Look like It's Done.....81 Tiles Mod
bluespottedhorse replied to Mr_Maison's topic in Cities: Skylines Modding - Open Discussion
Actually the CITIES SKYLINES developers knew exactly what they were doing and didn't limit future expansion when they developed the game. Unlike Maxis, if they had built hard limits into the game we would not be able to mod it like we are able to now. I have a desktop pc and as soon as I bought the game I unlocked 25 tiles. I did this because this allows a realistic city of small to medium size. My computer doesn't know the difference between 9 or 25 tiles. I'm very anxious to have 81 which is more realistic but I'll wait for the bugs to be worked out. Computer hardware has far surpassed software so we can now really enjoy our game. -

I like your work and especially the bus station, but you'll need to add a loop to your bus station so the buses can get out. -

Should I buy this game?
bluespottedhorse replied to thehandyman's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
I didn't read other posts but here is my take. I've played every version of SimCity with the exception of the latest which bombed horribly. I just purchased Cities skylines and cannot stop playing it. Need I say more! Pros: 1. It is the SimCity or any city building game you always wanted but never got, with one exception, it even better than your dreams. My hat goes off to the developers for their incredible work. 2. Incredible graphics 3. Nice sized maps. I'm playing the 25 map mod (10x10km) 4. Very moddable (if that's what your into) 5. Incredibly seamless online/steam integration Cons: I'd have to say with honesty that I'm hard pressed to find any but here goes. 1. Road merges too short need more work (not realistic) 2. No back alleys 3. No 4 or 6 lane roads without a medium 4. Maps already bigger than anything we've every played but they need to be much, much, larger to be a realistic city. Computer hardware is much further ahead than software so it's very doable. -
Accurate NYC map to scale?
bluespottedhorse replied to Charizard's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
If you want an accurate map use the cities skylines web tool at http://terrain.party/ You can select anywhere in the world. -
Hi Ronnix. Just use the Cities skylines free webapp, http://terrain.party/ It reminds me of the old SC4 map creator but much better. With this you can scroll anywhere in the world and choose any place you want.

Small roads , are not that small
bluespottedhorse replied to eugenio1982's topic in Cities: Skylines Modding - Open Discussion
I would compare a real city to Cities Skylines to get an idea of size versus population. I don't think the game is too far off because realistically 5x5 tiles is not a large space to build nor could one get a large population on it unless you created a city like Manhattan, Tokyo or Hong Kong. Most of the cities in the world with a population of 1 million are very large in size. -
Cities: Skyline is out to satisfy where SimCity couldn't
bluespottedhorse commented on Dirktator's article in News
Lets come back to reality. 36 square kilometers is very small and a small city could be compared to being 100 square MILES or 160 square kms This only equals a city 10x10 miles or 16x16 kilometers. For example Regina, Sask, Canada is 145.5 km in size which is quite small and has a population of only 230k. If you google map Regina you'll see it's approx. 8x8 miles roughly. One could easily walk across it in a couple hours if you walked fast. 36 km square or 6x6 is equivalent to a 4x4 mile piece of land. Just to give some perspective on size an International airport require roughly 2 miles of runway. However, this is a thousand times better than what SimCity is offering us. -
SimCity Developer Working on New AAA Game: “Critical” for Maxis’ Growth
bluespottedhorse commented on Haljackey's article in News
My advice is to keep it simple and creative. The latest Simcity focused too much on Data and not providing enough of the tools necessary to be creative, ie. unlimited map size, ability to add custom content and realism. Unfortunately, we received neither these 2 very basic tools that allow a player to be able to create as he or she chooses. Take SC4, it continues to reinvent itself because it provides tools to be creativity and customizable. -

State of SimCity: Offline Being Discussed; Bigger Maps Not Coming
bluespottedhorse commented on SilentMage's article in News
As consumers all of us have the right to voice our concern about SIMCITY since without us...they would not have a job or paycheque. I don't have any sympathy for the creators of SIMCITY because the Simtropolis community has been expressing our wants and desires for over 10 years. Further, the concensus was always around being able to create freeflow roads, larger cities, and keeping the ability to modd. To date, I have never seen a post from anyone asking for SMALLER CITIES, DRM only or a request to limit our MODDING capabilities. Obviously, EA was not listening. Had EA refreshed SC4 with freeflow roads, larger cities, and kept the modding, I think most of us would of been quite happy to continue playing SC4. My advice to everyone is don't settle or except an unfinished product. Keep your money in your pocket, it's just that simple.
