Looking good!

About your earlier modeling question, just make sure that the model makes sense when it's imported. You might have to manually clean up the model if it makes extra/weird polygons. Depending on how wonky the results are it might not be worth it. I don't know how solidworks is, but some programs it works well and some are really bad.

I've been using it on this project mainly for signs...the imported text is about half the polys as the 3dsMax text tool. I've also just done simple generic office buildings on my lunch break at work. Just simple squares so I can easily control the poly count, and add the extra details in 3dsMax

These take about 30 minutes to do (I can usually do about 1 a lunch break), so I hope to be able to populate the game with small commercial offices to give a little variety.

    More or less finished product...

There seems to be an issue with the parking lot when viewed at a distance though. This is the basic parking lot texture that is native to the game...I haven't modeled the parking lot at all.

It turns black when you zoom out. Has anyone else run into this issue?

How does one upload items to the Steam workshop? I do not see a link for it.

I don't see a share button anywhere. I've been through the workshop pages and my personal content pages and can't find a thing.  Can someone send a screenshot of where the button is?

Go into content manager > Assets > and then the share button Should be on the right hand side I think. I don't have it installed on this computer though. Here's a guide on how to update assets... there is a screenshot of the share button on that page...

They truly look awesome !! What texture sizes did you use ?

2048x2048 for both. I think for the next iteration I'm going to work on the textures a bit. I'm not entirely happy with the way they came out, especially the shop windows. Those were done last, and with the amount of space the brick and roof textures took up, I didn't have much room for them. Hope they don't look too bad!

AWESOME buildings! Just put them in my city and changes whole look. Is there a setting or mod that allows you to plop more than once?

If there is, I don't know of it.

Your shopping malls are amazing, but unfortunately I need to take my computer's well-being into consideration (it's already struggling): 20+ MB per building simply is too much for it too handle, I'm afraid. But that doesn't take anything away from the models themselves: as said, they're fantastic!

Hey Wallacet, I love your new buildings. I have an issue with the longer one though. Take a look at this GIF, you will see that when you zoom out the LOD moves center. Also I'm getting some weird plane fighting going on as you can see in the red area on the roof. that is also going on with a darker area on the roof right next to it. Also one more thing, I see on your workshop page that you didn't add the parking lot props you used for the asset. If you want people to see the parking lot lines you need to add them as a requirement so people know to sub to those as well.. That's why you don't see them in this GIF, I didn't know I needed to get them. Hope this helps. Thanks

Hm. I think I know what is going on with the shifting. I deleted the curb planters in the LOD, so I guess the game automatically shifts the whole model forward for some reason. It doesn't happen with the other mall because the one side butts right up to the road. And I'll look at the red flashy thing. Might be a duplicated section of the roof. As far as the props go, I will add that to the dependencies list. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I can't fix the issues if I don't know they exist! :thumb: Other than that, does everything else look alright?

    Yup, Everyone else looks good.

Just updated to remove the flashing poly. Looks good on my end, let me know if you are still experiencing issues.

    zzzzzz:yawn: ...is it 2016 already?

Well I'm (sort of) back from a long hiatus...nothing to bore you with but, among other reasons, I used to do all my forum-ing from work, and they have since blocked this site :(. I guess from now on I'll have to resort to mobile or wait till I get home. Seeing as I've been gone for so long, would anyone like to catch me up on the following issues? I don't think I've got the time to endlessly search when all you guys already know!

-Has there been any resolution to the growable lot size problem, or are we still stuck at 4x4?

-Any must-have mods that have come out in the past 4 months?

-Anything else interesting in your lives?

I've been thinking recently about wanting to start a growable American Craftsman house series...non-Americans see below to see what I'm talking about...

    15-Inviting-Craftsman-Home-Exterior-Desi

    6977bd5e3cc252f94035fd3fd0dd9d9c.jpg

Has this style been extensively done in this game already? I didn't see much of anything in the workshop, but I also didn't dig that deep. Another thing...in order to do this style of house justice, the poly count would have to be rather high, due to all the intricate details present in this architectural style. Has the community settled on a hard limit for growables? Last I had heard (in August), there was still the Paradox suggested limit, but I had seen multiple different suggestions as to what worked and what didn't for growables...so let me know what you know!

Sorry for the long post...I haven't talked to you guys in months! I've got a lot to say!
