I did download both links and it was the NWM road icon with the small white arrow. But Ok, I was going to try emptying my plugins folder, but I thought I might of forgot to download something. Thanks for your help!

The only thing NWM needs is NAM, and NAM does not require anything. Well...

That reminds me... Do you have an updated version of Deluxe or Rush Hour? I was assuming you did since you didn't say anything wasn't working. These do require that. They won't run on regular SimCity 4.

Yes, I do have rush hour, I emptied my plugins folder and i reinstalled NWM and NAM. I took some pictures of the same results as I got before. I can only show one picture due to the file size limit, but the others show the same idea.

The only thing that causes the red arrow bug is the presence of an outdated RUL controller file that does not contain a definition for the menu icon you're trying to use. From the looks of it, it is loading after your NAM installation and preventing the NAM from working.

In your particular case, MrJolteon, it appears that the Road Overpasses button isn't working. Given that was one of the first features added to the NAM, the culprit plugin is likely something predating the NAM, such as one of the pre-NAM "transit bugfixes" or "transit supermodd" files from 2003-2004. You'll need to find and remove that file. I'd also recommend trying to empty your Plugins folder entirely except for the NAM and see if that fixes things.

See FAQ Item #1 on the NAM FAQ for more details on the red arrow bug.

-Alex (Tarkus)

That wasn't the case, I solved it.

Apparently, a mod was conflicting with the left-hand version of the NAM, making nothing work, except from the roundabouts.

Looking at your image, it appears that you have plopped several starter pieces to make your roads. That's what those brighter white edges on every fourth piece mean. You don't need to form your roads like that. Just plop one starter and drag a road from the end section on either side. Also, after dragging 5 or 6 tiles of road, you can delete the starter pieces. If you don't, you won't be able to drag a road across them. That's why you can't make the intersection in your picture. The starter pieces are next to the place where they should cross.

Here's a couple images to demonstrate...

    NWM1-1.jpg

This shows that I have plopped two starter piece away from where the intersection will be and then am dragging a road from one of them.

    NWM2-1.jpg

This one shows the completed intersection. I have placed a box around the brighter starter pieces.

    Hope this helps...

Oh my gosh, I tried using the avenue button but I never used the road button. WOW, that was a million times easier than I thought!!

You don't actually need to use the road button - you can just type 'r'.

...i have moved all plugins to other location put only nam back in re downloaded nam and real high way even downloaded essentials get box with gray arrow but it wont place any starters.

If you installed NAM again with a previous NAM version in the Plugins, that could be causing your problem. Try installing in a totally empty Plugins folder. Plus, you won't need to get the Essentials download. It currently contains the same in the current NAM version.

Also, you do have SC4 Deluxe or Rush Hour? NAM requires one or the other.

i have the deluxe SC4 did as you said deleted nam and downloaded it got the pieces now but now i got this what am i missing post-161374-0-22050500-1310075471_thumb.

Well, assuming you're using Peg's Oops Mod to get rid of the brown boxes, it looks like you're missing models for catenaries on the HSR track. Did you have a catenary mod? If so, did you put all of your plugins back in?

Well I got the main roads to work, but I am unable to connect to other cities, i tried using neighbor connection NWM, but it doesn't work. It doesn't show the arrows that shows it connected to the region either.

You need to drag the roads off the map to form the connection. Then place the neighbor connection pieces on top of the roads for the connections to function correctly.

A brief note to everyone who has worked on the NAM:

HOLY SHMOLIES, BATMAN! I step away for a few years, and you have created a veritable cornucopia of new network possibilities. What you have created is nothing short of incredible.

Over the past few years, I have gotten ever more busy with going back to school (while working full time) etc. So even if I did remember anything from the early transit modding days, I wouldn't really have much time to help out. In the mean time though, I'm hoping to spend a couple hours a week actually ENJOYING the fruits of all of your labor. It is... simply incredible. Believe it or not, I never really spent much time playing SC4 even back in the day. I spent all my time looking in RUL files ;)

    Three cheers to everyone!

And three cheers to you, too--had it not been for your initial efforts in modding and in getting the NAM going, we probably wouldn't be here. Great to see you here, T7T! :golly: On behalf of the NAM Team, thanks for the very kind words!

I just downloaded the NAM and have some questions.

    1) The Tram/Light Rail in Intersections.

How to do make the Trams/RL go through the intersections? I cannot seem to figure out how..

    2) High Monorail/Elevated Rail Pieces

What are their usage? I dont see the use of them, besides having them go over Elevated Highway. But it wont let me do that either.

Am I missing other downloads needed to make these work?

    Welcome to Simtropolis...

I just downloaded the NAM and have some questions.

    1) The Tram/Light Rail in Intersections.

How to do make the Trams/RL go through the intersections? I cannot seem to figure out how..

What type of intersection do you mean? Here's some examples of what you can do. There are several pieces available for a variety of intersections. Select the menu item ans use "Tab" to cycle through the pieces.

    High4.jpg

    2) High Monorail/Elevated Rail Pieces

What are their usage? I dont see the use of them, besides having them go over Elevated Highway. But it wont let me do that either.

Possible uses for the high pieces would be for going over other raised networks when they're in use. For example, over raised road or avenue and viaduct rail...

    High3.jpg

Am I missing other downloads needed to make these work?

NAM does not require any other downloads. All the pieces you have asked about here are included in the NAM, provided you chose the options for them.

Let us know if there is something specific you're thinking of...

So I've seen FAR Avenue (FAA?) used in some pictures recently posted in some topic, and I searched EVERYWHERE through my menu for them but I can't find any such pieces. Are they a personal development by the person, or am I missing something? I just recently re-downloaded all my NAM components a few months ago...are they out of date already?

They are in development and haven't been released yet. Stay tuned...

Alright thanks. I get the feeling that there's going to be a new huge release of NAM/RHW content really soon...the suspense is killing me! Despite your supposed lack of release dates, you guys are actually great at getting these updates out every summer. Thanks for the unending diligence and hard work.

Okay, I just started playing SC4 again yesterday, and just downloaded the NAM. I had it before and loved it. But this time, after I downloaded it all of the 'props' (I think that's what they're called) disappeared from my cities. For example, all parking lots, park benches and trees, and residential fences are suddenly gone. Can someone help me with this?

    Thanks

Did you update your game with the game patches, also? You might check your graphics settings. It sounds like they may have been set to "Low". This often happens when updating the game, not installing NAM, but who knows...

I didn't think of that! I had uninstalled the game, and then lost my disk, but downloaded it from Amazon yesterday and forgot to update it! I'll try that and see if it fixes my problem. Thanks!

I probably wasn't clear... The graphics aren't low because the game wasn't updated, but the update procedure often resets the settings to Low. After you update the game, check the settings. They may be on "Low".

Lol... I just figured that out... Sorry, after I downloaded the update, and the problem was still occurring, I understood what you meant. I checked my graphics settings, and you were right, they were set to low. I changed the settings and my city is back to normal. But thanks for reminding me to update anyways! lol

The NAM is gone, I was going to download it. Where did it go?! :(

Someone erroneously reported the file as "broken", and it flat out disappeared shortly thereafter. That's about all I know.

Regarding NAM (PC Version)... The "site boss" is looking into what happened to it and is making efforts to get it back up. In the mean time, you can use the LEX download (link in the preceding post) or the manual version (for Mac) on the STEX. Thanks...

NAM Windows has been reuploaded to the STEX here. Please note that this is still Version 29--we're not quite ready with Version 30 yet.

The Railway Addon Mod (RAM) Single-Track Rail (STR) Plugin, originally released in 2009, has also been uploaded to the STEX. You can find it here:

    Hello,

I have recentky installed the NAM and have redesigned part of my town. Being from Europe I was really excited with the possibility to create a old style downtown with a tramway running through avenues. However after spending countless hours learning how to put the puzzle pieces together to complete my mini network I was disappointed to realize that no tramways were actually running.

My sims do use public transportation, but only the bus. How can I fix it? What stops should I use for my sims to get on and off the tram system?

Thank you who could help me.
