Interesting game, too bad my netbook can't handle this one... It's not my type of game too, if that was more modern, I will be happier. :D

Banished looks perfect! *---------------------*

I have to buy it!

If the game looks really good Simtropolis could open a forum for it too. Banished Cjs would be awesome!

I purchased it to support the creator, unfortunately my ancient laptop is struggling with it.  I have no sound & it's very jerky, looks like a new puter is on the cards finally!

It's one thing to watch youtube videos, but actually seeing this on my monitor in full screen is just beautiful. Started going through the tutorials so far. Very nicely done! I like the little details like the fact you can see current weather in the overall stats window.

My first opening screen

BTW, that water is actually moving...not static. And the camera is swaying slightly in this opening launch screen. In game the ambient sound of the water gets louder as you move the camera closer to the river and the music is great with this. Basically the sound engineering is well done. I like the interface too. I just have to play some more to remember where to click to get certain things done. Details like this says a lot.

haha I love how the banishers or whatever you'd call the population gather like crazy on the cemetary even tho there's a great tavern in town.

anyways quite some hrs into the game I really really hope they come up with new content really fast.

totally loving it, but once you got your supply chain up and running along with the city's growth, there really isn't much to do except enjoying the good graphics.

that, and I deeeeeespeerately miss eyecandy aka decorative stuff. some planters, some statues, maybe a parkish thing...

EDIT: and I wanna have control over stockpiling... like with many other such games where you can decide which good goes to which stock

Ye, I hope they add some deco stuff. After you get every building\farm type you are either forced to keep your city growing or watch them progress year after year. The disasters are the only thing that keep the game worth playing after the full chain.

Any feedback on the game for those who have already bought and played it? I'm not sure if I should get it or not. It is cheap (to me), but I don't know if the overall gameplay is good or not. Can anyone tell me?

I've looked at previous posts and have seen good signs, but I just want an overall confirmation :)

If you enjoy simcity and the anno series than this game will be awesome for you. There is no military content so the game is 100% about building up and maintaining a city.

Still, after 3-4 hours you will find you've seen 80% of the content of the game.

also there are a bunch of achievements too to get ;)

I'm very glad I've spend my money on this game.

Oh man, oh man, I want this game! I just hope my computer will be able to run it. My specs meet the minimum requirements, but my CPU falls below the recommended requirements.

Some people forget that this game is not about just graphics and numbers, it's about helping these people survive in the wilderness. The difference I see so far from SimCity as a city builder is that with SimCity, you are paying more attention to sliders, buildings and infrastructure and the sims react to that. With this game, we assign workers and professions as well as buildings and infrastructure.  As for the content, remember there is a mod kit coming out. Don't think you can just set sliders to some magic setting, put the speed on x10 and wiz to huge populations. This is a true dynamic strategy situation where you have to watch, observe and pay attention to what's going on. I think conditions on the map shift constantly depending on many factors. This game is not for people with no patience. To be honest, some people who are putting up reviews and play videos are not conveying the right message on how to play the game, so be careful when listening to opinions of game experiences. Better to just get it and judge for yourself.

This is my second Banished Village. The first one failed because a famine killed the younger generations and after some time i had only old people remain --> village died off. :(
I have no problems running the game on max settings. The graphics were not the best but still better than this 2013 sim cityish game. Pretty good for a game with only one developer.  The game reminds me of the anno series, but it's much more harder to balance the economic system.  After an all-night (and all day) session ;) you've seen pretty much everything of the game with the exception that you don't have every farm animal and plant. In happy anticipation i hope that we'll see more contend from the developer and maybe some custom content. Playing Banished is a lot of fun :)

Spring 33: ca 100 citizens.

Spring 51: 213 citizens.

One thing that i think is a bit annoying is that i have to switch every spring and autumn most of the villages labor between the farms and the other workspace.

Are you playing on hard settings or? I started my first game on hard and died like 15 mins later xd

Anyhow, the game isn't using too much of your CPU and the graphics can be adjusted to fit your setup.

Game also runs on the latest DirectX driver but can be set to older versions without editing any files.

Going to start over again with normal settings and disasters on.

They might create a new forum for banished? If it catches more people?

Sim City have many fan sites. I remember back in 2003 there were numerous sites. Can't say how many but there are 3 obvious ones I can think of right now not including the Japanese and other fan sites abroad. I think Banished should be a welcome community to have a presence here. We're talking about the kings of city builders. But of course Dirk has the final say. I think buzz with Banished will really go through the roof once those modding tools kick in. But I wonder if Banished being on this site would dilute the modding community for SC4. Think about it....SC4 NEVER had company when it comes to a city builder. So far before Banished, every city builder that came along failed at reaching near SC4 status. So this is gonna be interesting. But one good thing is that Banished has a different style of play so I don't really see any SC4 abandonment. We simply have 2 good choices now for the first time in a decade.

This game could be named patience.    Every NPC in the game is a distinct individual with a name and job.  They have kids and they get old and die.  Don't pay attention for instance, and your teacher could die and cause the school to close.  It did it to me.  You micromanage this game.  Use pause if you walk away.  It doesn't forgive inattention.

It is really good & a good challenge on hard. With me in charge anyway. Poor dears are probably going to starve to death as we are running out of food.

Funny how one man made this addictive game, whilst a multi million pound organisation with a cast of thousands made a monstrosity like Sim City 2013. For once inventiveness defeats greed.

I've found a bug which makes my inhabs run around the map (for no reason) get cold, get hungry and they die like 10metres before they can eat :O

This game is epic!

In my first city I had over 700 citizens and suddenly lack of tools caused famine that lasted for 5 years... it left me with 200 people... ;p

in my current town I'm approaching 1000 and they just keep on breeding.

I decline all nomads just to have a slight chance to keep my population under control.

another problem with a town this big is performance. fps really suffers from so many inhabitants

haha very funny thing happened (too bad I effed up on screenshots): I ignored nomads for too long and then they decided to leave, some 99 nomads or so, and there was this epic chain of ppl all walking the same path to the edge of the map to disappear. at first I was like what the... but then I realized what happened.

I'll try to get this happen again to take a working screenshot lol
