Re: backyards vs. front yards, in a lot of US suburbs from 1965 onwards, the lots are actually more than four cells deep.  Pre-1920 suburbs may have 5-15 foot setbacks (up to 4m, half a cell).  Modern suburbs have setbacks of 50' (16m)or more.  If measured from the centerline of a 2-cell road, that puts the house one cell deep on the lot.  If measured from the street edge, a 30' setback might be farther.  A typical post-war 0.25 acre lot would be about 80' wide and 130' deep, or 3 cells by 5 cells.

If players want realistic suburbs, they'll need to make 10-cell deep blocks and just landscape the unzoned terrain themselves.

I'll make a district called Kwokland, and make a theme placing only your buildings in the list for now. :D

    They look fantastic!

Yesterday I was touring Google Maps a little in search of inspiration for my city, and now that I've seen your L1-3 buildings I wonder, would it be an idea to make the L4/5 buildings wall-to-wall houses using the same wood textures. Buildings like that are quite common in many US cities (like these in Bushwick, Brooklyn - there are entire neighborhoods with buildings like these), and would supplement both the L1-3 buildings and Feindbild's (and other's) Brooklyn building collection. It's already possible to create pretty realistic American inner cities with all the Americana assets from the Workshop, but imo. one of the things still lacking are houses that bridge the gap between sub-urban detached and low density urban wall-to-wall.

I'd go with that! I lived in Brooklyn just around the corner from that spot on the map for a while...

Anyway the new assets are great! Thanks

Lovely little houses. I had them grow in my city. There still seems to be that issue with white seams though.

    Spoiler

Cool! Ok, i'll try to minimize the effect of white seams.

the uvs tend to shrink or enlarge depending on camera position. I'll see if i can reduce the effect

Hey, as mentioned before, I love these houses!

But while checking some stuff for my farms with meshtools, I noticed something about your LODs. They are with 280-380 triangles very high. I looked at them with the LOD toggler, and they are allmost as detailed as your mainmodels. For small houses like these, it should be possible to reduce them to around 40-50. I fear 300 triangle LODs on small buildings like these will affect the framerate, especially on a weaker pc. I allready noticed framerate drops in comparison to a theme with ~30 triangle LODs on an samesized (big) district.

Pls dont get this wrong, as said I really love them,.. but you should reduce your LODs to the basic shapes of the building, something like this:

Thanks! I Will be fixing them. I didn't want to lose the basic shape of the object by doing so. I'll see what I can shave off.

Updated L2 House 5 (all lot sizes) on Steam : Lower LODS, and lowered the tris across LOD and regular model. (It turns out I left an old model of smoke stack inside the roof :p)

    Hey Guys!
I recently uploaded L3 House 6, but I'm trying to fix a wierd bug with its LOD

When I load the new model in the Asset Edtior, the LOD looks like this:
    3P5xUIF.jpg

However, when I load it in game, it looks like this:

    hVuitzV.jpg

When I go back in to the editor, its now different then the first time!

    NiAU4cR.jpg

I re-imported the new models, and they look fine! So i repeated the process, believing i made an error somewhere, Save as a new asset, LODs look normal, I exit the Asset Editor and re-entered and loaded the new lot again, LODS look fine. I deleted the originals. When I go back to my city, the LODS of my new lots are bugged! I exit out of the city, reload my new lots and the new models are displaying the bugged LOD!

    Whats going on?

I would check the LOD texture resolutions, at least the last 2 shots look like an unsupported resolution.

    They are all 384x118

Should they be divisible by a certain amount?

Still confused why It looks normal until loaded in the game.

118, is only divisible by 2, might change that to 128

Well, it seems like not having my texture resolution divisible by more than 2 can cause problems. Not sure what the exact number is (possibly 32, 64?) , but 128 works! I just stretched all my textures from 384x118 to 384x128, and it loads fine in-game.

    Steam Version has been updated
    L3 house 6 includes 1x1, 1x2 and 2x2

Your 1x1 houses look great! I really like your attention to detail with multiple lot sizes and aesthetically-pleasing yards.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

    Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

Textures must always be a power of two.

better scale them to 256x128 or something like that.

They look great. However, that brick is REALLY saturated and bright...I think your buildings would only benefit by toning it down a bit. Otherwise I've only got positive things to say!
