Really great video the first time I listened to it. Didn't think nature would sound that amazing.

Interesting links.  A treatment for Parkinson's would be a great boon to many.

IT'S OFFICIAL: The topic I started yesterday was just a joke.  The panorama lanscape is real, but the Sphinx is not. I made the Sphinx in Sketchup, saved screenshot, and pasted it to the image. I fooled you all!

I got the idea while browsing the internet and coming upon an article that describes the humanoid aliens, ancient statues, and martian rats, supposedly seen in Curiosity Mars images. Since they can create a hoax, why can't I? I made this image in like, 5 minutes. I was planning on having some fun reading the comments, and attracting loyal followers and converts to my noble cause. :P  Unfortunately, the topic was locked. Too bad. It would have been much more amusing.

Be sure to check out the slide show - some of the images of the comet are spectacular.

Well, the ESA is going to try to ride the comet around the sun and return some images of the whole event.  Good luck to them.

Did any see the article about 3D printing the moon habitat?  While Mars isn't covered with a moon-like regolith, maybe the sands of Mars could be used in a similar way.  Be nice if the first colonists could find some buildings waiting for them.

If someone is interested: ESA (European Space Agency) has launched some kind of TV-channel on the net with some live broadcasting from the mission control

in Darmstadt and from Rosetta:

http://www.esa.int/esatv/Television

Rosetta landed on the comet 67P/Tschurjumow-Gerassimenko at a distance from earth three times of the distance of the sun, 500 million kilometers away.

To compare: Moon is 384 000 km away.

No doubt, this is a new big step in space flight.

EDIT:

Canadian Space Agency is a member of the ESA and was involved in this project.

EDIT2:

Well, with a lack of 28 minutes till the data from Rosetta arrives - I don't know if the word "live" is still right. (Imagine to watch a NBA broadcast with a lack of 28 minutes ... )

Quote from Wikipedia:

The Big Bounce is a hypothetical scientific model of the formation of the known universe. It is implied by the cyclic model or oscillatory universe interpretation of the Big Bang where the first cosmological event was the result of the collapse of a previous universe.[1]

The problem with this theory is that it implies that our universe is the result of the collapse of a previous universe, and that our universe is destined to someday also give birth to a "new" universe. This theory is based on the western linear model of time, which is wrong. You assume that there is a never ending, infinite cycle of different universes, both before and after our original universe. They make it too comlicated. :boggle:

Wouldn't it be better if there was a single universe, our universe? According to my theory, time is a circle that closes in on itself. When you go around the circle of time, you return to your original point where you started. This is a version of the Big Crunch theory.

big-crunch-theory-big-bounce.jpg

My theory is basically the same, instead of a never ending cycle of different parent universes, it is our own universe that gives birth to itself, dies, and is reborn like a phoenix. I invented this theory, in a dream. I saw the universe growing, and then dying, and the exact same events happening over and over again. Look at the image, I made to illustrate this. The cosmic clock of our universe.

vopxfo.jpg

1. The begining and the end.

2. First atoms are created.

3. First stars are created.

4. First aliens civilization to achieve spaceflight.

5. The Earth is created.

6. Humans/Terrans begin to colonise the solar system.

7. Milky Way and Andromeda Galaxy collides.

8. The universe is superheated and the big crunch begins.

And then again, it keeps on going, the exact same events happen. You could say that this is all fate. In this case, time is an illusion as it curves in on itself. You can think that the next, and previous universe are absolutely identical to our current universe, even in the smallest details. Or you could think that there is only one universe, either way is true.

Then you think, if it is all a matter of fate, then how come we make choices? That is where the multiverse theory comes in.

level-ii-multiverse.jpg

Basically, every time you make a decision, big or small one, a new "pathway", a whole another universe or another dimension is created. There exist two universes for every decision. One in which you wear a red shirt today, and if you wear a white shirt today. We can't see these alternative universes. They are outside of our dimension. All these alternative universes repeat itself over and over again. So there is both fate and free will. Some alternative universes are only minimally different, but others are so different, that you may not exist in them, or atoms never even formed. Anythign is possible.

multiverse-theory.jpg

This also allowes for time travel. If you travel in time, you are actually going to another one of these, cyclic, repeating alternative universes. If you go and assasinate Napoleon, it changes history for that universe only, not your own where you came from. So all paradoxes are removed too.

I can't buy the multiverse theory. If a new universe is created out of every decision I make with me alone there are countless new universes. Now there are what around 7 billion peeps on the earth with millions of decisions being made every second? Then new universes are created from the new universes created from this one. And does it stop with just humans? A dog decided to hike it's leg on a tree instead of a bush, bam new universe!!!! There would be infinity amount of universes being made every second. Finally how bout life in other planets, every decision there creates new universes as well? Sorry but not buying it!!!!!!!

In the 70s, they said that we would have robots that do our chores.

672111.jpg

How about robots that clean our carpets? And they would draw a robot using a vacum cleaner.

robot_housecleaner.jpg

The problem with this is that they were going in the worng direction. Here, it is depicted that robots would replace humans. That viewpoint is worng. Today we have a small robots that are the vacum cleaners. In other words, the vacum cleaner becomes a robot. It cleans the floor by itself. Robots do not replace humans, they replace the appliances.

lg-vr5901kl-robotic-vacuum-cleaner.jpg

And how about robots that wash our dishes?

jetsons-washer-robot.jpeg

The same concept is applied here. Today, we have a dishwasher. I prefer to wash dishes by hand, because the modern dishwasher is deficient. It doesn't live up to it's goals. But in the future, there will be a kind of robotic dishwasher, where you put the dishes in, and it uses cleaning bruches to wash the dishes!

One tiny, wittle thing you forgot to mention, if you do travel through time to the past, you can never get back to where you originally came from.  You're stuck in that universe, unless of course you time travel again and end up in in another universe, kinda like that dumb tv series Sliders.

Cosmology is only a meta-science at best.  There is no way to use scientific methods to ascertain the truth of any claims.  To be verifiable facts have to be able to be reproduced.  With cosmic events, nobody can live so long.

It makes a lot of sense if you know what it means, but obviously you don't have that great of a grasp on the English language and all of it's phrases and what they mean.  A bit more studying on that might help you. ;)

Well, it would be nice to get something tangible from all that whirling around.  Maybe they can make the parts for the head of the space elevator so it won't be blown up on the pad a couple of times.  It would probably be best to unreel the cable from orbit, anyway.

Did you know since 2005 – with spending a great amount of money (= taxes we paid) and with remarkable success – they simulate in Switzerland the human brain on computers?

the project is called the Blue Brain.

Did you know they invented already cells that can interact with microchips?

Did you know since 2012 mankind is able to produce brain cells in laboratory?

Can you imagine, what would happen, if you put these techniques together?
