@mitsos I think it looked better with more green space instead of more pavement.

Thank you for the comment  and the interest mate. The previous park was too simple, I wanted a plaza where my Sims could socialize, have a quick snack during lunch time etc and if you look more closely you will see that a main avenue is passing through the city connecting the city center with the southern suburbs. There is a lack of plaza in the city while big or smaller parks are almost in every corner of my metropolis. Not far away from the plaza there is a big park so I ended up with that solution. 😁

What a differrence ? Complete transformation; downtown expanded or there needed to be room for the rail line !

Thank you. There is no room to expand so I had to demolish the houses between the two avenues. I think it is worth it. The population decreased temporarily while there was an amazing rate of new constructions. I love the mechanics of this game.

Hi guys !

Here's the first time I post one of my cities on the forum, so I care a lot for your pieces of advice !

A few weeks ago I have decided to redevelop completely one of my oldest cities : Guilfaillant, which I started in 2011. The city is located here : 6457413dde9f9_LocalisationGuilfaillant.jpg.8f1ef7a8be53b55834865a69fe3b30f7.jpg

It is located on the edges of the major city, it hosts 65.000 inhabitants, and it is composed of a city center located on a hill, surounded with boulevards, a suburb-like neighbourhood and a large agricultural plain. One of the most original features of the city is a canalised stream located on the very top of the hill and crossing the center.

64574208d6dc2_OldGuilfaillant.jpg.afd5abc16111cf47d7c03f572150fcdf.jpg645741ed6e185_OldGuilfaillant2.jpg.1c558b3a158e122625af55cdd3a94e9b.jpg645741f40452e_OldGuilfaillant3.jpg.6902b8268bb6447297387f7a5c42bdcf.jpg645741fa2d3a5_OldGuilfaillant4.jpg.d1e5938bd165f1656bfc02421c571c1f.jpg

The city looked pretty bad in my opinion, because I didn't master well enough the NAM, the roads are wriggling wierdly, some intersections are... well... murderously wrong. So I have decided to start it from scratch, but I wanted to keep the general structure of the city : the center upon the hill, the stream on top of it, the suburb, the large plain with a few villages, the Maxis highways and the forest nearby.

Now the city hosts 129.000 inhabitants and I am quite proud of it !64574341472cd_Guilfaillant2.jpg.89ef428ca2447b7c2efa07f3182471a5.jpg64574348e4ee1_Guilfaillant3.jpg.98b6410f0c242e171c84f9910000c0f0.jpg6457434f198a6_Guilfaillant4.jpg.0265bea2ad7c999a67eabb9d83e8d995.jpg645743575063f_Guilfaillant5.jpg.16d2714b211feeb5dd60b926006e8543.jpgGuilfaillant.jpg.5eb5e26ea490432e55555e3066374e93.jpg

Seems like it's this one here by Bipin, I remember since it has a very distinctive look like many of his other creations

Something bothered me about that interchange. It was probably the two 45° curves, with one just before the 180° curve and ramp. I changed it to one 90° which is further away.

Looking good. I'm happy to see your Sims have not forsaken farming as I feel that adds more realism and gives a reason that the cities can flourish. (I love this region and I played it building up all tiles a couple of different times.) On a side note, would it be intrusive if I suggested an additional mod you might be interested in?

I would be the most grateful for any good piece of advice ! I actually have downloaded a lot of ploppable and growable and a few heavier mods but I have always felt a bit overwhelmed by the amount of them since I started to look at them quite late in my game experience :-)

This'll be one single file which you'll drop in your plugins. You can take your pick in: Cori's Side Water Shoppe

Thank you so much ! It is way more beautiful with this mod !

Edit : damn my clumsiness, I had downloaded the water mod a few years ago and I couldn't remember which one it was. There was a bit of fumbling around before finding the right one :-D

But here it is on a tile I had not work on for a couple of months. My goal was to transform the small and wild Salamine island into an island town :

Here's an overview of the empty island (and it is the first with Cori's side water mod :-) )

669d02b2bf756_Cybeles-Salamine.jpg.89c76735171bc5f22221d28e516a0b81.jpg

And here's the island now, filled with a nice little ferry area, a village of around 2.200 inhabitants and a market gardening zone on the eastern side :

669d02aece058_Cybeles-Salamine2.jpg.6423262ee433a316c6115ebcf460e6c1.jpg

And once a few details had been modified and the growing had stopped :
