Beautiful. Would you be interested in making other series of shinkansen? Like the 100/200, 400, E1, E2, E3 etc

I would be open to doing more, if you want to see a specific one then you can make a request, with the name, a picture, and what network (Rail, El-Rail, GLR, Subway, Monorail or HSR) you'd like to see it on.

Omigosh, the classic Bullet Train!  I love it.

I'm going to have to slide a request now...

JR Kyushu 787 Limited Express, a sexy express trainset potentially for a SimCity Rail network that is usually known from the former Relay Tsubame, Relay Kamome, the Ariake Express, the Kirishima Express, the Nichirin Express, and the Kagoshima Express.  For a time as the Relay Tsubame, these would pull up on the platform alongside the gleaming white 800 Series Tsubame Shinkansen so that passengers could quickly  transfer directly from one train to the other.  A similar setup now occurs with the Relay Kamome as the black 787s have a cross interchange platform with the white, duck-billed N700S Series Kamome Shinkansen.  Generally these trains come in black metal or gunmetal gray, with mon-like white or gold circular crests or even red square stamps identifying their service.

These are not necessarily the fastest or now most modern Japanese trains, but they have a serious signature style all their own...

The gray version looks like the cockpit of gunship ready for to engage in some tactical intercity transit:

"I hope the trains are back on schedule, Commander, for your sake.  The Emperor is not as forgiving as I am!"

As the Shinkansen network expands in Kyushu and the need for express relays to finish Shinkansen connections diminishes, the 787s have been moved to more cruising routes.  The 787 trainset has been shined up from gunship gunmetal to black lacquer for the new Discover Kyushu Express luxury sightseeing train "36+3", a surreal combination of Neofascist Bladerunner chic on the outside and Meiji Revival with tatami mats, shoji screens, and bamboo blinds on the inside:

Beautiful, but perhaps a bit too nice on the interior for my taste.  I like the both the gunmetal black and the polished black, but I would have left off the gold trim around the headlights.  A caveat is that I am uncertain how successful a reflective black body with reflective black windows and reflective black roof would look in game, but then perhaps paper shoji window screens with bamboo blinds and white crests can offset all the reflective black.  Hopefully, at least, the pictures are cool to look at.

That 787 is a really solid looking train - a Lord of the Rails, especially the matt black version, shiny one more the Emperor.

Absolutely adding this to the list, its very sleek and stylish and I do love gunmetal aesthetics. I also enjoy the '36+3' being listed as a 'Joyful Train' on Wikipedia :bunny:
Reflections are going to be something i'll have to get it in game to know how good/bad it looks, but overall definitely happy to list it.

Aiming to get these released tomorrow. There's two heavy rail sets in Hikari (Ivory and blue) and Kodama (grey and green) liveries. And then a HSR version of the Hikari

    image.png

    image.png

(it's on Monorail in this screenshot as this is a test plugins folder. I actually don't have a proper HSR setup in my main region however, so if you have a suitable setup, I'd be very thankful if you could provide a screenshot or two!)

I have just released the Series 0 Shinkansen Rail & HSR sets!

I'd be interested in adding one more HSR screenshot if anyone is willing to provide an image of that set on their high-speed network. I only have a quickly-added setup.

In the meantime, enjoy these extra shots and let me know what you think about these new automata. :)

    Beautiful!

Regarding my previous post, this wasn't exactly a request but more like throwing an idea... But If you want me to make a request...

I would really like to have 2 shinkansen skins, related to where my SC4 region is located in Japan:

100/200 Series Shinkansen, in shark nose variant, Tohoku Shinkansen original livery.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/100_Series_Shinkansen

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/200_Series_Shinkansen

    200_H6_Yamabiko_43_Tokyo_20020601.jpg

And E3 Series Shinkansen in Akita original livery.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E3_Series_Shinkansen

    Akita_Shinkansen_(8394002359).jpg

I'd really appreciate to have these two to use in my SC4 world. *:)

    -Shinkansen Serie E5.

Many thanks in advance for your effort. Much appreciated!

More grungy freight! This time a REPlacement and ADDs for the first Boxcar, based on various Cargowaggon rolling stock.

btw, is there any documentation on how the piggyback car works? Or is just something not to mess around with and just block it out in my packs at some point?

The piggyback car and any other automata (including trucks and pickups) that can show variable freight all use effects to change the thing to be carried. The effects as such are not really editable and live in a part of the SC4 world very few know, but they can be put to your own use. The things the effects manipulate are all just S3D models (like a crate,  freezer box, containers, timber, machinery or bales of hay etc); they need to be certain size and position on the main model, but once that's determined you can change either as you wish. You can also just replace the model for the piggyback car with your own and without effects.

However if you want edit those models you can't use Reader, because it clobbers the REGP effects chunk in the S3D (which you can examine in HEX mode) and then they wont work at all.

I recommend using SC4Reader Tool (sc4devotion.com)  by Tropod (if you havent found it already), which approaches the S3D edit a bit differently, fixes a number of bugs from Reader, lets you see whether your model faces all face the right way and where the effects are on the models. It also does a whole lot of other things but I use it for S3Ds when I have to involve Effects and for checking things that otherwise need to be done in-game.  It can also make a good press snapshot of your models.

@rivit Thank you for the great explanation! I hadn't heard of the SC4Reader Tool, I will have a poke around with it later today. I think I will leave those specific wagons alone for the time-being though whilst I explore things.

@Tyberius06 Thank you for the comment! I think they have turned out very well, I certainly love how the long rakes look with the variations of the same wagon.

I'm caught in two minds at the moment, because I'm stuck between releasing one big pack, and releasing some smaller packs that are 1 specific type of wagon. 1 big mix vs lots of tailored packs to specific things, if that makes sense.

Some updates. Had a turbulent time recently with family health emergencies, but things are thankfully setting back down, and i'm able to return to a normal routine now. So here are some updates.

More of the Cargo Waggons have been made, I somehow made a bunch extra so there's about 14-15 varieties of this type of wagon.
    YiTF3DX.png

IIDs have been tweaked to make all of the UK Freight sets play nicely together. No overlaps now.
    IPJanmO.png

Each different wagon type has it's own caboose with rear light. These are provided as separate DATs so you can choose to use it or not, or pick a specific caboose for mixed freights.

    FBWxuNn.png

And just today, I have worked on a 4th wagon type, a open box wagon. Will be provided with the empty version (seen here) and full with aggregate/ballast. 10 variations.

    ZUDCsaP.png

These will be the four freight wagon types included in the first UK Freight pack. I fear if I wait to include every type of wagon I wish to include, the pack would never be released. So I plan to release this as Pack 1.
Plans for Pack 2 atm are to be container freight-specific. Lots of variety and will also be compatible with Pack 1. I'd like to try and include some of the containers that are present in popular LOTs to try and add a bit of consistency, but we'll see how it goes.

Finally, in regards to other packs, the next pack to be released will be the Amtrack P-Trak checker replacement, that has been sitting, almost ready to release for a bit now, and I shall make sure it's not skipped by accident.

I have just released the Amtrak P-Trak Track Checkers

These were fun to make and hopefully they will be useful those those who want something more visually interesting for a track checker.

UK Freight Pack is next,  It's very close to being done.

Still a WIP as there's some details to add and things to adjust and correct, but I have a Class 37 model working ingame. I'm quite excited to work on this class eventually, as it has a wealth of different liveries that can be added that will really stand out.
