Oh yeah! That explains why it felt a bit familiar. Ty very much those pics will definately be helpful! :D  No google streetview to help spot the details and most shots are aerial and show the whole thing (or tries to), so seeing what's what isn't that easy. :P  I'm not trying to make it exact, but I'm definately taking some inspiration from it. ^^

Inbetween work on the Miyagi Motors plant I updated my semi desert theme. I tweeked the cliff texture a bit (it had an annoying lighter line that's gone now) and added road and pavement textures that are a bit more interesting. :)

    Ooh, that looks really nice!
Too bad all these 'base textures' (like concrete, gravel, ruined, etc.) are applied globally: for example, I would love to use that texture in some area's of my city (like Old Town), but if I were to use it, they would be visible everywhere, also in places where it would look rather silly like industrial estates or parking lots... :(

I totally agree! I found this one didn't look too silly as it's somewhat subtle, but it would be awesome to have more options. Maybe CO will add that at some point or one of our talented modders will.

It's very unlikely because the "base" textures are hardcoded in the shaders, and the shaders can not be decompiled or modified by modders.

CO won't add more types because it would affect rendering performance.

The only thing that would work are custom network segment textures for roads (with integrated sidewalk textures) a la Network Skins.

Way late to the game here (started a new job a month ago, haven't had time to look at the forum in weeks) but this is the complete opposite of my experience. Granted Toronto is one of the most expensive cities to live in in North America, but lofts are trendy and chic and they are very expensive here. Toronto might be unique in that, while we do have different areas, we don't have large areas of the city that are all one 'wealth' level; everything is kind of intermingling here. For instance, I live in quite a nice place that's filled with lawyers and doctors but right beside my building is a large subsidized housing complex. It doesn't matter where you go in the city, you'll find expensive housing. You'll also find (comparatively) cheaper housing nearby.

But still - lofts are trendy and have loads of character. People are looking for that, and the prices here reflect that for sure. Every single loft I've seen for sale here has been very pricey. I don't think I've ever even seen one for less than $800K.

I was too lazy too read back my post, but I think I stated that initially housing in gentrifying area's are cheaper - yuppies etc. usually take over neighborhoods once the gentrification is finished (or at least well under way), which then causes housing prices to skyrocket. They're the ones that ultimately profit from gentrification (not monetarily, but in regard to living there), not the ones that originally initiated the process (who are often driven out because the area becomes unaffordable).

Toronto is an extreme outlier with complete gentrification and illogical placement of "affordable housing."

Very nice! You made lots of awesome stuff while I was gone. I'll have to go and check on it soon.

I know it's already somewhat older, but I wanted to show how I used some of your creations:

A little WIP pic today. 2 more oil tanks which fit on 6x6 lot. The fixed roof one is more or less done - it needs props and some that sort of touch ups. The floating roof I'll add a little walkway going into it and it has no LOD or normal map yet. with a bit of luck I'll finish them tomorrow, so won't be long until they're on the workshop. :)

Oh, and tris count is currently just below 900 and just above 1000 (will prob end up about 1100 tris), so they're on the lighter end :D

I finished the two 6x6 tanks and just released them. They are very plain, but looking at the real things that's pretty much how they are. I didn't add pipe props as I think it's better to add those later with More Beautification.

A bunch of updates today! I finally got around to updating my first oil tank train - now with some nice recolors of Acc3ss Violation's oil tank trailers :D Oh, and it comes with a prop too ofc.

My dark boulders and small dark boulders got an update too with a bit of moss to make them a bit more interesting. Pretty happy with the results. :)

My prop of the default bus had the doors on the wrong side, which I fixed too, and uploaded a LHD version. I've got a prop version of the default snowplow up too (though it isn't a pretty thing :P ).

And lastly I uploaded prop versions of my recycling trucks - the open container one being empty. :P

I have a few other things in the works, but I'm not sure what will be next. Maybe a bit more industry, maybe some larger rock formations, maybe the fields I worked on earlier. We'll see. :)

    That looks fantastic! :ohyes:

12 units would be about what I normally use but any lengths you make would come in handy, I'm sure.

I'm really looking forward to these.

12 cells is what I usually do, and 12m high.

I'm guessing the one in the picture is for 2-cell roads. Will there be one for highway ramps, or does the 2-cell one work for that as well?

Depending on the situation my viaducts have a 7-9 meters height (never more, and even 7-9 meters is way too tall - unfortunately going any lower causes vehicles to clip the viaduct), with slopes that are 5-7 units long.

Edit: love the overpass, those textures are superb!

If I can, I'd like to request even more graffiti! Or at least a version with more or something. I have ghettos to create.

Tyvm guys! :D I'm really happy with the textures too and I've even managed a little variation (color mask with some more tags, which don't always appear). I originally made them as props, but I'm considering changing them to buildings (with the dummy ai). Then ofc some kind of mod will be needed to turn off collision (but that's the same with a prop, which needs another mod to not have the lod disappear way too early) or I'd have to move the pivot point to the side (that makes rotating it a bit weird :P). I hope to release the 2 cell and 4 cell versions today - and the 2 cell one works with on/off ramps too. :) Sadly it doesn't look right with rail. 4 cell works with 3 lane highway and the 4 & 6 lane roads.

A shorter, lower version (like 6 units, 8-9m high) also seems like a good size. And I'll definately make a block prob 6-8 units long. Atm my days are somewhat busy, so these are great little projects until I have more time again. Plus it gives me a little variation in what I make. :P

    Some almost-final pics!

Edit: Oh, and if you need graffiti or inspiration Graffiti Central is the place to go!

Fantastic! A superb addition to the workshop. Bridges are badly served ingame and many custom bridges are difficult to work with- these concrete block with tags look great

That graffiti central place is a good resource, but my question is, how would I get these images there turned into 'billboard' props so I can put them on any wall of any building? That's what I'm really looking for.

The small road version is up! Somewhere along the testing I messed up the width of the large one, so that won't be done today. Hopefully I'll have it fixed some time tomorrow. :)

The model would be simple - just a square. The pivot point might need to sit a little behind it for it to show correctly. The texture would be a base color or gradient, alpha map would create the cutout and the actual graffiti. A color variation map could be added too.

Unfortunately, I don't know how to do any of that. If I did, I'd be making a collection of graffiti assets.

FINALLY!  Thank you so much.  This is exactly the type of thing that's been missing.  Are you planning a non-graffiti version?

I just had to say, you do fantastic work on assets, creating things that should have been an option for the vanilla game.  I think I'm subscribed to all of yours.:)

With these underpasses in mind, and I have to add that this is one of the things I've been wanting to see most since day 1, so a big thanks to you for not only this, but all the assets you've released, I wanted to ask if a flat underpass was also possible.

Something to go under the elevated highway so it looks like it's held up by a solid structure rather than pillars. Basically just like your underpasses, but for straight stretches of highway/roads instead of ramps.

    Thanks again.
