Actually... any mod you "subscribe" at Steam Workshop, it will automatically be downloaded to your game.

Thanks.

That's assuming the modder actually uploads it to Steam.  It does appear that more modders outside of Steam are trending towards manual installs and not providing Steam links...  :(

I added an annotation into the video that reminds people to go into their games and activate their mods via the Content Manager under the 'Mods' tab. Hope you guys remembered to do that :).

But Mods like KFC don't pop up right away so if we had an area for Popable Commercial Buildings that people have made that would be good.

Hey guys having a slight problem, my partner found the mod "Chirpy Exterminator" on the Steam workshop subscribed to it, but upon loading the game hound the annoying Chirpy was still in residence.

Also the game did not prompt him to install the modd or anything.

    Any help would greatly appreciated.

Did you make sure the mod was on in the 'Mods' tab (in-game)?

    Ok, I've found some directories.

Firstly, to place mods and maps and so on:

    /Users/MJC/Library/Application Support/Colossal Order/Cities_Skylines

    To view screenshots:

    /Users/MJC/Library/Application Support/Steam/userdata/224704877/760/remote/255710/screenshots

Steam Workshop addons: (All the mods here have badly named folders, so finding a specific one may take a while)

    /Users/MJC/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/workshop/content/255710

To view preview shots from the asset or map editor:

    /Users/MJC/Library/Application Support/Steam/userdata/224704877/255710/remote

    Hope this helps. :)

I have a problem. I can't seem to install mods manually.

When I go to my C drive under my user name there is no Appdata map.. It just isn't there.
So I tried to search it and I did find the appdata map afther a while, however the only thing in this map is a windows map, no colossal order nor paradox, nothing.

    Hopen anyone can help.

    Schermafdruk%202015-04-18%2017.25.37_zps

So I finally found a mod map. as you can see it's not even near where to normally find it.
However is does not display any of the installed mods I have but rather the costom mods that come with the game.

    Schermafdruk%202015-04-18%2017.23.02_zps

So I tried to find where my mods are installed and I found it. So these folders are my mods. Should I manually unpack the crp files here? It's quite an unusual location don't you think?

To find your mods folder on windows: Hit WindowsKey+R or open the Run dialogue then paste this in:

    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Addons\

And thats it, put assets in assets folder, mods in mods, etc.

Mods need to have their own subfolder inside the Mods directory though.

The screenshot you show is for Steam mods that you subscribe to.

Thankyou, That's the only way I can find this map. When I go to the folders manually they don't show and there are no hidden folders either. According to my computer this folder doesn't exist unless i search for it with the code you provided. Even when I reverse my way out of the folders I come to a point where I come in my users folder and the folder appdata is missing. However it is clearly there because I can find it with your link.

    It just doesn't make sense;

That's a windows explorer setting. Usually system files and folders are invisible to users (you) unless you uncheck within explorer settings ;)

Did you pirate the game? You may not have those directories if that's the case.

i was downloading buildings and some have readmes to put the mod into an assets folder and some do not have instructions at all ,so do all the buildings go into an assets folder?if this is the case how can we tell what files would go into just the main mod folder and what ones will go into an assets?

Someone please correct me if I am incorrect (as I am at work and do not have the game open in front of me), but the file type for your downloaded files should be in a .crp format. This is the file type that the asset editor spits out. These should go into the mods folder. Anything else (.txt for readme, for example) are not needed. I believe the assets folder is for props. Again, someone please correct me if I am wrong.

thats what is confusing me they are .crp files but the  readmes say to make a assets folder and place the files in there

for example heres the  instructions for phoenix tower:

    Installation (Windows) :
The .crp file inside the archive must be placed in c/:users/[yourname]/AppData/Local/Colossal Order/Cities_Skylines/Addons/Assets
If there is no "Asset" subfolder you can create it yourself. (happens if you haven never created any new asset).
If you can't see these directories, change your windows explorer options to "show hidden files and folders"
