I only have the mods on the screenshot. Your 3 files, Udon, coastlines and RCI allplop, it doesn't give me categories even after updating.

 

EDIT: I'm a confirmed idiot, I was putting my mods in SimCityUserData/Packages instead of SimCityData. Solved

Hyuga he was calling himself one :) and he's not just learning ..

 

THERE ARE NO MISTAKES in the normal sense its just new things to learn do NOT beat yourself up

 

everything gets extracted to the \SimCityData unless other wise specified

I think the spoiler pic that Yayie posted on page 2 is actually nicely done. Everything is arranged in its perpective button, which will make the game allot easier to play, and not overload one certain button with tons of stuff in it.  All the modders who have given thier time, energy and expertise in making mods for this game have done an excellent job, and have really made this game so much more fun to play. (Hope I said that right) :)  And if you should decide on a UI the one on page 2 should be used. Thank you so very much to all the modders who have made this new SimCity allot more enjoyable.

That is AWESOME!! Good job. As Xoxide was telling earlier, It is good to be able to classify mods and objects in their proper places now than 2-3 years down the road.

 

This will simplify the classification of present mods and the futures ones. Be able to modify the UI like this is a GREAT improvement to the game for the players and modders.

 

Proc: thanks for helping and sharing your knowledge to Yayie on how to do this. You also deserved to be congratulate on this!

    I'm new here and I am the one working on the graphic/icon stuff. I have no knowledge in modding but I'm here to offer my expertise and help modders to create icons. Let me know what else I can help with and will try my best. Thanks!

    Yayie didn't post it yet in mine.. but Banwashere from reddit is one of the 2 people I have working on UI / UX image and graphic templates.

     

    This is the first I can post so far but I like them

     

    I have suggested a new approach to the one ways

     

    take the 2 and 4 way ground and use a circle with a magnifying / magnifier approach to the section to call it out of lane types as  a round about without trying to make it a whole round about.

    I'm not sure we can implement these in an update even for our presentation tonight

    but they are SO on track .. I know people like them already

     

    this group is a mix here in this thread of devtesters and modders and part of the various "project Unity" Team.

     

    YOU OF WHICH are part of :)   I work as kind of lately more of a project manager working with as many people to collectively bring everything together into a single or larger project or bigger picture result.

     

    The idea is to help everyone improve the quality of mods and increase consistency and as a result via creative use of modding and menu's increase access of more complicated mods to users whom are less advanced with use

    Thanks yayie, those aren't exactly new look though. I just made it look as similar as the one maxis made for vanilla.

    Think he means NEW to the old udons hahah :)

     

    We wanted to make them look more artistically CLOSE to maxis on purpose... but yayie needs some more artwork for Akar and MaxvSK needs some for his .. we need new ones for waterways and other internal game ones that have temp icons etc

     

    So we need to or would like you to work on those so we can replace them accordingly and make everything look and feel more intuitive

     

    Yayie and Akar is about making a menu and system of menu's that feel more intuitive.  Pinky above is the one whom did the original udon images and others are involved in many aspects of what has been going on.

     

    We are trying to get more people involved and more people interested as well as open the door to people whom are not modders so eventually unified installers for pc and mac users the list of things goes ON and ON and ON

     

     

    so welcome to our little world :)

    side note just spoke with a ton of people in devtest and invited them to join us here now in the public hopefully they will come on and join in and let you know who they are so they can help all of you and the group as those whom have been more experienced with various aspects of testing and would MORE THAN BE HAPPY to test projects for the group in private from public

     

    so be aware these are NDA members and Devtesters that now are going to start getting involved in the newer mod community here on simtrop as we make transitions

     

     

    These are the people whom ripped apart nearly all our mods and tested everything that has hit the public in the last 1.2 years

     

    use them for what they are good at .. finding problems and helping with ideas.  They are some of the best people I know in general and that is why they were and are part of devtest 2.0

    Here's the revised version with 2 roundabout options. I personally prefer the one with arrows. Added a slight slope for transitions. Also, I would like to suggest adding a "R" icon on the top right to indicate this is for the Regional Udon.

    the round about I was thinking magnifying glass approach to a complete circle with that same idea under it as if your zooming to the lane types of that roundabout but getting warmer to my idea

     

    I will go with popular opinion on this not my own :)

     

    second look you could make the two merged them together and make complete circles with the two types no spaces in recycle type logo and make it look like a bw one way with roads off of it

    Regionals will in new menu's so they can be completely unique with a even larger indicator if needed I would just focus on the main UDoN and template first.. then we can figure out the rest

    Okay. Noted. By the way, the official font that Maxis used for SimCity2013 is Avantgarde. Think most modders just use whatever they have in their disposal, but let's try to use Avantgarde from now on.

    SIDE NOTE since Yayie has not posted it.

     

    He informed me that ALL RCI Plop he was given permission to integrate into Akar.  So he is working on that and will post the message he got from Nicklistin on the subject later on today.

     

    So that means most major mods are now integrated for everyones enjoyment in an easier methodology to use across the board with consistency.. think this is going to be a good step forward for everyone whom makes as well as uses the mods in game

     

    Akar will evolved as people make decisions in group and discussions to please the people whom use it

    It is indeed unique it may be copying a look but the images are unique. It is very good work banwashere has done.

    chappers they will be in everyones mods.. one at a time as they adopt the template and style .. udons were just first with the efforts.. and waterways etc.

     

    but the idea is consistency and look feel etc..

     

    MODS control everything.. Akar is more of an OVERLAY on top of all mods to make them functional.. Its part of unification and cooperation to make things look and feel more natural plain and simple that is the goal.

     

    Akar is not a concept of taking over mods and remaking them.. its about adding to what we have and making it feel natural

     

    Yayie and I have had conversations at great length on the subject and how much everyone modding needs to be respected and preserved.  Unless something was written without the akar structure in place or separate menu.package from mod.package to allow integration options ..

     

    this is all stuff that is TBA and TBD on many levels to release to the public

    ah but how does it handle other ppls mods, i mean does it automatically add other ppls mods in or does it still need somekind of input from the modders side to add them in certain menus

    Since the Akar was not available before other mods were published, we hope that the Author of the mods update their files in order for the mods to be integrated with Akar. For now Akar needs to add a separate package of the old mod's menu2 property only which linked the instaceID to Akar's, until the Author updates them. (take example of AkarRaodsets).

     

    Users still  needs to download and install other Author's mod to work with Akar because Akar does not duplicate mods.
