On monday we celebrated the german reunion and they did documentaries on TV the whole day. And they remembered also this story: in 1987 David Bowie made a concert not far away from the wall and in the eastern part of the city thousands of fans gathered together to listen to the music filling the air. Then Bowie took the microphonw and said (without seeing them, but knowing they where there): "I'll send my best wishes to you, who stands behind this wall." And then he played "Heroes". It's said this was on of those many things that triggered the protest of so many people, young and old, that two years later brought the regime down. This way, Bowie left his traces even in germanies history.
