Are the players using a lot the control level up mod ? Did they stop buildings on the level one ? Why ?

I use it because I prefer to choose when a building is allowed to level up. I'm afraid that if I don't, all my buildings will level up and look the same. At least this way, I can keep some at level 1, while also having higher levels. I like to maximise the building variety, especially in larger cities. (Hope that makes sense!)

Same here: I want total control over each building, so I usually fix the wealth level pretty low for the whole district (L1 for commerce/offices, L1 or L2 for residential), and then allow individual buildings to level up beyond the set levels. This way keeping buildings at L1 is no problem.

Mmmmh. So I have to complete my level one collection. It's okay, I like these simplistic buildings (more than the level 3, more ornemented.)

I'd say that is up to you, because you have pretty much everything covered at the moment.
    The only currently missing assets I can think of are a 1x3 L1 LC, a 2x2 L2 LC and a 3x3 L1 HC - the rest (LC 1x2, 2x2 corner, 2x3 and 3x2) already come in L1 and L2 flavors.

    Wait, what? You do?
Maybe I'm blind as a bat, but the only L2 2x2 I can find is the Aldiss, which is a corner building. Can you link me to the Workshop page of that normal 2x2 L2?

Woups, you are right. I have two 2x3. It was a mistake. I'm supposed to retexture entierely the Hoffmann Building and transform it into a 2x2 building. But I'm really lazy. :(

Usually you won't need a 2x2 building of there is a 2x3 building.

It is more important to have one building for every possible width.

I don't care about wealth level or any of the gameplay conventions associated with that. It's all about what looks right to me, so I have many buildings all across the city that are locked at level 1 because I like the buildings, simple as that.

If you do redesign it, please leave the original version too. I like that building.

Could someone explain what is an alpha map and how does it works ? It looks like really interesting. If I understand correctly, the alpha map transforms selected pixels of the diffuse map, and make them "transparent" ?

The alpha map is a map for the visibility of the pixels yes.

Everything that is black will be invisible, everything that is white is visible (actually it is everything under 50% grey invisible and everything over it is visible).

There is no "half transparency, the alpha map is on or off.

The fact that there are no inbetweens can lead to some weird problems, here is a little tutorial on how to make good use of it : https://community.simtropolis.com/forums/topic/66945-tutorial-how-to-use-alphas-for-grilles-or-balconies/

I realized that when I said you could use some 3x3 buildings, I meant corner buildings specifically. Sorry about that.

Hi everyone. I need some help !

I need to change my mind and want do some traditionnal american houses. I think the houses in the game are... boring ? And a bit too big, probably.

In SC4 we had plenty of these beautiful old wood or brick houses. I need inspiration ; but I dont know where I can find in the US these old wood houses : is there some special districts or places in cities (or a website !) where I can find a looot of traditionnal XIX° century houses ?

    Thanks a lot.

Well, based on personal experience, I would say Boston. Now, of course the city has a lot of buildings, so I would go to the cities surrounding Boston, so for inspiration look at places like Somerville, Charlestown, Malden, Cambridge.. All of those within the Boston metro area.. Another place I would also look for inspiration would be Rhode Island.. I'm sure there's a lot of places, but I'm just going with my experience.

    Hi everyone,

A Steam users told me today that my style "desappeared" inside the game. Feinbolds style are still in game, however.

Anybody has the same problem ? :(

Yours is a style, Feindbold's are building themes. The user may not have activated the style, which is in a separate category from mods like the building themes.

For example, I seem to be subscribed to your style, but never activated it. I had made a buidling theme out of your buildings before I actually subscribed to your whole collection, which is the main reason for that.
