  1. SimCity Update 5 + Mac Delay

You are right on that! I know this may upset some people with MAC waiting for this game... Trust us PC users... the wait will be worth it. You do not want to go through what we have the past 3 months. I bet between all the servers I have already built over 100 city tiles... easily. I will say, it is MUCH better now. I can pretty much have fingertip control of everything if I plan my roads/mass transit correctly.
  2. Yes, that is a tremendous amount of jobs that is most definitely affecting your trade numbers. Try zoning more low-wealth buildings. I bet most of those jobs are low-wealth considering the factories/specializations you have chosen. If you have a great works site, try building an arcology. That should most definitely help.
  3. no worries dude, most have. Contrary to VanGioRobNelli's view that the many people who feel burned by EA, not just once, but twice or more, and may have a legitimate distrust toward a game company that was actually voted worst company of the year, not once, but twice in a row, are just "hating trolls" with no legitimate complaints, we have moved on. but your a member of simtroplis or you wouldn't care about the sc game to some extent am I right or wrong? I don't speak for north country dude when I say this, but many members have long since moved past from the SimCity series altogether and continue to be active on Simtropolis because they have friends here and like to participate in the off-topic discussions we have. Just because someone is a member of ST doesn't mean they have to care about SC4 or SC'13. Also, caring about the new SimCity doesn't mean liking or supporting it. I've cared about the game since Maxis announced it last year, and many other members did too. Some had been waiting for nine years for "SimCity 5" and expected a true successor to SC4. But now that SC'13 is out and people have been able to experience it, many are unsatisfied with it, to say the least. Some may still care about it, but others don't. Being a member does not determine whether that. Well said. For those of us who DO like SC13 and what Maxis/EA has done with the relaunch... we are just tired of seeing the same comments in EVERY thread within the SC5 General Discussion forum. Someone always has to make a comment which tends to throw the topic off most of the time. I understand all of your frustrations, but it was not in EA/Maxis's vision to accommodate all requests from past fans. Should they have listened more? Most definitely... even I can admit that. But I cannot blame them for taking a chance on a reboot of a 9 year old game... Yes it has overall "failed" as a launch, but... PLENTY of people are still playing and will continue to play for years to come. SC5 is not going anywhere. Trust me on that.
  4. Zoning tool bug.

This is frustrating. The only work around I know is the same thing you do. I do not think it is a "bug", but then again, I never zone on avenues. Ever.
  5. Play time city

Which is EXACTLY why all these people hate this game. They can't just build eye-pleasing cities anymore... it is more about MANAGING your creations, not build build build... you have SC4 to do that. This is exactly why I love this game. As to the OP's comments, I understand your frustrations. I have made over 50 cities... usually delete my region because I don't like it or I learn a new way to build something. Since 4.0, I have played only one region (the new one) and it has been extremely gratifying working through the challenges of figuring out the best traffic patterns. Stick with it! If you need help with a particular issue you run in to, don't be afraid to ask!
  6. The world would be a much better place if more people thought like this. Too bad we live in a society of instant gratification...
  7. How many open jobs do you have? Can you take a picture of your data screen that lists the jobs/students numbers?
  8. Thank you xoxide. Good thread... Anyways, here is what I would like to see tweaked/added: One-way streets Subways A legitimate bridge/overpass/underpass tool- as well as update giving us more freedom of how to connect roads together... especially a bridge already made............. More building diversity for the zones... can the $ buildings actually look like $ buildings please? I want SLUMS City tile size could be bigger.... except they are just fine the way they are. Now, building ploppables outside the box (without modding) would be AWESOME. I think that would keep them from having to make the city tiles bigger.... You can build everything outside the city tiles EXCEPT RCI. Then, instead of boxed cities... it could look like a real region. If only cities had grass fields in between.
  9. Trying to understand time and money in SC

I know what you mean! Also, does changing the simulation speed throw that off? Sometimes I feel that my days do not line up with the months either. I notice it most when I am hoarding exports up to hit a trade goal by releasing the shipments at 12:01 AM. I'll see if I can experiment some and try to figure this out for us. It would be very helpful!
  10. School unemployment

tnobles... you are the man. I have been looking for someone to create this or post something along the lines of job wealthing. This helps so much. Did you create that?
  11. A beautiful city

Interesting, off topic but... Why do all my cities not require recycling? Even with cities of 200k+ my recycling is always at "0/0 Collected" Its like my cities do not need recycling?
  12. Trying to understand time and money in SC

I think the OP is looking for cut and dry numbers. For example.. if I build 3 electronics factories, I know it will cost $XXXX per hour but it will ship guaranteed $XXXXX for a profit... subtract the expenses from the total export profit and you have your profit... for that day. This game is not that simple. There is not guarantee your items will ship unless you have designed your traffic system well or kept your population low.
  13. Trying to understand time and money in SC

This would be quite difficult for cities with specializations. Especially in the later years of higher populations. How can you know how much trade is going in and out... It fluctuates daily (at least in my cities). I never have two days with the same profit from trading. As long as you are making a profit, even if your hourly expenses are way in the red.. what does it really matter? All the numbers are fudged "somewhat proportionally" (I use this statement loosely).
  14. Show Us Your Skylines

Holy cow! Very nice looking cities. How did you get the overpasses? Shift clicking?
  15. All Trade Trucks are Gone!

#1- I have never experienced the "no trucks" on any trading in any region... Trade works fine and seems to be for the majority of people #2- You do not need to recycle... Garbage works fine if you have a good road system. Mine work fine fully upgraded with 250k+ populations. #3- I have never lost a money gift. Try placing the town hall on a road easily accessible from the main entrance of the grid. #4- Now this... You might be on to something. I think tourism really depends on the right balance of activities between the wealth classes. Also, proper lodging.. and once again... the art to this game really... A FLUID ROAD DESIGN mixed with a transportation hub. I have over 250 hours played. Proof of all of this beyond my own experiences? Look at the leaderboards... Tourism cities making 15 million plus... And let's not even get started on the electronics cities. Two questions. What gamespeed do you play on? Can you post a picture of your "no trucks" trading industry?
