it looks nice bixel, very nice.

@ All, I totally agree that we need to change this thread back to its original purpose: a showcase. We do need another thread for the tech stuff. A special board would be nice too. But I'm not sure yet if it's needed.

Oh my godnessake, a page flies per day, just like the earth turns around a day! Well, perhaps in the new board we can divide Hong Kong BATs and Asian BATs, but if pages are still flying seriously, we may divide them into RCI categories, or divide into New Territories, Kowloon and Hong Kong Island Districts, just depends on which part of Hong Kong does the buildings located at. Or just like the NAM, divide into disscusion board, request board and progress board. ( But this kind of division is not recommended, as people always misunderstand the concept of the categories )

BTW, the Sorrento is great and I don't mind it comes into a clumsy size, as long as it is beautiful and it won't split to grow easily and become Maxis default buildings. You know what I mean, right? Nahhh.... How about the Chinese characters on the glass wall?

Hi guys, I just joined the forums and I'm a somewhat on-and-off Simcity player, but I just came across this project and I'm amazed! I'd love to install these into my Simcity 4 but I don't have Rush Hour. Has anyone done the buildings such as Hong Kong Park View and Times Square yet?

@ timmy: Welcome to Simtropolis in general and to our little project in particular! 4.gif It's nice to hear that you like all that HK/Asia stuff. However, you will need Rush Hour or SC4 Deluxe in order to enjoy any serious custom content. And I guarantee you: Once you have it and start digging into all the stuff here at ST, you will be converted from an on-and-off player to a SimCity addict! SC4 without Rush Hour isn't really SimCity - you're missing the best 75% of the game! Get RH or Deluxe, you won't regret it!

Both buildings you mention haven't been done yet (at least not to my knowledge), and I fear our valiant BATters here have projects up to their ears so that even if they want to start BATting them, it might take quite a while.

@ SimFox: Well, we can think of something the HKABT sub-forum should look like and present the idea and concept to dirk. If he agrees, we're fine, if he doesn't, we can think about either starting some separate threads or moving most of our development-related stuff over to simcities and only keep a showcase here.

@ timmy2112: Welcome to Simtropolis and the HKABT Thread! I will take a look at the buildings you would like to see in SC4...

@ All: I would have had an update by now except the power keeps going out here, so I gave up BATting for the time being until the power can be more reliable and I don't need to save every 5 minutes (It takes a minute to save!)

    And about a sub-forum... who's going to ask... I nominate T Wrecks! 3.gif

EDIT: Here's an update on Shun Hing Square. I don't like the textures, but the structure itself seems ok... What do you think? Click to enlarge.

Well, guys, since I'm the moderator of this here BAT forum, I could always help out with you guys getting your own forum (so you could have your own topic showcasing your BATs and it will be more organized).  As I think it would be necessary since this thread is becoming quite large! 3.gif

I'll talk to SkiGeek about it later if you guys are interested! 43.gif

thanks Dragonanime, Do that, we appreciate it.

BTW, we also got an offer for the same thing on Onlyplace4's website. What do you guys think, should we be active on 2 sites? Personally, I prefer only 1, but you tell me, I've already signed up at simcities.com.

I say keep the development at one place, but why not maintain a showcase on two? A kind of "franchise"? Running the full thing parallel on two forums sounds like a bit too much work.

As for the question where to keep the main part, I'd say it depends on where we find conditions that allow us to keep our stuff halfways tidy and organized.

That said, I appreciate your offer very much, DragonAnime! 4.gif As far as I'm concerned, go ahead and ask SkiGeek.

If we should get a sub-forum, here's a little list of ideas for threads:

    - HKABT FAQ (Team presentation, 'How to Install' for Dummies ( 3.gif ), troubleshooting) (STICKY)

    - Showcase (Only finished BATs as available on the STEX) (STICKY)

    - Updates / Bugfixes (STICKY)

    - Hong Kong residential complexes by bixel

    - Hong Kong BATs by paulvmontfort

    - Pacific Place (HK) (and similar threads for unique, big BAT projects)

    - Simfox's BATs

    - Skyfire2275's Asia BATs

    - Typical Asian buildings by 2ch.net simplayer

    - Show us how you use HKABT content!

    - Tech Talk

    - Small Talk: General Asian architecture discussion & photos

As I said, it's just a general idea. This way, it would be easy to keep track of the respective projects and store all additional stuff in places where it doesn't get on some other peoples' nerves, because I'm pretty sure this very organizational discussion and the tech talk is doing exactly that for the time being. 3.gif However, I feel it's necessary to get these things out of the way.

T Wrecks, that is a great idea! I'm sure we could get some sub forums as well.. it would keep it very organized, lol. And I like the idea of the "How you use HK BAT stuff", too! I've just asked Ski and she's going to run it past Dirk and then after I get an answer I'll let you guys know! 4.gif

That is a LOT of forums there T...maybe we can narrow it down to 4 subforums at the most?

    --The HK Theatre, a showcase

    --The Asian Theatre, a showcase

    --HKABT usesage

    --Modding and debugging

I agree with bixel, as we do not need to divide the thread into too many categories, which will results in difficulties in browsing...

@ bixel: Huh? I was talking about ONE sub-forum (HK/Asia BAT Team Room or whatever we'd like to call it), and then several threads inside this forum.

I mean, look at the NDEX and BSC sub-forums, they also have many threads - and why not? What's the point in getting a sub-forum if we then restrict ourselves to three or four "mega-threads"? Then it will take six months, and each of these threads will look like this one is looking now.

The nice thing about having a sub-forum is that we can keep stuff separate and still under one roof, without the danger of having it pushed back by tons of other, non-related custom content threads. Besides, a sub-forum with only three threads inside would look utterly ridiculous.

Of course it would be exaggerated to open one thread for every new building, but if we could keep the discussion about your HK residential mega-projects separate from e.g. problems or questions related to your MTR hub, why not do so by putting both into separate threads? I mean, who finds a question e.g. about a multi-purpose mass-transit station on page 26 of a BAT showcase that's dominated by residential estates on 49 of its 50 pages?

I'm just suggesting and proposing things here, of course, and it's not my intention to give instructions, let alone orders (that would be quite ridiculous indeed).

Are there any plans to do any low/mid-rise buildings as well?

Thanks fukuda, I see the problem, but I had no idea what was causing it. It was the first high quality preview I did for a while... it was shorter last time so there was no problem. Now, what do I do with this/How do I use it? Thanks. 3.gif

    @ jacquilina: Thanks!

@ tSlater: I'm not planning on doing any, but I can't speak for everyone! 3.gif

I fully agree! This project has evolved long enough with awesome BATs already, it deserves its own sub-forum.

Wow, great support from some very well known members. 3.gif

Anyways, I have an update on Shun Hing Square. I changed the glass texture to blue (bixel might recognize it as one he made for Langham Place that I didn't use... because I can;t make nice textures worth beans... see previous update). In the pictures I have it is either light blue on a sunny day or greenish blue on cloudy days. I figured since dmscopio's version is greenish, I would go for a bluish texture to try and make the greatest difference between the two for the sake of variety on the STEX. 3.gif

I tried some stuff with the cement texture, but it still doesn't look right. Too brownish/"cheap and crappy" I think. Oh well, I can fix that! I think. So. I figured out how to make glass transparent... for the entrance at the base, and I am pleased with the result. What do you think? I also adjusted the colours of the black rings on the top as the upper ones are definitely darker than the lower ones in the pics I have. I think I have it right now.

As for the nightlights, the night textures are done and now I need to add the actual lights, which there won't be very many... I hope to post a screenshot tomorrow night. The roof of the actual building seems devoid of all junk, so that is what I have done too.

I also fixed the lighting problem that was seen in the previous update, thanks fukuda!!! 35.gif

I have here, only a draft quality preview for you, but I think it is good enough to see the textures and the structure of the building... the vertical black lines (part of the lattice work) do not show up as much in the high quality previews. Which is odd anyways since all the verticals lattice pieces are identical... Any ideas?

Anyways, I need feedback, so if you have any, feel free to post it! 3.gif

I definatly think that the HK bat team needs it's own sub - forum. That would be great, since this is one of the most ctive bat teams. I really like that bat, skyfire! Turning out good.

Thanks guys; DuskTropper, IllTonsko, blahdy, and Yoman3 your support means a lot! 9.gif

Skyfire....gonna google some pics of the builind when I got some time and I will see what I can cook up for a texture...no offense but it is looking a little bland. Maybe I can help.

Also I am planning on a revamp of the Sorrento base...gonna ad/replace a classy glassy mall thingy so its much more pedestrian friendly and looks cooler. I've already been buggin HONG KONG and Jesselong for photo reference of the base...so far that foundation has been hiding from the camera's eye. soo if you got pics and been holding out...please send a link to nbixel@gmail.com
