Moin*:)
I am opening a thread here. I wanted to know which is the tallest structure in your city / region.
The tallest structure in my Mexico region is the 610 meter high Aberdeen Spire.
It clearly towers above all other buildings in the city.*:8)

:???:     Is tallest infrastructure also accepted?     :read:

This here is the tallest dam and deepest reservoir in the Kingdom of Rota, Lake Pearl!

With a water depth of 157.5 meters and a dam 165 meters tall, this reservoir is the workhorse of the Kingdom's power grid!

Not just as impressive as other great structures around here, but the vanilla "Frank & Archai" is my tallest structure. The building has a really handsome shape and nice surroundings, so it's a nice element of my skyline.

The "SimCity 4" vanilla Opera House is the most evil thing in existence. Avoid.

running vanilla in my new region, so that would make Cahalane my tallest skyscraper. I've used countless mods in the past, but a few of those default Maxis stage 8 C$$$ really bring a smile to my face.

    Gahhh! Goodness me...

Just to inform everybody - Frank&Archai is not a vanilla building like I stated above, but an excellent creation by DuskTrooper and it can be found here*

    Sorry for the mistake! *;)

In the last years the skyline of Aberdeen has changed.
Now 2 new megatall structures (over 600 meter) are built.

On right the television tower ''Aberdeen Sky Tree'' (604m) and the tallest structure, in the middle the ''Millenium Tower'' with 660m*:8)

Ah nice. Already downloaded both earlier. *:P The Ping An Tower is about 720m tall in game (though the real-life version is about 600m).

There is one supertall R$$$ residential tower I know which used to be hosted on SC4LEX before the server went down: Al Burj, at about 1030 m tall. (It's a CAMelot, but you may modify the description file to reduce the stage to the default maximum - stage 8). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeddah_Tower

I have the files with me, not sure if you want them (and not sure if I can post them here anyway).

The 600m is the height without the antenna. Originally it was supposed to be 660m high, but after the antenna was discarded it became 600m high. So I assumed there were 660m in play.
720m is really cool, then my tallest building is higher than I thought.*:D

I still have the file, so thank you.*;)

This is not a normal town. It is my growable testing town.

The tallest one is my version of PingAn Finance Center.

The second tallest one is my version of CTF Finance Centre.

Ohh I know you made lots of tall Chinese buildings. Thanks a lot. I downloaded a lot of your Guangdong/Guangzhou/Pearl River Delta buildings.

As a Chinese myself, I have a small request: can you BAT this?

There are some 3D models available online. https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/shanghai-tower-e24fd5a66bbb4faaa7a8e26d3e7478fa

I have to tell you your request is not small. Even though I have experience on modeling such a super-tall skyscraper. But sorry to say these two building is currently beyond my current capabilities.
Right at this moment I am more willing to consider modeling a high-rise or a house.
    Sorry for the disappointment.

Awww. No problem. I can understand that.

Your Canton Tower is great. It pops up often in my city to fulfill the hungry CS$$ demands... Night lights are beautiful! It's the only colourful tower I can find in the skyline.

By the way, do you plan to release your tall towers above? A lot of shiny buildings look elegant. The Ping An Financial Center, twin GuangZhou IFC and CITIC towers are all great. If got night lights would be very great.

What the? Did I miss something? Oh yeah, your budget is just in the billions and you're in year 1000ish. It's just... unthinkable there's someone that's still developing a single tile to year 1000, except ofc @CorinaMarie (god bless her). The longest I played is around year 200 and even at that point, everything just looks insane. I mean, everything's skyscraper.

Hi. Nice to meet new friend from Indonesia. "Selamat datang". *:)

Yes, I didn't mention how I achieve that budget in a short time frame. I played this map for several months already, you can find it here:

I tweaked the NAM parameters so that I collected lots of income from the transportation side. You can see I collected a lot of money by tweaking the "income per tile by travel type" parameter below:

    GIkKrPK.png

    Jj8CFXG.png

    PuOoRm5.png

I find SC4 to be a bit restrictive on managing city budgets, especially on how you collect and spend money. In real life, local authorities/governments can collect money from very diverse sources, such as various form of taxes, permit auctions (e.g. Singapore's Certificate of Entitlement for vehicles), tolls, investment from past reserves (GIC/Temasek in Singapore). In most Asian countries, governments directly own stakes in companies (aka Government-linked companies, or GLCs) and those equity stakes generate income for governments as well via dividends/interests etc. An example can be seen in Singapore's case here: https://www.mof.gov.sg/docs/librariesprovider3/budget2023/download/pdf/fy2023_analysis_of_revenue_and_expenditure.pdf In SC4, for the income side, you can only vary income taxes, collect tolls and hope for some mods to give you rewards of hundred of thousands of Simoleans per month such as this one: http://descargas.capitalsim.net/?sitio=csc&descarga=3709

For expenses side, in real life, we pay our utilities (water, electricity, trash collection) and depending on household income/country system, we pay for our education, healthcare etc. In SC4, most of these are paid by the government entirely, which is very unrealistic. In real life, cities and countries trade with one another. SC4 only simulates "cross-border" people movements and allow limited "cross-border" investments with some deals on the utilities side.

I tried looking for a solution and find transportation to be a good parameter to tweak as the transportation income grows with more population (which imply more travel) on an exponential scale and will approach a logistic function (plateaus out) as the city reaches its maximum possible development. But I am not sure how to offset the expenses at the same time, so my cities all have huge budget surpluses and never really have any dirty industries.

Of course, you can say this is cheating and I have no objection to that. I just enjoy the process of growing tall towers and fiddling around with my transportation networks. I play SC4 mostly for aesthetic reasons, not really about seriously managing the budget (given the restrictions above) while growing a city. But this is just me. *:D

I currently have no clear plan for that.

As I calculate how many non released BATs are there in my drive. if I release a random BAT per month, it will take 10 years to clear out. It also depends on how many I completed per month (Even in such time I still complete 1~5 BATs per month. Compared to how many I completed in the last few months, which is like 8~15 BATs per month). Also if only there is no bad news...

I think you get the idea about that.

Fabulous!!! By the way, will you create the mod for the highrise from Foshan city. It seems to me like Baihua plaza, Swisstotel Hotel or the Poly centre. Especially the Ancestral Temple. Should be fun!!!*
