Amusement Park DLC

Post edited because the webpage no longer exists.  Here is a Youtube video uploaded today that I found.

I have a feeling this thread might get a little heated......

I think this is ridiculous.  $9.99 for a ploppable building (though it is upgradeable with modules).... 1/6 of the cost of the game. :lost:

Discuss.

I payed enough for my game already.

Only thing I would pay more is for region maps and bigger cities. And what annoys me the most is that if there was modding I wouldn't even have to pay for that.

As for the park price is way too high. 2.5$ would be ok.

This looks interesting. I will consider it but it does seem a little steep of a price.

This isn't a 3rd party development - it's entirely made by Maxis and might not even be exclusive to greenmangaming.

However it also isn't just one building, but rather a very simple in-game version of rollercoaster tycoon where you can build your own theme park. I'm definitely going to buy it, even though 10 dollars seems a bit steep.

The biggest problem i have is, the city size isn't even big enough for an actual amusement park.  I already dont have enough room in my cities for everything i want to put in them.

Even the Roller Coaster Tycoon maps are bigger than SimCity   :lost:

Wow!  You are right... I did not even catch that it was developed by EA/MAXIS on the side.

Can a moderator change the topic title so it will not be misleading?

You should be able to do this by editing your initial post, using the Full Editor.

If not, let me know what you'd like it changing to.

Still a better DLC than a large knitting ball...

    Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

    This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

I don't know if the price is too high or if it's ok.  There are a lot of buildings and they all have functionality.

I think individual buildings should be the sort of thing that are very cheap individually, definitely under a dollar each.

I feel like 7.99 might be a better price.

I think they are putting this out now because they need more money to pay for the extra servers they had to put in place

I actually bought the German, French, and British DLC so far.  The only thing I think was worth it was the British set because of the double decker bus truly having increased passenger capacity.  Everything else seems like just show.

I agree with other posts, maybe they need more money because maintaining servers is expensive!

Servers are not nearly as expensive as people think.

And EA won't be getting any more money from me until I see modding and increased city size.

And if EA charges for either of those things, I'm done with them.  They won't get any more of my money.

Certainly not buying anything in a game I hardly think is worth playing in its current state... still a lot to be fixed in the mechanics of how the game functions, especially how they do the service vehicals in general, the agent system simply ain't working for those atm.

Plus, anyone else know why it says (NA) behind the title, exclusive to North American region? In that case, yet another DLC packet for North America only... just brilliantly.

Yes it is an abbrevation for North America.

Each Continent has a two letter abbrevation:

    • North America = NA
    • South America = SA
    • Europe = EU
    • Oceania = OC (includes Austraila)
    • Africa = AF
    • Asia = AS
    • Antarctica = AN

I don't mind buying expansion packs but i just don't go for these micro payments....

I can't believe one or two of you would pay a $ for a single building....

Micro purchases are not even micro anymore....

one example... off topic but proves a point.. on candy crush saga there is a special feature you can buy costing £28 WTF

I have this vision of the execs at Maxis and EA getting together each morning and having a discussion about what they can do next to alienate and annoy their customers.

"Well, we've forced Origin on them, made the cities too small, forced online DRM, made it multiplayer for no good reason, and with a broken interaction, too few servers on launch, given them a broken AI, turned it into a cynical marketing tool, still not turned on all the features, what else can we do? Oh wait, let's charge them even more for something before we fix the rest. After that, lets turn off a few servers because the initial playing rush has subsided so they lose their cities randomly again. Then charge for some new regions, ban anyone who mods it, and finally turn the servers off. It's foolproof, they'll be queuing up to buy the next version and we can do it all again."

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. My money remains in my wallet.

What is the point of the DLC ? How do I fit this in my city plot ? I'am having problems to have 3+ casinos w/o square road layout.

Did you guys even play this game ?

If its going about price, 10$ ?

    Hahahahahahahahahahaha

Probably whole Maxis coders and graphics was involved in this long term project.

    Hahahahahahahahahahaha

    This is more than fail.

I have payed EA games enough already for DLC stuff in Battlefield Play4Free and Battlefield Heroes. They will not see a penny more from me. I am not that stupid to buy this rip off. This is just criminal they just ask that price. For 2 euro I would maybe do it, if I could, but my Paypal is death and I do not live in America, but for any penny more there must be at least a mega-map size.

I would consider buying it if it was £1 or so, but $9.99 would translate to £9.99 in the UK and not around the £6-£7 price mark when taking into consideration exchange rates.

If it goes for $9.99 then I'll pass.. spend much enough for the base game and until they give us larger city size then it doesn't worth that much because it will take up to much space, or at least in my mind  and in my city it is..

Honestly, it looks pretty neat, I would have fun building a city devoted to a theme park (with its size it would have to be pretty much).  The price is a tad too steep though, but this was an accidentally leaked DLC, we cant know for sure the price is correct.  I do not mind DLC, so long as the price is kept reasonable.

I'd EASILY pay $5 for this.  $10?...I'll likely wait for a sale.

...and it begins. The game can't even function on its own yet without weekly patches to fix all the bugs and they're already starting to push the DLC. I understand they probably have different staff dedicated to DLC versus fixing the game, I'm not criticizing them for that, it's standard business practice. It's just a little too soon to be pushing out something with this much poor goodwill surrounding that company right now.

I'm not saying I'm opposed to expansion packs or DLC, I've bought tons of them for The Sims 1, 2, 3, the GTA 4 Episode packs, Tropico 1, 3, 4, Rollercoaster Tycoon, lots and lots of Expansion Packs under my belt. The difference is, they were adequately priced and all contained a lot of content and new game features. $10 for the ability to plop an amusement park? I don't care if its expandable like the parks or universities, it's one freaking building.

I agree what someone above me said about micro-transactions, micro means $1 or $2 here or there. Not $10 for every single new building they release.

Sorry, didn't mean to rant, and I usually don't on this site, but I got progressively angrier the more I typed. Need to go cool off...
