Does anyone have any intentions of making any sunken stations for the Metro Overhaul Mod?

For example:

Prince George's Plaza station (Washington Metro)

Prince George's Plaza Station

Southern Avenue station (Washington Metro)

Any progress on making underground metro stations with island platforms? I know the one way metro tracks are still in development but I don't know when that overhead line/one way metro tracks will be released.

Also, my favorite metro trains are the R160 vehicles. Their default capacity is 180 people, but Advanced Vehicle Options can be used to change the capacity of the trains. Likewise, the Metro M5 units found on the Amsterdam Metro carry 900 people, which I believe is too much for any metro vehicle outside of the Realistic Population and Consumption Mod. Trains like the Tokyo Metro 08 series that carry 720 people, when converted to metro using the Train & Train Stations Converter mod, only carry 180 people (that can be fixed using Advanced Vehicle Options).

Also, does anyone plan on making the Washington Metro 7000 series trainsets for the Metro Overhaul Mod?

@j4lambert - WMATA stuff has been on my radar for a while, though my timeline for it is pretty much "maybe someday".

I've been tossing around the idea of doing a DC reproduction for a while now, this would certainly edge me toward actually dong it.  That and some more of the DC monuments/buildings (hint hint asset creators :D)

@andreharv @BloodyPenguin
A bug for any ground station track:
5Zn8OQB.jpg

there doesn't seem to be any difference between ground station tracks and sunken station tracks. they both clip terrain if they sink below ground. Above is a picture with ground station track closest to camera, which instead of sculpting the terrain, it just clips right through. Compared to normal ground track behind that which sculpts the terrain as it goes up the slope.
Ground station tracks need to follow the same rules as ground train station track otherwise it's impossible to convert them (like this station: Bouteillier Station which uses normal train station tracks, not the sunken variation from ETST)

hope you guys can fix this :)

Thanks for pointing this out.  If I'm not mistaken, it is just one flag that needs to be set.

should be something like "fixed height" so it doesn't follow the terrain, but makes the terrain shift to match its height :)

Apparently, the monorails in the upcoming Mass Transit expansion uses a new type of road that allows tracks to be build above it.

001.png

This looks so much easier than trying to glitch the pillars using No Pillars for above road metro which has mixed results, I was wondering if MOM would have something like this once the expansion has be released.

Also, elevated stations on wider roads.

I think there should be custom monorail vehicles for the monorail, like the Chongqing Monorail Line 3 vehicles and the Bombardier Mark VI/Innovia 300 monorails. For my opinion, I personally don't usually like the stock monorail vehicles.

I finished Innovia, it's waiting the DLC release.

@Dejected Angel: Great question!  I have to admit that if I was going to do that it probably would have been best to do at the release of the mod.  Reason is that there is no standard for station height.  Some may be at 9m and some at 12.  Frankly if I do make it, it would probably be standardized to 9m.  Idk if this requires the dlc to make.  I have just never attempted to make it.  I would assume though that maybe it would make junctions easier.  The only issue is that this constitutes one network and all the networks are static.  What I mean by this is that I would have to create every permutation of road and MOM there is (potentially hundreds).  I could pick a handful and have people live with it.  Eventually I would like to create a tool that automates laying roads.  I don't know if it is even possible.  Since that would be a far way away (if ever) I suppose I eventually could make a few combination pieces after I get single rail MOM done (it is still progressing lol).

I would suggest 3 junctions would be enough: 4, 6 and 8 lane default ones.

I have the Seattle Alweg monorail waiting for the DLC to drop as well.

Not exactly - Those monorail tracks will be just like the tram tracks as CO said that "standard roads will be able to upgrade to roads with monorail tracks above them" - so we are still not able to drag those tracks on top of any road using vanilla tools.

Anyway I agree it would be nice to see some road + mom network :)

Could there be any types of underground monorail tracks and underground monorail stations?

Unlikely. The idea of having monorail is to have something above the ground. I think CO considers monorail as a counter dampener of metro, one can be built under the other on the ground. Tram is a way between.

That's what I mean, a new type of road.

I have finished the Tama Monorail and am going to work on the Tokyo Monorail 1000 and 10,000 series. Like the others I'm just waiting on the DLC.

Remember when we came across this additional metro entrance? http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=881066672

Now remember that most metro systems require elevator entrances for persons with disabilities. I have an awesome idea. How about the creation of an elevator-only metro entrance that follows the additional metro entrance template? For example:

That's simple. Just create an elevator asset, then import it to the game and add some pedestrian pathing. No coding needed.

As for future developments, tram would be my most wanted feature. In principle, I would be happy with just a track without sidewalks and high speed limit.

Edit: Deleted the part of this message about tile flattening.

@Turjan Are you sure it's caused by MOM? That sounds like the bug with subbuildings. Perhaps you placed something with an integrated metro station?

You make a good point. I think Joak's airport was updated when I activated MOM in that city, so that might have been it, given the flattening happened to the tile it was on.

    I'll edit the first post.

I can only say they are still on my hard-drive, ready to be released. Initially we were waiting for the Light Rail MOM update, but it's taking a lot longer than expected. I might release them earlier as trams or trains or both. Same goes for @Joak's stations, but don't take my word for it.

well if they're trams (more light rail than heavy) just release them now as trams. you shouldn't rely on mods to release your assets, I'm sure if a Light rail overhaul ever happens there will be a converter mod for it just like MOM

I'm not relying on it, I'm working on it myself :P @andreharv is a busy man which means I don't always know what to do.

I've had discussions with a bunch of people, American and European, whether the Expo Line vehicles are metro, light rail, or trams. The conclusion: everybody thingk something else, so I'll release them as everything to please everyone and use it in their favorite ways. Final exams first thought...
