NAM Documentation & NAM Translation

The NAM Team is pleased to make an important announcement that affects the entire SimCity 4 community: that people can collaborate with the NAM Team on improving documentation and translation as well as working with the NAM Team to provide multilingual support for the mod.

To participate in this thing we have set a constraint of

The requirement has been included to have a more efficient management as well as prevent troll activities with documentation and translation files.

Once you have joined you can see the documentation and localization channels where you can discuss with the NAM team about the documentation and related translation of the documentation as well as the translation of the NAM. All procedures for collaborating with translation and documentation are present in the respective discord channels and NAM Team members are always available to help you.

The aim of this project is to make NAM more accessible by improving documentation but also providing multi language support allowing more players to use NAM in their native language for this reason they found the code on GitHub.

For any problems with GitHub you can ask @Shadow Assassin who can help you to set up GitHub. For the translation of LTEXT we have developed a fast method instead of using iliveReader which is problematic. In the LTEXT documentation there are programs that you can download to perform the translation

For a second, I thought NAM was being discontinued suddenly! Not sure if I'll be able to commit, but I'm glad that this is happening. I know there were many gaps in the documentation that still need to be filled

Here's the thing--the NAM team has been reorganizing internally to push hard on some beefy network development projects; and we realize other important things are being neglected as part of the process:

• Keeping documentation up-to-date with the latest content, same with ensuring older content gets its documentation made.
• Translation of the NAM user interface to ensure the mod is widely accessible to player audiences worldwide.
• Develop tutorial content to explain how / why to use the rapidly growing feature set.
• Updating certain auxiliary tools and partner mods related to the main NAM installation (RTMT, slope mods, Traffic Simulator Configuration Tool, diagonal bridge enabler, cosmetic network mods).
• Ensuring the NAM installer is functional for players, given the persistent spotty incompatibility issues which keep popping up.
• Engaging players with the latest advancements of the mods; including gameplay contests and partnering with SC4 streamers and video producers.

Right now we're in a slow period for NAM development, but the team never sleeps, and we always have exciting goodies underway!

Finally, hearing my opinion and implemented it! Like for all NAM Team! I'd like to expand the current doc and also, translating as well. But, I have a RL. So yeah, I can't, at least for now. And again, thanks!

Personal note:

1. Better for the list to have a Simtropolis/Devotion tag besides the name. This eases out reaching the said member.

3. I saw @CorinaMarie is a tester and she has a great network for every single internal team members, be it BSC, Project Zip, and yes, NAM Team. Maybe, we should include her, too.

4. May I make a thread about tracking someone's (including myself, if I can) progress on the documentation? And also, may I make a thread about translating in my own language?

Although @CorinaMarie is a helpful member, we decided not to stress her during this time. When she feels ready then we can resume the collaboration

We have created a task list that is constantly updated on GitHub. So people can see the status of the work.
