Good to hear it isn't just me that missed these. :) I have plans for exactly that too - I wanna grab some larger fancy graffiti for that. Hoping to get them out during next week. I plan on a 6u and 12u version with different graffiti - using both sides should give decent variation for long stretches. :)

That's awesome to hear. I guessed that you already had an eye on it, you're typically thorough with these kinds of things, but I figured why not ask anyway.

More graffiti is always good to hear. It's kind of funny, but people in real life hate seeing the ugly graffiti defacing everything, but in the game, everything looks too clean and untouched, so the graffiti helps lend a reality. Not a nice one when it comes right down to it, but a reality nonetheless.

Are you planning to do the 2u, 4u, highway varieties with this one as well?

Something that could be cool, and I realize it would be more work for you, so take the idea or leave it, I totally understand, but in my city there's a stretch of highway that is elevated, and the support structure was designed to be decorative.

    3305211929692940390.jpg

That's the only picture I can find, but there's actually more to it that you can't see. There are some more types of engravings and a quote and other stuff. I can send you a Google Maps link if you want.

Like I said, I realize that's a lot of extra work, so whether you choose to do something like that is entirely up to you. My feeling won't be hurt if you don't.

    Keep up the awesome work!

I like how you think Avanya :)

Would be nice to have something like this in the game too, if it's not on your list I'll do it myself though

I totally agree! That would look awesome! It would be hard to make though without it being usefull only in a few situations. I really miss some better looking under/overpasses - especially for those raised with dirt like that one. Doing that in the game will at best leave you with some cliffs, but often come with tears in the ground. :P

I'm done spamming the workshop for today. Next up is prob the overpass walls for the 2 wider sets - gotta go grab some pictures of local graffiti for that I think. :P

These are what I have been wanting to hide those ugly terrain tears.    Also looks more natural as most overpasses have concrete from the base up to the roadbed beams. I had wanted to make something like this, but I'm too newbie.  Glad to see someone else was trying to work it out!

Highway overpass supports up - both with and without graffiti!

As for my other little wall project I'm getting there. It's never gonna be perfect, but with some terraforming and decorations it can look good enough. Gotta do some tweeking of the mesh and texturing - these will be much more flexible than my other ones. :D

Your supports are awesome, and I'm looking forward to those new ones. If I could request, when you texture them, they should be pretty heavily covered with graffiti. When you see those bridge supports, they're often almost completely covered with large murals of graffiti.

Just an idea, I'm sure whatever you do will be great.

I think I'm going to have to start a new city. It's a bit tricky trying to fit them into my current city, and I really want to use them!

@Matthias King I went for the slightly "cleaner" look for a few reasons. It's not easy finding free stock pictures of large murals or walls covered with graffiti, and it would make it much harder to get them to look good where they connect. And I just don't have the skills to create them from scratch. :)

@gfv1974 I know the feeling! My latest city don't have any sloping roads like that as I really don't like the standard elevated look. :P The other type I'm working on should be alot easier to add to existing cities.

Additionally, you'd need several different varieties to avoid too much repetition, which would look pretty silly (imho.) In real life huge murals are one-of-a-kind, whereas smaller graffiti (like 'tags') are much more common and are often sprayed all over town (so no problem seeing several of the same).

Your last batch of assets looks fantastic, Avanya! I also struggle to find space for them in my city, but I think I'm going to start with a new one from scratch in a while, so then I can take these overpasses and supports into account right from the beginning.

I just released the much more flexible overpass support walls, which also look good with rail. :D It's still the 12m high, but however long (or short) the slope you like will fit. I've scrapped doing the 12x24 ramps as they will be so long you really need a long straight piece of road, which just isn't that realistic. I still have plans for more, but for now I will do some more industry stuff (got the time again and there's a limit to how interesting these overpasses are to model ;)). These are great little "break" projects just like the rocks and there will be more in the future. ^^

    Looks awesome. No surprise there.

Are you planning on doing a large road version of the overpass wall as well?

Great additions. Yet another item to be added to CS' bucketlist of realism mods.

    Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

    This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

You're pumping them out like crazy! I love it! These are amazing! It's what I've been wanting for a while. The underpasses I see in my town irl all have concrete under them, so it bothered me to have only dirt or nothing at all under my bridges! And about that engraved wall, the town I live by, Tulsa, has sound barriers like that but don't support any roads. Instead, they line large avenues that are surrounded by medium to high wealth residential neighborhoods, and I've always wanted that! It'd be nice to have that wall!

Sounds good. I'll look for the new overpass.

And I really like those new warehouses. They look excellent.

    Thats some lovely factory hall!

Totally reminds me of some (I suppose) fishfarms I saw on a vacation once.

Two more warehouses released! One with color variations and one without as I couldn't decide whether I wanted color variations or not. They're slightly annoying when you just want a bunch in the same color. ;)

Atm I have way too many ideas for future projects and I can't seem to focus - except on warehouses it seems. :P  Before I start whatever new project I settle on, I hope to do the wide version(s) of my latest overpass support. :)

Looks fantastic - I think these are my favorite warehouse assets the game has!
If you need some ideas for more, what about a similar version but with a flat roof? This game really lacks in the really, really, really big box storage department (the ones available look good, but they all have some flaws, be it file size, blurry textures, or whatnot). And by adding lots of pipes and HVAC elements and similar on the roof, it should be pretty simple to re-use that same building as a variant that looks more like a manufacturing place rather than for storage.

That's totally in my plans too. I think a few different sizes would be great, so they can be used modularly to create large and interestingly shaped ones. Might be a good next project for my large modular industries. :)

There's also the older pointy roof type which I also want to do. :P 100783686.jpg

I'm excited to hear about this. We need a few of these type. What is the proper word for that type of roof?

    Ummm... factory roof? :D
    Seriously though, it's called a saw-tooth roof.

    Love the idea, Avanya!
Would be nice to base the textures on that photo: we have plenty of brick buildings by now, so a few concrete + shoddy paint job-type facade assets would mix nicely.
