I have recentky installed the NAM and have redesigned part of my town... However after spending countless hours learning how to put the puzzle pieces together to complete my mini network I was disappointed to realize that no tramways were actually running.

You do need to get stations for the GLR network. They are not included in the NAM. The RTMT set can be found here and the Addon set here. There are other stations available. You might search the STEX for GLR Stations.

Also, make sure you have the correct drive-side component of NAM installed. Improper files could cause rail networks not to function.

Fantastic! Thanks CaptCity, I finally have tram running. I don't see them on the city view but I verified with the traffic volume control. It is just too bad there are only GLR station on avenues, I guess my tram on street ways will only be for the "pittoresque" .

    Thanks again.

I totally forgot to link to this set. It includes stations for Tram-in-Road and Tram-on-Road. And this one is for Tram-on-Streets.

WOW that is a lot of work other users have put into improving the gaming experience. Once again big thank you. I will check the downloads you linked me to. Maybe later on when I am satisfied of its look I will post photos of my region. I will have to give credit to a lot of people then.

You have a conflicting, outdated controller file that is overriding the new NAM controller, and preventing any new NAM items from working. Scroll down to the bottom of the Highways menu, and you should see a button with a NAM Logo on it. Hover over it and it'll tell you what controller build you're currently running. If it says anything other than "Version: r132 (14 September 2011)", new NAM content will not function. You'll need to find and remove the conflicting file.

It says version r85 15 August 2010. Can you give me any idea of where to look for this file? Thanks for all your time in making this game even better.

r85 is the controller used in NAM Version 29, so you still have pieces of your old NAM installation somewhere in your Plugins. If you use the SC4 DatPacker tool, it's possible there may be a NAM file in the Plugins_Compressed folder it generates.

The new NAM has been absolutely great, and the graphical improvements to certain transit parts is excellence.

    However:

Did I mix-up something while installing or is that a pathing error for lhd for the filler piece?

Doesn't look like an installation error, but perhaps a placement error. It looks to me like the piece is in upside down somehow--I'd try rebuilding it. That problem doesn't seem to be occurring in RHD, and there's no path/texture/model remapping involved with its LHD version.

I don't have that installed. Anywhere else?

There's quite a number of places it could be, then. It could be in your Program Files\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Plugins folder, or it may be in a subfolder in the regular My Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins folder. The game loads Plugins based on folder alphabetically, so check folders (and loose files) that come after "Network Addon Mod" alphabetically.

Actually, when you look in closer detail, the paths are OK, but only the model is flipped. That's quite odd indeed.

We could do one of the following two things: flip the paths or flip the models. Both solutions are quite easy to do, since there are already flipped models available for this particular piece: just pick the other half of the elevated avenue and you're done!

Currently, I can do anything about it myself (I'm typing this from a computer without SC4 and my modding tools).

    Best,

    V30 testing.

I can't seem to drag road network from both ends of a TLA starter piece, but there doesn't seem to be a directional arrow for guidance. Am i getting the wrong idea here?

What would the file name be, or which DATs have you put it in in the past?

If you're using the TLA-3, the starter only comes out one side of the piece. The starter stub comes out one tile from where you place the preview model. Alternatively, you can select the Query tool, and hover over the two tiles . . . the one that shows up yellow will be the one you can drag from, and you can bulldoze the other one (which shows up blue).

What would the file name be, or which DATs have you put it in in the past?

Do a filename search for NetworkAddonMod_Controller in your Plugins folder . . . that should hopefully find the culprit.

^ Thanks Alex. Suggest in the next round that both ends should be draggable.

EDIT Later: Just tested that, and it works fine, thanks.

Is this in the documentation? I must have missed it?

Thanks for the the new NAM, RHW and NWM, they really made my life all the better! However, I am wondering why you have not updated the components yet on Simtropolis? (Just read about the plugins exceeding the 20MB limit!)

P.S. Could you please try to merge some of the menu options for the next versions or even make this DAMN-compatible, our menus are stretching beyond belief! 49.gif33.gif

I don't think it's in the documentation, but I agree it's a good idea. Look for it next release.

Thanks, I'm glad you're enjoying them! :golly: We've discussed DAMNing the NAM, and we figured out a mechanism to do so, though that's going to be a pretty large undertaking.

Regarding the strikeout text, we have uploaded the files that are larger than the STEX limit over on ModDB. We're probably going to end up doing what SimMars did to release their Beta Version 3 on the STEX--have a STEX page but host it off site.

Alex, if you decide to DAMN, I won't be able to use it. DAMN is apparently written in some version of Python that is incompatible with my system (Linux), why I do not know. You should not use any software that is not based on standard C.

DAMN is actually just a bunch of LUA scripts, which will run anywhere that the game does. The only OS-dependent part of DAMN is the indexer, which is currently written in the Windows command language. It should be fairly simple to rewrite it in something like Java if someone wants to do it.

Thanks. Maybe I'll download it and convert it to something more portable. Have to figure out how to interface it to the game. What does LUA stand for?

I'm sure there must be some method for accessing DAMN through other OS's (I'm actually using a Mac!), but that question is for another thread... Daeley promised a Mac-compatible version, but I haven't seen any activity in that department.

If it get it done for Linux, it will be a set of scripts or a Java program or both. I believe in portability, so it will probably work for you as well. If the worst comes to the worst, it might be a portable C program in which case I'll publish the source.

    There's a few options:

    a) Download wouanagaine's BSC Cleanitol tool from the LEX at SC4D, load the Cleanitol_NetworkAddonMod.txt file into the tool, run it to remove conflicting files, then reinstall the NAM.

    b) You can to completely clear out your Plugins save for your NAM folder, and then slowly start adding things back in, trying to see just what triggers the NAM Controller Icon to go back to r85.

    c) Alternatively, if you're game to use the Reader, see ebina's tutorial on using it to find controller conflicts.

Hey. I got the same problem as dchotzen-hartzell19. Red cursor for the controller.

Just loaded the game with nothing but the latest NAM installed, still not working. And my version of the controller is "r132 (14 September 2011)".

    Any suggestions?

If you're getting it with the controller marker icon still saying "r132" as it should, it means that the conflicting RUL Controller files are either from a NAM Controller predating the NAM Version 25 release of March 2009, or a non-NAM controller.

The only thing which can cause red arrows with a NAM release is an outdated conflicting controller that does not support the newer items.
