  1. Problem Installing Region with Re-Release

SC4SC's method worked for me. Note the .jpg file is in the root of the Data folder, not deeper as per the usual directions. Thanks!
  2. Upgrading to Mac OSX Lion?

I'm happy to hear about ways to make SC4 work under Lion, but I've not been able to play SC4 since I got an IntelMac running 10.6. I looked briefly at Wineskin and I'm a little intimidated, not being a programmer. Can someone give me (or point me to) a Quick Start/Wineskin for Dummies lesson on how to set it up to run SC4? Thanks. I'm glad to see the best game forum on the internet is still going strong!
  3. How big is your plugins folder?

My plugin folder is just a couple hundred megs, never more than a half-gig. I created a folder called "plugin warehouse" (which is a couple of gig) where I keep all downloaded plugins and their related files (jpg, html, txt, etc.) Within that I have Urban/Ag, Suburban, Urban, and Military sets, in addition to a Universal set that has MegaPacks and other items I'll need regardless of city type. Within each of those I have subfolders for things like Parks, Civil buildings, Transit networks, etc. Then, before I launch SC4, I use a directory comparison utility to move the needed sets into (and out of) the plugins folder. It's more work than some people might be willing to do, but it suits me.
  4. Issues with RHW

From the RHW Dev thread at SC4D: Q: Why are only freight trucks able to use my RHW-4 or RHW-6 neighbor connection? A: There are some issues with the neighbor connection functionality on all the overriden forms of the RHW (RHW-4, RHW-6S, MIS), due to the fact that normal car traffic requires both an exit point and and entry point for all neighbor connections. While technically, there is an entry point and and exit point on the RHW, the game is not able to recognize that the entry point is on another tile, due to the RHW being a single-tile network by default (thus, the RHW-2 neighbor connection works fine). There are, however, a couple of workarounds for the RHW-4, one which involves converting to another network (Avenue or Maxis Highway) and another, which will work on RHW-4s with any width median, explained here.* Future versions will improve neighbor connection functionality. * https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=4391.0
  5. Show us your...Slope Development

My mistake. I posted to the forum I was taken to after clicking on another Show Us Your... link and I didn't check to see that I remained in the proper forum. Please lock or remove the thread.
  6. What is w2w?

Side comment to Godzillaman: In your "unrealistic" sig pic, what is the Amalienborg-esqe lot right of center in the image?
  7. PEG Security Fencing Kit

Excellent work, but I, like others here, really want them independently plop-able. I'm looking for diagonal and curved fencing for a military installation. Please help us PEG, the citizenry are walking off with the weaponry.
  8. When I use a custom freight rail station in-game, say the jestarr's Cal Fame Packing Shed or Simgoober's Freightyards, their maximum capacity is 5. What's causing this? Is there a known plugin conflict?
  9. Using Automator as Cleanitol

Thanks, hamish. I look forward to your results.
  10. Using Automator as Cleanitol

If so, would we need to talk to the Cleanitol creators before/if we release this.quote> Why? We are using the text file that the artist's generate and making no use whatsoever of any "intellectual property" of the Cleanitol crew. I wouldn't want to call it "Cleanitol for Mac" so as to avoid creating the illusion of an association between us and the BSC Cleanitol team. However, maybe hamish's version is slicker and maybe speaking to the BSC Team is not a bad idea, so I'll defer to him. In the interim, if anybody wants my version—or rather, red_menace's version—they can PM me.
  11. Using Automator as Cleanitol

The main thing the Cleanitol app does (as far as I know) is to find and remove old files that are now part of, say, a MEGA Prop or Texture pack. That's the thing I wanted to do and now have done with Automator. The Cleanitol file that comes with a download is merely a text file that lists files that should be removed. The PC Cleanitol app finds and trashes those files. The Automator file I now have (thanks to red_menace at the Apple forums) does just that. If anybody else would find this useful let me know and I'll make it available. As for jpegs and text files associated with readmes, and general plugin maintenance, I have found an app called zsCompare (Lite Edition) to be very useful. I now have what I call a Plugin "Warehouse" that stores all files associated with a plugin including optional and readme files, then I have my Plugins folder. I run zsCompare before I load SC4 and use it to copy just the required files into the Plugins folder. Of course that means I have copies of lots of files, but these days a few hundred meg not a big deal and it makes it easy to swap plugin sets. For instance, if I want to play a rural city I can load my Rural Set, and remove my Urban Set and keep my menus free of stuff I won't be needing.
  12. NAM General Discussion Thread

USING ADDITIONAL BRIDGES The text file in the Additional Bridges folder says.."Install additional bridges to this folder. Don't forget to update the "NetworkAddonMod_Bridges_Plugin_Controller.dat" after downloading new bridges." But it doesn't say HOW to update the .dat. From what I've discovered in about an hour of searching is that I need to download the NAM Essentials. When I download that (and run it through FileJuicer since I'm on a Mac) I find 3 files named: NetworkAddonMod_Essentials_April_2008[173780]-26.dat NetworkAddonMod_Essentials_April_2008[199762]-28.dat NetworkAddonMod_Essentials_April_2008[423610]-30.dat Do I just drop these files in the NAM folder? (It looks to me like FileJuicer misnamed the files somewhat). Does this update the NetworkAddonMod_Bridges_Plugin_Controller.dat? If so, then why doesn't the Additional Bridges text file just say to download and install the Essentials? If not then how do I update it? Thanks.
  13. Using Automator as Cleanitol

Has anybody with modest "programming" skills tried to mimic the functionality of the handy Cleanitol Windows app using Automator? I just cut each of a long list of items from a cleanitol .txt file one-by-one into an Automator script which looked for the file then put it in the Trash. Now if I could just figure out how to get Automator to read the .txt for itself, and automatically enter each line in Automator's search text, then run the search and trash steps we'd be home free. I'm not too bright about this type of thing but it certainly seems doable. Anybody know of any reason it couldn't be done? Better yet, anybody want to create the script and make it available to the STEX Mac community?
  14. Show us your Seaport!

This goes back a ways folks, but does anyone recognize this rail yard from aleking's first post to this thread. Is it a functioning rail yard or is it just a bunch of tracks dead-ending at a large but generic warehouse? BTW: Very nice, un1!
  15. Levelling with the ANT

Excellent! Thanks, Tarkus. Could that be the Emerson, Lake and Palmer "Tarkus", perchance?
