Welcome to ST guys!

joncjon: You move a lot! I hope you still manage to make friends.

I Kill Almighty Cheese Grater: Now you've done it. The Almighty CG will punish you heavily (j/k). But seriously, this better not be one of those clone account things ok?

The_Chondo Man: Don't forget to organize your plugins folder if you don't want to have trouble looking for missing dependencies and all that. Happy downloading!

sim_city-freak: There are even 60+ year old people who play this game (both on Simtropolis and other sites).

I wouldn't hold your breath.

If you think about it, only someone who is a member at simtropolis could think of a name like that. I won't point fingers though.

Hi, I'm new here. Started playing this game about two weeks ago, have been lurking the forums for about 10 days.  Glad to see theres so much information here!

About me, I'm 23, apprentice auto tech from Vancouver, BC.

Play PC games on and off, bought this game about 3 years ago and shelfed it.  Couldn't get into it.  Plus my computer couldn't either.  Now I can't seem to put it down...

Looking forward to harassing all of you for answers. 2.gif

Well, after studying this site some wheeks i think it's my turn to introduce myself here.

My name is Dirk, i'm from Germany and i'm living in Leipzig, a medium sized town in Saxonia. I'm 26 years old and working for german television.

One evening i was bored and reminded an old CD with SimCity2k. Well, there was no way to get it working, so i started looking for a newer version of the game and i found the game we all love so much.

Now, after realizing what is possible with the game and especially the tools here, i started to try to rebuild my hometown.

Maybe, if it's finally done one time, i show it here :-)

Welcome guys!

Mathew: Well then by all means harass away. Just make sure to post your queries in the right forum section/thread.

SinnerX: You probably know it already but your real name (Dirk) is the same as the username of the guy responsible for this site. Anyway, good luck and have fun rebuilding your town in SC4.

Hi all! So nice to be a part of this community!

I'm a married 26 year old housewife (at the moment). I worked for many years in the design industry (interior, reno, kitchen/bath, etc), and am obviously unemployed. I'm a recent Canadian  transplant living in Michigan; it's fun to point to a spot on your hand as an explanation of where you live!

I've been playing SimCity since 2000, then 3000 came out and it was like an addiction for me for a few years until I learned most ins and outs of it - now it's just like comfort food to me - something easy to play yet still lovely to do. When SC4 came out I purchased it promptly, played it for a few months, and then just stopped. I found it too overwhelming, and couldn't find a place like this where knowledge is gathered and shared. So you better believe now that I've downloaded a few things, I am SO excited about getting back to my SC4. Also, I have tried The Sims, didn't much care for it, except the house designing part! 4.gif I also enjoy the entire Doom and Quake series, old style shoot 'em ups, Myst, Zoo Tycoon, Roller Coaster Tycoon, etc.

I'm glad to have joined such a nice forum!

Welcome to Simtropolis, merula! It's nice to know that you're having fun. If you haven't done so already, you might want to check the omnibus for important info about this site such as the site rules.

Anyway, have fun playing SC4!

My name is Melissa. I am a webmaster and an Ebay seller. I enjoy playing Sim City 4 Deluxe and so much more than Sim City Soceities. I have joined hoping for help in finding the file to download that includes the Stonehedge landmark and all the others. My serial number wont work on the SimCity4 website and it sucks big time. I would appreciate any help I can get. Thank you.

Hello,

My name is Joe. I'm a self-employed Banking Systems Analyst/Programmer. I just started playing SimCity4 for the first time. The last SimCity I played was 3000 Unlimited. This site is great. Apparently, I stink at SC4 however. It seems that my attempt to create an industrial city according to the tutorial on this site fails every time. My Sims want Agriculture only?!

Greets to you, palmejoe!

As for your industrial problem, make sure you're zoning "Medium-density" and not "Agriculture zone". In Sim City 4, what used to be Light-density Industrial is now simply called "Agriculture Zone", and, obviously, only grows farms. You have to start out industrial zones as Medium-density (hotkey "X" on a typical keyboard, ie a qwerty keyboard, where the first six letters on the top row are Q, W, E, R, T and Y. My keyboard is a qwerty keyboard.). That should make it so your sims don't just build farms. 2.gif

Good luck with your industrial cities!

-Marsjam(b. my last name begins with a B, thus "marsjamb", an acronym of my first, middle and last name. Call me Marsjamb if you wish. I don't mind. ^_^)

Hey guys & gals,

Been lurking for quite some time, and I must admit that I've held back from posting mainly because I find this site to be absolutely overwhelming (in a good way)!  I'm not new to forums by any stretch.  Matter of fact, one of the cichlid forums I moderate on is among the largest on the web...

But it still doesn't even begin to come close to the sheer magnitude of Simtropolis!  46.gif

No matter how much 'lurking' I do here, I quite doubt that I'd ever feel 'truly ready' to start participating actively on the forum, so I might as well just jump right in and get going with it!

I'm very happy this site exists, and I applaud everyone for their cooperative efforts in keeping it running smoothly.  I'm also grateful to the generosity of folks who have shared their knowledge and made it available.  I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea...2.gif

Hi everyone!

I'm in Central New Jersey, father of 1, and an IT analyst at a medical device company.

I wanted a break from WoW and played the SimCity Classic online at the EA website. Boy does this marketing technique work because within 2 days all my wonderful memories of ScS and SC2k came back. Yes at this point I was already sitting at my home office unwrapping a new copy of SC4-DE.

So 2 weeks later (and about 70 sim years), I've made my first cities and my latest is at 40k pop with tons of HighTech industries and unlocking a lot of the props (marina, Golf Course, etc.). I plan to add lots with props so I just want to make sure I don't get too many 'brownbags' (is that the term?). But have a problem...

I am stuck. No, not the Peanut Butter Point, but when it comes to traffic I'm horrible. I'm afraid to tear down buildings to build a rail (mono or El) and the same goes for highways. I see so many good people do this well I'm worried to screw it up. But right now my city is made up of a lot of one way streets and bus stops (only recently found out you don't need an end point bus stop so Im demoing some of these for parks to reduce pollution). So to ask for help (which I will probably do in a traffic solution/lot thread once I find one) I'm looking for some of these extravegant lots with fancy highways and such.

The other big concern is the fact that there's soooo much content on here, that I'm a little overwhelmed, heehee. Just a quick question too: some of the mods and plugins are from 2004 or even earlier. But do they still work 4 years later? NAM is one of the few I've seen updated recently.

In complete heaven: I'm itching like a forester allergic to poison ivy to try out SimMars.

I love and would make my dream city of European architecture, mega-malls, and commercial centers like the Costco/Ikea settings. Oh and a lot of ocean, would love to see an ocean liner going from one end of my map to the other heh. Oh, and highways, I love the sunken highways and have seen some of the tutorials to make them that ROCK!

My only advice for ST5.0 is to add a welcome panel to the home page with a 'start here' type link to the newb thread. That helped out a lot!

I am from Nixa MO close to Joplin and Springfield. I am fourteen and I have been playing

Simcity for 4 years. I have only become very active in citybuilding this year and I have started

downloading many things but i hardly know how to incorporate every little thing I have in my cities.

You could say that I am addicted to downloading but lately I have been slowing down a bit.

I go to high school as a freshman and I am involved in many activities. My sport is Wrestling

and I got both an Acedemic letter and a Varsity letter in wrestling. I am lifting weights faithfully now

and I went from weighing 110 lbs. to 132 lbs. in just 2 months!! I can bench 180 and squat 295.

I have been reading through many different Cjs and forums and my two biggest questions are

How do I start a CJ, and where the heck is this giant Japanese exchange?

This website is crazy huge and I have found myself incomprehensibly lost from time to time.

I would appreciate it very much if someone helped me out

thanks

one, to start a cj, go to the cj main page, and click new topic. just go from there. you must start your cj how you want. two, go to the stex on the top, and on the search bar on the side of the page, type japanese buildings. that could get you started.

oh, and welcome to you and all new comers to simtropolis!

I have an xbox live account that is expired (I will renew it when I get microsoft points), my gamertag is (you guessed it) ferrariguy1000. I will try and do my best and try to make lots of lots.
