I prefer the previous render.

Could you do 2 more renders:

1. Remove the texture you put to the lower floors

2. Apply the texture you put in the lower floors to upper floors

@Toothless Stitch The only solution to that is to make the reflective color a light blue and/or lower the reflectivity.

Not really, the third option would be to seperately darken the ground map in GIMP, PS etc. As a former batter (with annoying windows and glass situations) I know the pain.

The ground map shouldn't be edited once it's figured out. If you consider the end result to be like a math equation with multiple variables, the ground plane is a variable you can lock down most easily. As long as the ground map has the types of colors and shapes and patterns that you would find in the game (this is why I think using SC4 screenshots is the best way) you don't need to worry about it anymore. Except for sometimes when specific areas in the ground map are getting reflected in undesirable ways and in that case you can usually just shift the texture around.

@Toothless Stitch and @Jasoncw I made adjustments to the ground plane to change some of the reflections that didn't fit correctly with the rest. I think the ground plane is good now. I also finished the interior floor textures which makes the building feel more complete.

And Jason I might go ahead and model the interior because overlapping a 2d texture against the 3d interior would look odd imo, it wouldn't have any depth to go with the floors and walls. And I have to model the stuff on the patios anyway.

@Girafe You can compare this image with my previous one, I know it was confusing to the eye but hopefully this lets you see the difference. :)

My feeling is shared. In one way I like the contrast but the black areas are too strong. Could you render without any map on the floors and share the map you are applyong to the floors.

@Toothless Stitch I'll BAT the sidewalk closest to the building and the street-to-underground parking. Trees however will probably be props. (maybe simfox chestnut)

@Girafe Here are the 10 textures I used and an interior/no interior comparison. The darker areas you talked about are most likely the black marble and dark brown hardwood. What are your thoughts about them?

Hey, I was told there would be no math on this exam! ;)

I like the building - with all the talk of glass, I think that the blue is a delicate balance.  Too little and it won't read properly (or at all), too much and it will look like a Smurf.  Maxis has some blues and aquas going on in their buildings that really toe the line on "Smurf territory," and color saturation in general is something that we all should really pay attention to in our BATs.  Often I find myself doing preview after preview just to get the right color saturation balance so that it's not too bright and vibrant and cartoonish, but not so dead and dull and bland.

It's always good to have new batters. You're doing an amazing job in this building. Keep up the good work.

Great to see more progress! :golly: So much detail to look at now, that will really make the building look "lived in" instead of sterile and artificial. Will the driveway line up with in-game streets? I'm asking because it may be difficult to make it look good if it doesn't. If it lines up with the grid, the lot could even be transit-enabled to connect the driveway to the road in front.

@Toothless Stitch I'm not sure which area you're referring to.

@T Wrecks I haven't tested it in-game but yeah I'm planning to line it up and it be transit-enabled. The only problem is I don't know how to add the transit-enabled part. I've got all the software that might have that option: iLive reader, PIM extended, etc..

It is misaligned, but nothing a little photoshop can't fix. The red lines to show you where the street would curve to line up with the TE.

Try to find the grey parts of your building. Where could they be? Nobody knows ...

Beginning of june this great bat seemed almost done. Hope this is only a summer break. You know, germany doesn't do good on the olympics, always on fourth place. Somewhat disapointing.

So you really could cheer me up, if this does the finish line - because this one is obviously a gold medal aspirant.

Hi, how are you, I wonder, where can you download this building for the game ?, I liked it a lot, but I have seen several post where there are buildings very well made and that call my attention but are not available for download on this page.
Can anyone tell me if they are only found on simtropolis STEX disks or are they just projects they did and were never published?

I do not speak English but I try to translate what they say so I can understand it, I use google translator, greetings and I expect an answer.

I love it! My only remark, and it's nitpicking galore, is that the interior of the glass pavilion on the bottom floor seems very empty. A few props or just a different ground texture would help. :)
