It's great to see some new offerings in the works - and there aren't many truck stops around, so I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Truckstop tease. Plan is to start working on this relatively soon, but it all depends on the kidney stones and how I'm feeling with those. The truck pumps and parking area of the lot(s) is subject to change.

Pretty nice start.  There are so many options for fast food restaurants to use for Flying J, Pilot, Loves, and so much more.  I'm sure you could find the best pics.

Planning to do Wendy's with Pilot above. And then mirroring the design for Flying J with Arby's. (Pilot/Flying J are the same company so they share designs now.) I've come across an elevation map for its design, so I'm good for reference pictures.

Also plan to do a Love's with Chester's and Godfather's Pizza down the line as well.

    Anyone up for a challenge?

Here's a never before released BAT (a version 2.0 of City Center Shopping Plaza) I had made last May but never released due to lotting concerns and not having textures that I had desired for this lot. I had reached out to @kingofsimcityfor some new ones, but I never got them. If any one is wondering what they were:

    n.jpg.ba54aa71bd3b8c6e7e54221195686ffd.jpg

I sure do hope KOSC is ok as there has been no activity over there for nearly a year now.

Anyways, as a result of these circumstances, I want to challenge you to come up with a lot for this BAT! You have until the end of the month to come up with a design. Best lot can request a BAT from me no questions asked (just as long as said subject BAT is within my skillset to make)

Feel free to make new textures if you know how to do so, but using existing textures already available will be more impressive to me.

Also, please include a dependency list for your lots if you are entering this contest.

Great model BTW and I hope you are doing well.   WIP from your started lot.60dfe3baba2cc_AchallengeNO.jpg.ff78ae7b0b40b32f21e24d9d05733c52.jpgI assumed that was a drive thru on the side, so I designed the lot to accommodate it.

Moved the building over a little and based the parking off of what you had. I needed to learn to use the angled markings anyway, so this was a big help. And I learned how to use multiple overlays thanks to you RRetail. It blew me away that YOU did it and I just had to learn also. A brilliant method someone came up with. Source60dfe5a245709_AchallengeNOPE.jpg.8e8fe996aa59770eb8d292a75819b44c.jpg

Would this be a commercial service, low wealth lot?

That area on the right is actually a pick-up window for ice cream. Though I do suppose putting a drive-thru there does make sense and kind of serves the same purpose.

Yeah, multiple overlay textures and mirroring textures was a game changer for me as well. Just opened up the door to so many possibilities. Glad I could be of inspiration.

Yep, this is meant to be low wealth.

I have to say that you doing what you have done already is impressive, but if I may make some suggestions/feedback:

    1. The zebra stripes make it hard for me to believe that cars could pass through and back up from the diagonal parking spaces here easily.  I know there is limitations in this overlay texture, so I do understand it is hard to work around.

    2. That is a very tiny drive-thru lane.

    3. Just to let you know there is additional stop line textures that have the stop line shifted to the left.

And maybe add some detail to the sidewalk in the front if possible? Even if it is just people, that is quite the amount of space available that currently just empty.

Also, I should add that the upper left part of the lot (in the picture above) was meant to be a second lot so that a diagonal road would be possible. That's why there were no overlay textures in the lower left corner. Not that you or others have to follow my plans, I just thought you may like to know that. BTW, I have no problems if you or others want to change the lot entirely. I just put what I had completed in the download.

Will the truck stops be in one property or will it be four separate pieces you have to put together? (Again, I never have luck with those :( )

And in the future, when you're feeling better, would you do a truck stop lot for me? I have a decent idea in mind.

When using multiple lots, I'd recommend experimenting a little and use streets/roads to help align the lots.

Depends on what you are asking. I'm not saying I won't I just need some details.

    1. The zebra stripes

I struggled with this one, a lot. The stripes are part of the angled parking lanes. I could not find anything else within the depends I was using. Looked thru the list many times and this was the best I could come up with. And this was before you mentioned about it. Looking aging, nothing seems to work. So I used the worn(low wealth) stripes hoping it would suffice. I still may try again later, had to move past it for now.

And BTW, this is not the one I will be turning in for the challenge. *;) This one was for fun and practice. (this one is a mixture of medium wealth grass and low wealth sidewalk)

The other one won't be seen until the end of the challenge(by others). *:D

    Thanks!

For the truck stop, I was thinking maybe a Flying J with a Denny's & a 76 Gas Station on the sign.

Is there a reason for the specific 76 branding? I ask because Flying J uses their own branding so that request doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I opted not use Denny's as it seems they have closed quite a few locations. A lot of the newer truckstops appear to be using more traditional fast food options which I have opted to use, though some newer truckstops do use IHOP.

For the Rite-Aid Strip mall, I would include extra spacing for two-lanes when parking diagonally and to add a row if things don't work as you hope.

I already did a lot for a 7-Eleven with Sunoco fuel pumps since most of them are located in Reading, Reamstown, and in East Lampeter Township, PA.  If there is a service station or signs for 7-Eleven that could be included, it would be good. (I got off topic)

Maybe you would like to give the lotting a try yourself? I'm hoping to see some creativity from other people for this lot.

I had a plan, but sadly I can't fulfill it as needed textures do not exist. That caused me to not want to work on this lot (and honestly may have made me lose inspiration). I figure this contest would be best for everyone as it helps me by getting this BAT updated and it also allows the winner to choose a BAT option. (as long as it is within my ability to make)

Instead of Denny's, I guess Subway would do.

On some Flying J signs, there is a Gas Station sign for the unleaded. (I'll send a example image) and it's usually a Conoco or something else (it's a Conoco near me)

Here's the example image. So where it says Conoco, put 76, and where it says Denny's, do a Subway sign.

Hmmm. That's an older style of Flying J (before the Pilot merger) in which case Denny's does make sense.  I don't know if I'm up for doing that though as those are becoming less and less common with a lot of remodels happening.

    What props am I making?

Well, with the establishment of truckstops, I saw the importance of having enter/exit/do not enter and drive thru signs for fast food restaurants. Truckstop signage will also be added for the same reasons (and have already been completed) in the next prop pack update.

Please note that some brands listed I have not made buildings for. Me making these signs does not automatically guarantee that I will be making the actual restaurant. I'm more or less making these for general use with the possibility of using them down the line.

Checkmarks are for brands that I have completed as of this post.

Panera will only have a drive-thru sign as it seems that is the only sign they use.

Did I miss any major brands?

Just to be clear, I'm referring to small entry/exit signs like seen below. Not the large style of signs you see from the road with a brand logo on them. Some locations may not even have these type of signs for various reasons. (I'm focusing on these smaller signs at the moment.)

I could be wrong, but I don't believe any Domino's to have this kind of sign. Pizza Hut may have vintage style ones, but I'm aiming for updated styles with these signs. Not aware of Pizza Hut having such modern signage. I have no intentions of doing combination signs (e.g. KFC/Taco Bell together) as that would just become too much at that point with all the various potential combinations.

I honestly wasn't planning to do the larger style of signage at this time (for ones not already made). I guess I had it in my mind that I'd make these signs if and/or when I decided I was going to BAT the brand's building itself. But if I'm going through all the trouble of making these smaller signs, it would only make sense for me to do the larger ones as well....

@Kloudkicker Either way thanks for the reminder about Domino's and Pizza Hut, though I will say that not all Domino's have a road sign.

I will have to respectfully decline this. Chick Fil A does not go into truckstops to my knowledge and it makes sense with them being closed on Sundays. I am using Chester's and Godfather's Pizza for Love's.

Thank you for reminding me of Sonic, Del Taco, Taco John's and Bojangle's. It would seem the others you mention do not use signs as far as I can see.

Guess I will be adding those four along with In-N-Out Burger.

Darn. Well, it's okay I'm more worried about your health then you working on stuff right now.

    Please get better buddy.

Also, why not Whataburger for Texas truck stops and maybe even Church's Chicken.

To be honest with you all, I wasn't planning on doing brand changes with my truckstop designs. I was only planning to do Pilot/Wendy's, Flying J/Arby's and Love's/Godfather's Pizza and Chester's. The impression you all are giving me is that you are expecting additional choices. This is not exactly something I had intended doing as it creates a lot more work for me.

But even with that being said, I may do one or two additional choices since the desire has been acknowledged. If I do do this, everyone here will need to come to a consensus as to what brand or brands that will be- and it must be a brand found at an IRL truckstop. (The four brands already planned will be off the table though.)

This is very much appreciated. Thank you. I have to go on Monday for a check up on the kidney stone situation. Really hoping I won't have to go through surgery.

From what I can tell, Whataburger and Church's Chicken do not appear to use these smaller signs, so I don't plan to add them. A larger sign though is still possible for both.

So much I have miss “damn PC is down with HD problems rn” but anyways do you plan on doing restaurant also? I also like a idea of having a couple choices for Trucks stop with different Restaurants at them. Also what about some Gas Station? Like Speedway often have some Truck Stops with Subways and I’ve also soon one with Rally’s. Circle K Also does Truck Stop “in many old kangaroo expresses location” most of the time with places like “McDonald’s, Subway, Church Chicken, Bojangles, Burger King and even Wendy’s” 7-11 also does “McDonald’s and Subway” I also think we could used some Small mom and paps trucks stop like @pclark06 has done in the pass “maybe like Marathons, Shell and BPs with Country Kitchens and some fastfood. If you plan on doing sit alone FastFood you should think of doing KFC Taco Bell, New church Chicken, and so of the other like Del Taco, Taco Johns, Bojangles and so on. Thanks for all you do RR.
