i'm not to sure if this would be possible and not to sure where else to put it without being beheaded by the mods here so i'll post it here.

winding streets/roads/avenues/....

I have noticed that when you buildoze the "y-intersection" tile in NAM that it leaves behind avenues in the place where the intersection occupied.  would it be possible to do that with roads and make long winding curves?

like with roads you can do either horizontal/vertical or diaganol directions,  would it be possible to make a 2up 1left 2up 1left 2up 1left...... and then reverse it and make it 2up 1right 2up 1right 2up 1right...... making a long winding road?

obviously you can make the roads like this already but it would be purly visual so you don't get those nasty turns.

What about making a Transit Enabled Lot to Puzzle Piece Converter so Road Top Mass Transit or ploppable speed limit signs wouldn't block 1x wide Residential zone development anymore?

I'd like Sydney's R & S Set trains (Goninan type).

style and dimension information can be found here: http://www.cityrail.info/aboutus/trains/rs_control.jsp

The trailer carriages are found at the link under the one highlighted).

(these artist impressions are extremely accurate).

I'm primarily after the model. Once the model and (basic) textures (Left, Right, Top, etc. will do) are done, and the model's designated as a train (train, el train, subway), I can take care of the rest - I'm familiar with the process of reskinning a model.

There's a reason I'm requesting this way - I plan on doing several liveries. I plan to release these.

Don't worry, if you model these, you will get credit.

packersfan: Search for Andreas Roth on STEX. He has released a mod, that instead of adding a lot of icons, add one, an icon for a construction lot for a serial of lots. When you have place this lot, the rest of the lots appears in the menu.

After have placed the lots you wanted from the serial, you destroy the construction lot in your city and next time you reload your city the rest of the icons is gone again.

EDIT: I found it: BSC Menu Management Lot Mod

Haven't been around here in a while!  I'll try to help clean up this page...

jlemen:  (Music Track Controls)  This is a tricky one.  As far as I know this is totally exe controlled, but I'm thinking there has to be some way to script a special SFX control...?  Right now not possible, but I'll look into it.

trueplaya8892:  (Point Out Abandoned Buildings)  Well adding new zots is impossible... What kind of pointing out are you looking for?  I can't think of any solutions that would point out more than one.

Keiran Halcyon:  (Stage Levels in RCI Query)  I'm not exactly a query expert but that shouldn't be a problem to tie that property into the window.

Darkstormyeve:  (Bus Stops, Subway Stations under El Rail and Monorail)  That isn't a modding request as much as a lot request.  Someone would have to make a Transit Enabled lot that plops underneath those networks.

KyNYC: (Menus Stay Opened)  I believe that the part of the game that places lots and uses tools can't run with full menus open.  That's why cheats don't work with all of the menus open.

hahaha:  (New Zoning System)  Well, it's  impossible to add new zones.  The zones might be able to be restructured, but that is a 6/5 on the difficulty scale of modding tasks.

urbancrisis80:  That is a BATing request, not a modding request.  Visit the BAT request thread (if you haven't already)

Randomtaskk:  I'm not sure what you're asking...larger city tiles?  That's impossible.  Otherwise I don't understand.

Racecarlock:  (Pursuit Mod)  I'm not familiar with how they were going about doing that mod, but obviously it's possible.

MayorRon:  (Street Capacity)  The NAM contains files that allow you to change network capacities.  PM me if you would like details on changing the numbers yourself (with or without the NAM)

metasmurf:  (Tileset Reorganization)  Yes, but it requires every single building to be edited.  PM me if you are interested in doing this.

jmjselect:  (Winding Roads)  This is possible, but is a pain to code.  Not to mention some tiles of road will have a lot of empty space.  If you have seen the High Speed Rail project you will notice it has very smooth curves.  I will eventually attempt to make 3rd-level curve roads, possibly for the NAM, (meaning 2 or more tiles on either side of the center curve tile) but I have lots of big projects before that.

Wilfried Webber:  (Puzzle Piece/TE Lot)  Well we could do that, but then the NAM team would have everyone asking them to make their lots into puzzle pieces and we'd have to say no at some point and then people would say it's unfair and stuff...it would just be a hassle and make the NAM rotation rings just as cluttered as everyone's park menu.

cammo2003, heydudegreat:  Someone can do this...how about you?  It's usually easier to learn how to do something and then do it rather than wait around for someone else to.  There is even an automata modding thread for you to ask questions in.

oooooppppp:  There are a handful of demand mods already.  Rather than have someone do it from scratch, I'd download one of those, along with Ilive's Reader, and play around with the numbers.  There is no way to make the demand stay permanently up, but you can set it to ridiculously high numbers and make things that normally make demand go down make it go up.  Read the tutorial on how to start modding in the Omnibus.

dmrsunz:  No there isn't.  In fact there are almost no data view mods in the first place.  Mainly because the data views are mostly hard coded and making such a mod is probably impossible.

manman99:  It's pretty much impossible to add new disasters.  Changing the existing ones requires modifying the Effects Directory, something we still know very little about.  Even if we did know a lot more about it, we could only make minor visual changes and not change the general function of the disaster.  It is possible to make fog (and thus change the texture to sand storm) as a general effect.  I believe gizmo made a mod called the ground fog mod that turned up the fog settings.  It should be available at his site, but I no longer have it bookmarked. 15.gif

All:  Sorry to anyone if you felt I harshly told you to do it yourself or that it was impossible, but as you can probably see by the number of responses in this thread, there are fewer and fewer modders nowadays, and most of them already have stacks of projects, so the best way to get it done is do it yourself.  Don't be afraid of learning, every modder was clueless about modding at some point. 2.gif

Hello,

I have two mod requests that I would love to see. Maybe they already exist and you might be able to point me in the right direction.

1. Many times a building grows in the game that maybe is missing a prop, or doesn't look quite right, or grows too often. It would be great to have a custom query or tool that displays the file name of the model or lot (or both?) possibly in conjunction with the news ticker. I have a two-story row house lot that is missing a prop. I have the mod that prevents brown boxes (thankfully), but I would still love to be able to pinpoint the file names.

2. Is there a way to re-organize menus (especially the park menu) so that one can make the most-used items appear at the top and the more-rarely used items at the bottom? So often I am using Peg's forest lots along with the slope forest lot. They are at virtual opposite ends of the menu. Any instruction on how to re-order would be great.

Thanks for your consideration.

I'm pretty sure this is possible. When you get a water mod it replaces the surface of the water. But on the edge of the city tile the water is still the default water. I'm of course talking about the sides of the floating block when you're viewing the sides. Someone has modded the part that is land though. It can be found here. So it should be possible if the underground textures are possible. Somebody should make a set for the most popular water mods, like pegs. All of those would only require 2, since they are all the same color ecxept one. But that same person should have a request thread for Timotheaus4 and Eastwinn's water modds. Can it be done?

i eagerly await any news on this. i tried to do it once, but gave up deciding that the color on the side is just that: a color. since it wasnt a texture i could find, i couldn't change it. if anyone else has any insight, they're willing to share/

Well, it doesn't need to be a texture it could just be another color.

Ok a quick suggestion. The Medical Helicopter always heads to car accidents. Is it possible to create a script that spawns or forces any Firetruck/Cop Cars/Ambulances to also head there, Code 3? It's one little unrealistic thing that bothers me from time to time and dispatching is not a sufficient fix. Anybody think it's feasible/possible?
