According to the description it has some known issues but still......81 tiles is a reality now thanks to emf. Can your system handle it? I'll try it out whenever I reach that 25 tile limit. I'm still on 4 tiles so far.

I love it...Everything works except that my game freezes every minute...Not sure if it's my computer(with empty map I got CPU usage: 45% - Memory use 66%) or some issue with the MOD itself

I have to admit that I'm still working on my first 9 tiles, although I'm getting closer to using those. I guess it will be a long time until I have to look at a mod like this. Still impressive

ow god, don't know if I'll be able to resist the temptation.

Does anyone who tried this mod already knows if it's possible to add functional extra outside connections (highway, rail) with this mod?

81 tiles... that's 9 times the area the developers intended for us to play on. Which, already, is near the limit of what my computer can handle.

I'd like to try it once I get a new computer, though! I bet you could make some rather impressive cities using this and a few other mods. Or maybe even a network of smaller, self-sustained towns. It'll be nice to see what people will come up with in a year, or two, or ten...

I already use the 25 tile mod, but this one would be even more awesome. Don't know if my laptop could handle it, though.

I'm thinking this would be good for sprawl. I always liked seeing more rural regions in SC4 with towns spread across long distances with woods and farmland. (Where's Pegrod BTW?)

In that case it should not be a strain on any system. It would only end up like Ultimate727's avatar^^ if you try to build a megatropolis on the whole darn map with a less than capable machine.

Is this even practical considering the apparent object count limitations in the game?  It would seem you'd only be able to construct sprawl in order to spread that count out over all the tiles.

True but I suspect the tree, building and population limits have a bulls-eye on them by modders.

Someone already started hacking the tree limit. Looks like the mod was taken down though for some reason. The jackhammers are out.

Unfortunately you're still limited to the default 4 rail and highway connectors. However, if your map has NOT utilized all 4 highway connections yet, you can create infinite road/avenue connections to the outside. Take a look here. Picture is a bit cloudy. :P

Once you add in the remaining highway connections...

I'm not quite sure of how functional these networks are, but they certainly make sure that your city's road network doesn't just abruptly end.

Thanks for testing. Could you check if any newly added highway and rail connections are functional though? On the map I created for Forkton I only made one 6 lane highway through the area, and have 3 rail connections to the outside.

I would like to use this mod to add one or two extra highway connections (would be wonderful if I could add functional highway ramp connections for my '2 lane rural highways' :)

I can confirm that new highways (including the ramps!) and rail connections are functioning and can spawn traffic. Road and avenue connectors are purely cosmetic at this point but I have my faith in the modding community for that. :)

I'm still trying to fill my 25 tile mod area. Besides, once you get to 81 tiles, you're going to have to set it up as a bunch of interconnected towns, because cims won't be able to efficiently commute to work across that big a zoned area, so working would likely be local, or maybe regional among a town cluster. Would look cool, though.

too bad we have road, tree and building limitations,

I think we have too many limitations. Maybe modders will find a way to extend them or maybe a new update on the game will.

Actually the CITIES SKYLINES developers knew exactly what they were doing and didn't limit future expansion when they developed the game. Unlike Maxis, if they had built hard limits into the game we would not be able to mod it like we are able to now.  I have a desktop pc and as soon as I bought the game I unlocked 25 tiles. I did this because this allows a realistic city of small to medium size. My computer doesn't know the difference between 9 or 25 tiles. I'm very anxious to have 81 which is more realistic but I'll wait for the bugs to be worked out. Computer hardware has far surpassed software so we can now really enjoy our game.

Given the pace at which the community is embracing & modifying the game, are there plans to increase the population limit? Because as it stands, 1million Cims doesn't even correlate to any meaningful number programming-wise. Clearly players don't care if their PC melts down or overloads, & I think that's part of the beauty when SC4 came out; seriously pushing the boundaries of what most players PC could handle. But as time & technology progress, this will (should) be less of an issue.

No plans. But hey, we're flexible! I've only seen a few people even get remotely close to 1 million, so I don't think it's a limit that will be pushed for quite some time.

I think more important than the 1 million pop limit is the object count.  Should be unlimited polys, props, trees, roads, buildings, and everything; as much as you can fit on the map.  At your own risk of course.

But if you don't think a few people are going to be running this game on several-thousand-dollar super rigs, you've misunderestimated the PC community, which is a fatal mistake

There seems to be several problem with the mod.

Asset editor & map editor broken when the mod is on.

Then, sometime building don't seems to grow until I restart / reload my game. At one time I have my residential demand almost max, zone a large area - nothing grow. Until I restart game...

But wait, aren't these maps' purchasable area just 7x7 tiles... How is it the mod says 9x9=81? I confuse.......   :boggle:   :boggle:   :boggle:

I don't think this can qualify as 9x9... Or is it my game missing something?

(rough sketch, grid not 100% accurate)

    Shp9ksr.jpg

Let say it just 14km x 14km and no limitation. It does have enough space to fill a small city, but to be honest, the game doesn't really feels that huge at all.

It is like everything are twice the size in the game... road 16 meter width?!

Sure, that's because the stupid road actually have 6 lanes in it... 4 road lanes and 2 pedestrian lanes. I hope someone will mod true to size road in the future... 1 square is pretty much sufficient.

Road in my place are 900mm + 3700mm + 3700mm + 900mm = 9.2 meter complete with 3ft pedestrian at both sides. And not all roads are equip with pedestrian, cutting it down to 7.4 meter width.

Here is the city I live at, the game SHOULD comfortably fit the whole city in...
Maybe someday I'll try to draw those major roads into the game and see how it goes.

But one thing you can easily notice is - that size of airport in real world... The airport in the game is for ANTS!

    zxSRHRM.jpg

On the limitation factor - beside the currently widely known limit of pop amount, road segment, trees amount... There seems to be a cap of public transport lines too.

I thought I saw a post on Reddit about that yesterday, limit around 250 lines, or 250 stations? I forgot... Where the hell is that post now I can't find it...

    .......

Argh I think I just break my game after a re-install... Tiles position and size are wrong on the purchase screen for existing save games...

Very sorry to hear that xonedl.  This is why it's so important to back up our games before exploring the unknown. This mod still seems to be unstable. Some say they have no problems, some do.  When you say "won't install new mods" what do you mean? All your mods are broken in game?

I think modders need to do more extensive testing and stop rushing out unfinished mods. It's nice to show us whats being worked on, but if it's not ready or could have some potential big problems for users, it should not be released to public unless it's a beta test.

Nvm about that I just edited my post.

Now gotta sub-unsub a couple times before steam want to download the mod and activate it... Sometime it just place it in the "workshop" category but not seen at the "mod" category...

Yes, the old mods won't download either... I just paste back the backup I have but not all are working properly.

It is 7x7 and only 49 tiles, no idea why they are calling it an 81 tile mod. Yes, the game is small, nothing like the scale of SC4, it annoys me already.
