Is it just me but do the cities look closer than before.

Seriously the cities are almost a stone throw away in that last picture compared to the other region shot.

I don't think it look cartoonist in fact looks to be the best Simcity yet. I watched I believe every video I could find on youtube and I am excited for this game, Not too happy about online play. They did say you can make a region private. Does anyone know if this can be set at the start of a new region?

What seems nice is no more laying of pipes. I also I like how you can expand fire, police stations along with hospitals and power plants.

Well ... anyone out there have a drawing ruler ?

Or there are some things wrong with this picture or my monitor is drunk !

The purpose... unless someone teach to sims how ignore Newton's Law (two bodies can not occupy the same place at the same time) already the second intersection will be a big source of disasters!

But even with all this silly ..this will never be the reality of the game

I did not see it in any demo-play or anything like that picture, actually not even the design of camera totally free yet been demonstrated ...so believed whoever you want!

Man, those highways look like crap. Can't travel directly from one coastal city to the other.. have to take the LONG way around. The region is the very reason why i will wait till Simcity comes out on steam and when it is 75% off. Pathetic game. the cities looks tiny. Smaller than medium sized SC4 cities.

Then your guestimate is clearly off, they're already known to be the same size as the medium cities.

You don't travel on the roads between cities, why do you care if they haven't bulldozed a road between them?

I believe the cities are 48x48m smaller than SimCity 4 medium city tiles. The screenshots look OK but more intercity roads would be good.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

Butter it up all you like, but I clearly see the square boundaries that make up those city limits. With the other picture published earlier ...all I see is a big fat unnatural avenue splitting up a downtown area. Downtown is supposed to be congested, not 5 lanes of roads!!! And those screens with people…since when do hundreds of people crowd sidewalks like that? Only time I’ve seen that is when leaving Fenway park in Boston but even then people sprawl out on to the roads. What cities do EA get their ideas or inspiration from...?

That regional freeway is horrible. Why is there no direct link between the city in the center to its neighbouring city?! A single freeway exit means that your main road to the freeway is 24/7 congested...

I do hope that they would come up with more imaginative signage for the factories by release.

Not to mention that toning down the plastic shiny would not be a bad idea. Great models, very neat texturing visible, but particularly for industrial architecture and objects this stands out too much.

Why can't they just allow the cities to be edge to edge - the gap is not adding any thing to the game =/

"Low Tech Factory"? "Industrial Facility"? I wonder what Kindergartener suggested these names to Maxis. I bet that they read too much Family Circus.

Where is my Kane's Tiberium Processing Facility (Command & Conquer is not as good anymore ever since EA brought Westwood Studios)? I also want the ability to name every industrial plant (and design their logos) in the city, just like with billboards in some expansion pack for RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, without having to resort to modding.

Ok, thanks for making me grin there :P Serious though, renaming functionality should be in I agree, I doubt it is though.

We might get functionality though like "Tweet > user X has just built a Low Tech Factory - would you like to know more?" :P Sad as it is, I'm close to a point of expecting that sort of stuff.

The change in sky color, depending on the time of day, looks really nice in these shots (esp. the sunrise/sunset). And the night scene looks better than in SC4, where I'd turned off the switching between day/night (b/c viewing the city at night limited my visibility so much).

Think there will be an option to turn off the horizon visibility?

There's an option to set the depth of field to various levels.

Ok, that is actually nice to hear. I can think of some pesky ultrabook users who will appreciate that :P

In some of the pictures the way the buildings are spaced out is really realistic but the industry / factory area is a bit too ...i don't know the word but it don't look right for an industrial area.

Any one else get what i mean ?

Yes, that could be due to development status of the zone though. It does not look anything like any type of industrial zone in the countries around here for example, but considering other screenshots we have seen different states of development over time do appear to be part of SC2013 as well. Also, things like type of map could be at play (for example, rural or urban), or there could be other variables that the user can set which affect the style and density of an area.

Hrm, also a wierd distance between the housings, could be related to zone density? The shot with the skyscrapers had a lot less distance between them I think?

Those pictures are pretty cool! I am glad to see semi-generic looking apartments (though I would appreciate it if there were more colors of them since red-orange and tan are fine colors but having the same color everywhere can be visually annoying). I wish the signage of the factories was a little more unique but that is rather minor.
