And how are you going to substantiate that! I have already stated a couple of times that Statistics Canada that 65-75% of violent crimes go unreported, and that is still an unsubstantiated number. Women are the higher end, but still, if men generally don't get raped, why is StatsCans number for men still up at 65%? For women that number is higher because it is usually by an intimate partner, but that is a difference of 10% Yes, I have posted stats from Canada. The stats from the UK are no different, except that they have a higher conviction all violent crimes. The problem with rape is a problem of child abuse. Women who are abused as children are more like to be raped, girls who are sexually assaulted are at an even greater number. Most rapists are men who have been physically or sexually abused as boys. While I did bring up the issue of risk aversion, this will, unfortunately, not work on people who have been abused as children. They will actively seek out these people. Erin Pizzy, who open up the first women's shelter says that over 60 women of the first 100 were as violent or more violent then the men they were escaping. And when they would leave, they would go to another violent male.
  2. Can You Pass A U.S. Citizenship Test?

43/50. Should have been 44/50, but missed clicked "WHAT IS ONE PROMISE YOU MAKE WHEN YOU BECOME A UNITED STATES CITIZEN?" I clicked "Not defend the constitution and laws of the United States." lol
  3. What is your MBTI Personality?

As introversion is differentiation, as I go beyond MBTI to the source which is Carl Jung, it should not be surprising to find people of similar differentiation in the on-line world. As for myself, I am an INTP.

Sounds like you missed half of what I said. There are a lot of people who are abused that is not sexual assault, that are worsened by society. There is risk aversion for many things, but you don't want it for rape? This is why I think Camille Paglia is one of the only palatable feminists, but, I guess she is a dissident. But this is true for all violent crimes. A lot of people will not report a crime. Again, Statistics Canada says for all violent crimes the the amount of unreported crimes is 60-75%. Too bad this doesn't exist for other things.

Shaming and guilting is not the result of rape culture (which originated from prison rape - which IS pervasive and normalized). Shame and guilt can be projected onto the victim from the offender. The most common form is that the victim can place the blame on their self. This is the result of them feeling helpless or or powerless. Psychologically speaking this is common in any trauma, even such as losing a loved one. Studies in trauma show that shame and guilt are common in all forms. This can, of course, be increased if it is reinforced by others, but this is not something that is special to rape victims. The most common forms of mental illness is the result of various forms of trauma, and as a whole there is a stigma towards mental illness.

I am going to ignore all the venomous diatribe, because it is ironic, and focus on what you state as "true". The wage gap is an aggregate number of all jobs. The only way to solve that problem is to deal with the children. 12% stay at home fathers. This could be greater? Yes, but hopefully not because of the economic reality called the "he-cession". Unmarried women, with no kids make more then men, and this has been true since the seventies. The economist Thomas Sewel in the 70s said the real difference is between mothers (the glass ceiling) and everyone else. One quarter of the wage gap is simply from full time working men working more than full time working women, or working later in life. Current stats have unmarried women in certain cities like Atlanta making 20% more than males. Again this is just breaking up the aggregate numbers.
  7. What? There are a lot of lazy responses in this thread.
  8. My significant other has gone through some serious abuse as a child. So I have been an active part of her treatment. All the people she has worked with do not think it is a hoax. If it was, they would not have Cognitive Behaviour Therapy or Dialectical Behaviour therapy to help increase the activity of the effected regions of the brain.
  9. This is true. It is not about the understanding of what they are doing, it is moral impairment. The first link below has two forms of anti-social behaviour. One is acquired sociopathy which results from accidental damage to the brain, and this one does no show moral impairment, but has all other impairment found in the other form. The developmental sociopathy does show moral impairment. Since these are twelve year olds, I would assume they have the later, but I would also guess the former is a rare circumstance. Àctually it means exactly that. Their brains aren't developed, therefor they cannot reason or think logically like an adult. The fact that they do know a lot of facts is completely irrelevant. Again, you are arguing against science. What should we do with adult criminals? Their brains are not fully developed either. Their amygdalas are smaller, up to 20%. Same with those who had experiences severe child neglect. Of course, here in Canada, I have some remarks from judges in response to the Harper government wanting to build super prisons, ala USA, or the pushing for harsher sentences, and they say prisons and longer sentences are not the answer. Most criminals have had [not good] lives and more things have to be done to heal their behaviour (if that is even possible, as it require self-motivation to do so) and to prevent such behaviour from happening. Brain development of criminals: http://scan.oxfordjournals.org/content/1/3/203.full Brain development of maltreated children: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3307045/ EDIT: let's watch our language, please. -ST Moderator Team
  10. And yet people who have had neglected childhoods to more severe traumatic ones do have more undeveloped hippocampuses and amygdala. If the one has suicidal thoughts and the other disassociates, than this is an issue with these parts of the brain.
  11. It is not even about being taught right and wrong. Neglectful parents still 'teach' their kids stuff. It is things like the time spent with babies and toddlers, eye contact, physical contact, earning trust that help develop brains. This doesn't even include more severe forms of negligence.
  12. According to one report Morgan has shown signs of instability at a young age such as suicidal thoughts in 4th grade. Anissa has shown signs of disassociation. I will once again bring up the issue of the parents. I think negligence is a factor here. Is the neglect of leaving them to go anywhere online? I highly doubt it. The neglect starts earlier than that, and the first 5 years are the important years. While it is too early to ascertain what disorder they may have. However, the need to reach out to an imaginary creation like Slenderman, disassociation, depression, etc. all point to neglect. It is not like people "choose" to criminal acts. Parental maltreatment more than double the likelihood of criminal activity. Sexual abuse increases it, and experiencing multiple forms of abuse continue to increase the likelihood of criminal behavior. I agree that they should not be tried as adult because their brains are clearly not as developed as a normal 12 year old. I am not saying they have a brain of a 9 year old, or such, but their brains are that of neglected children. However, this is the case for most criminals, including white collar crime. It is hard to judge. I saw on Richard Dawkins facebook page that those who are tried as young offenders and go to juvi, most likely grow up to be adult offenders and go to jail.
  13. Official Simtropolis Weather Channel

Possibly tornado near Tottenham, Ontario, Between Orangeville and New Market, south of New Tecumseth (aka Alliston). Weather network has a video. Could just be a funnel cloud, unsure if it touched down or not. To the north, Barrie had damaging winds.
  14. Hopefully most of the buildings that need to be constructed to replace the old ones will be more energy efficient. Architects and Engineers have been trying to push this, but people with the money just won't budge. People like to point out transportation, but building emissions take up the other half.
  15. 2014 Summer Solstice

It has been raining almost non stop here in London with two periods of really heavy rain. Thunder has been minor. Been a dark and wet the past two days. But a great weekend to start off summer, with a family reunion on Sunday.
