world's most isolated major cities. The capital city of the Western Australia territory might have a skyline that's smaller than some of Australia's other large cities, but the trio of Central Park (817 ft, 1992), Brookfield Place (801 ft, 2012), & 108 St Georges Terrace (702 ft, 1988) give this city's skyline a characteristic look.
Brisbane, Queensland
The capital of Queensland, Brisbane, is known for its waterside CBD which includes a number of notable skyscrapers such as the distinctive Riparian Plaza and Central Plaza One. Like other major cities in Australia, Brisbane's skyline has been growing in recent years - with skyscrapers like the 817 ft Infinity Tower giving the city a modern look.

Melbourne, Victoria
Our next stop is Australia's second largest city - Melbourne. Home to more skyscrapers than any other city in Australia, this capital city boasts a truly stunning skyline. The impressive 975 foot Eureka Tower is Australia's second tallest building - other notable skyscrapers include 120 Collins Street (869 ft, 1991), 101 Collins Street (853 ft, 1991), and the Rialto Towers (824 ft, 1986).
Sydney, New South Wales
Our trip concludes with a visit to the country's largest city - Sydney. The "Harbour City" has an impressive history - which includes being the home of Australia's first skyscraper, the AMP Building, located on the city's Circular Quay. Alongside the iconic Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge, the 1,001 foot tall Sydney Tower has become one of the continent's most recognizable structures - and with countless other modern skyscrapers populating its modern CBD, Sydney's skyline is among the world's best.
A look at a few of Sydney's tallest buildings near Hyde Park, the 748 ft tall MLC Centre and 1,001 ft tall Sydney Tower - distinctive landmarks on the city's skyline.
One of Sydney's most unique skyscrapers, the 790 foot tall Deutsche Bank Place, can be seen here overlooking Sydney's scenic Royal Botanic Garden.
