No overpass models currently exist for NWM.

However, you can use your RHW to overpass NWM networks. Here's an example with a Ave-6:

IC now what i need to do, thanks!

Is that a photo from your 'from scratch' series? If so, i'd like to know what part so i could go back and watch you build it.

Thanks for the help!

Yes it is. I actually built/modified it over several parts.

Initial construction (just past midway)

-A refit was done during the next part

Widening (near the end)

-Continued at the start of the next part

There are two additional parts which show retrofitting the ramps to widen the nearby bridges. This can be seen at the end of Part 55 and the start of Part 56. (I Don't want to clutter this post with too many video embeds.)

Hello all,

I'm having a problem with my computer and I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the NAM.  I had this exact same problem months ago (sometime after installing NAM 31.2) which resulted in my having to reformat my computer.  Since reformatting I have had no issues until now.

After reformatting and installing SC4 I'm pretty sure I installed NAM 31.1, everything ran just fine.  Yesterday I installed NAM 31.2.  Today when I start my computer I am getting the same errors I had months ago and I can only run my computer in safe mode.

The error mentions something about insufficient security rights.  As I recall during installation of the NAM it mentioned something about having to temporarily take control of system administrator rights during the installation.  Could this be a cause of my problems?

I am running XP, SC4 is fully patched.

The automata plugin "radical_persistent" shows almost no automatas on the roads compared to "Radical/Radical24h". Radical_Persistent shows the same amount of automata as Maxis Standard shows.

That's because the Radical_Persistent displays automata levels depending on game time. Radical_24_Persistent displays constant automata levels regardless of the game time. Radical_Persistent displays large amount of traffic during rush hour, and less traffic during work/off hours, while Radical_24_Persistent displays large amount of traffic regardless of time.

If you have installed the 4GB patch, as it sounds like you have, then the NAM may have something to do with this.  In your root directory on your boot disk, you should find two files, boot.ini and boot.ini.bak.  These are system files, and they are normal hidden, so you want to make sure that your file manager is set to show hidden files.  If you see both files there, remove boot.ini and rename boot.ini.bak to boot.ini.  This should solve your problem.  (This is documented in the installer.)

I've reinstalled NAM and I've changed from "Radical_persistent" to just "Radical" (not 24 hours) and now I have a lot of cars on my highways, and they appear more during rush hour. I've read that that the cause of this problem maybe "persistent automata mod", that shows less cars on roads, even in rush hour.

If you read the lasts comments on this link of persistent automata mod, you'll see that I'm not the only who's having problems with this mod '-'

EDIT: I've forgot the link XD

Worked like a charm.  Thank you Z1.  I'll have to take time to read through things more carefully in the future.

Hi, this is about monorail that has been changed into bullet train mod.
Here the problem. When I drag a monorail over RHW, it seems like this:

anm_zps3f2927c4.jpg?t=1383184276

But when I use HSR starters in each opposite, somehow it works. Why? Do I must use the starters to make monorail over RHW works?

The Bullet Train mod's RHW crosslinkage wasn't designed to NAM 31 RHW specs, and thus, doesn't work properly.  That is something we are aware of and are working to address.

I think it would be perfect to add guide arrows to the preview models of the L1, L2, L3, L4 RHWs because when using Euro textures, the inner shoulder and outer shoulder look the same to me. So that requires me to activate the 'DrawPaths' cheat to check if the pathing is right.  :boggle:

Have you patched your game? It's likely (though a bit unusual) that the installer might be misunderstanding your installation if it's not patched correctly. What is your game's version number? It should be something like 1.1.638 (iirc).

Also, fear no (concerning the Rush Hour expansion); it's referring to it being available to buy. If forced to buy the game, the Deluxe version (which just has Rush Hour expansion baked into the default game) often goes on sale for very low ($5 or so) prices at Amazon.com and Steam (and others).

Hmmm... sounds like you have an unpatched game. Patch the game with the SKU1 (depending on your region, SKU2) update and try again. :whatevs:

Aha, that's the culprit! You have an unpatched version. To download the patches, hover over the 'ST/Exchange' button above, then click on 'Official Patches'. If you bought your game from North Amera, download SKU 1, if you bought your game from elsewhere, download SKU2. Other note, it's recommended to install the 1.1.640 update, so you can have nightlights on custom BATs. Be sure you've installed the 1.1.638 update before you install the 1.1.640 update. ;)

I'm looking for a new laptop and is there anything I should know about SC4 / NAM 31.2 before getting a Windows 8 system?

No. As a Windows 8 user, it works fine. But personally, I think you should avoid Windows 8 when you can if you have to option to get Windows 7 instead. I would also avoid Macs, since the NAM 31.2 and Macs don't play well with each other...

Agreed.  Windows 8 has some quirks, but the things that apply to Windows 7 will work.  8 is simply NT6.2 while 7 is NT6.1.  Differences in the kernel are slight, but the human interface is the big difference if you take the default.

As a Vista user I'm not really into neither 7 or 8 so what are these quirks you mention? I can live with the new interface, especially now that Windows 8.1 has made the classic desktop a bit more as it used to be.

To be honest, 7 is what Vista should have been and is better in almost every way (Taskbar (Chunkier and does a good job of hiding information) and Libraries (Inflexible abstraction layer on top of the traditional 'My {function}' directories) are the only real exceptions, Vista did these better). As for the quirks in 8, it's almost all in the UI. It's a hybrid mess that has no reason to exist. The other quirk are the UEFI restrictions imposed which makes installing another Operating System install and run a pain and are solely there to stop people from installing Linux.

The only way to make Windows 8 look like Vista or 7 is to install Classic Shell on it, which brings back some parts of the old interface like a Win7 styled start menu. But Windows 8 is no improvement over Windows 7, especially when you don't use social networks that much and you don't have a touch screen, like me

I've seen at least one post that stated that old versions of DirectX (9.0c for instance) will not install on Windows 8.  With Windows 8 is seems Microshaft was more interested in shutting out the competition by making use of some provisions in UEFI, and also slamming the door on some of their own older software.  Otherwise, it is business a usual.

Their dog-in-the-manger attitude will one say cause the demise of their company.

has anyone noticed on the ERHW-6s type D1 ramp there is a bad texture mismatch on the side with the on/off ramp that makes a very big gap in the wall?

The new L2 RHW-6S has been revised, but the ramp interface is still in V5 Spec. It's just cosmetic though... ;)

The same thing appears on the old transitions for the L2 RHW 6S and 6. One can use the new Flex height transitions so I do not expect they will be updated. Also the D1 ramp will be made into a FlexRamps so I think a newer model may be made for it.

I was wondering how to get the fractional angle ramps to connect with the fractional angle puzzle pieces. If I build a ramp, the puzzle pieces will not connect. They avoid snapping on to the ramp.

Also, make sure you're moving the puzzle piece up to the ramp from the right "side". Depending on the direction of the piece, you sometimes have to bring the puzzle piece in from 3(?) tiles away and rotate it until it fits.

I can't get any OneWayRoad bridges to work. In the NAM documentation, it says that OneWayRoad bridges were added, but when I try and drag it across a river I get an error that says "Cannot build network on this terrain type". All other road networks work perfectly including street bridges. Am I supposed to be using a puzzle piece?
