Those bushes look a little funky. Try adding some noise to the texture -- I think it looks too smooth right now. Also, what's the story with the texture on the end of the catwalk? I assume that's just a uvw map adjustment.

Other than that, the platform looks fantastic! It'll look even better with some benches.

Great work on the station!

With the benches that you are going to add, I would assume that you would place other sidewalk props (newspaper machines, streetlights, etc.) along the side of the main building, right? Also, I agree with nofunk about the bushes being a bit too smooth.

Nofunk:  Yeah, I'm not sure about those bushes either.  I'll work on them some more.  lol, the lines are supposed to be a wood texture, but I guess it does look like a UVW issue.  I swear it's wood.  1.gif

    Jacqulina:  Thanks!

ky72x:  Thanks!  I plan on BATing in props (newspaper stands and benches) in the front of the building, and might also have some other stuff on the platforms.  I'll mostly likely re-use the newspaper machines from Brei Market & Happy Camera.

ExplodingSims:  Thanks!  Yeah, it's wall to wall.

Aleking:  Thanks!  I'm glad it will be useful.

    YoshiIsland:  lol, thanks!

I cleaned up my BAT folder, and here are some old projects that I may or may not come back to, like I did the train station.  The top one is from June 18th, the bottom one is from June 20th, and the train station was also from June 20th.

    towersjo6.jpg

The top one could be finished as a 2x2 tower.  The bottom one could be reworked into a wall to wall or something.

Here's a post I made back in June about that was about these.

    knollprev04zh3.jpg

And then there's this building which I still have the intention of finishing.

The train station will be done tonight, and tomorrow I'll do the nitelites, render, and modd, and hopefully I'll be able to do all that.

I'm sure there'll be more roof junk and other detailish whatnot but the towers look like typical C$$ for a downtown. I would definitely go for it!

So, I rendered it last weekend, but I made a mistake in one of the textures (the UVW map for the limestone on the edge of the "tower" needed to be shifted over), the limestone was too dark (didn't look good in the game), and the railings looked really really bad from the aliasing.

So I fixed the UVW map, made the limestone a little brighter and a little pinker, and followed AutoVino's tutorial on anti-aliasing.  Then I rendered the day.

    It's a 7x4 if you're making a spot for it.

Hey, you're getting your massive railway station out before mine!

Looks simply amazing. I'd like to see the back before I make a summary judgment, though. I'm sure you can understand that.

    Thanks guys!

opps, I didn't realize I never showed the back.  I have to say this isn't too big of a station though.  It would work well for a middle sized city though.

Nice benches and newspaper machines. At first, I couldn't recognize the paper machines, but after a quick check at BM & HC, it appears that you have indeed used the same ones. Looking excellent all-around!

Thats awesome Jason! You should make it work with GLR too. I like the overall back, it offers a contrast in styles. Front- Art-Deco. Back-Victorian/Art-Deco. The white texture on the back looks stretched out. Don't really see anything else wrong with it. The building is the same style as a church across the street from my school. Even the brick work vs concrete. I like it very much 4.gif

Really nice Jason. I can see this fitting into the urban sections of my region. The only thing I see that doesn't look right are the round bushes at the back. I know from experience how big a pain plants can be and unfortunately I don't think you're there yet with them. They look more like green rocks then plants right now.

That's a wonderful station, Jason! The bushes look a tad odd indeed, so if you can't make them more "fluffy", maybe you could make a tight LOD and add some Maxis props there. The building looks rather large and would fit in very well in a larger city, but for that, the platforms are a bit too short. Maybe you can extend them at least across the whole back of the building? And what about adding two more platforms? I think it would look much more appropriate that way.

On the sides inbetween the pillars you might want to put bricks to make it look cooler. This is the building across the street from school that looks similar.

It might look cooler, Idk.. Maybe just on the 2nd from the top.

For the train station, I just need to do a little work on the nitelites, and it will be done.

So, today for a project I needed to do a rendering with 3ds Max, and I used 9 because the computers in the computer lab have it.  It's a big rendering (~30x40 inches).  So I start to render it, I wait 4 hours (it is then 1:00 AM), and it crashes because it doesn't have enough memory.  Then I lower the settings, and try it again.  It is noticably faster and got farther along, but before finishing, it still crashes.  Then it was 6:00 AM.  So then I pretty much ditch some of the quality I wanted to get it rendered, because I need to get it rendered to be printed in a few hours.

But anyway, during that time, I've been BATing on the computer next to the one that's rendering.

Pardon the lighting rig problem, I just used a default one, quickly downloaded from this site.  It will be a 2x3.  The tower will be rectangular.  On each side of the tower there will be a "base" to make it wall to wall.  The building will be made of limestone.

I don't know when I'll finish it, but someday I will.

Oof! Sorry to hear about all the rendering problems. That has to be so frustrating. So I take it you didn't get any sleep before reviews?

The new building is going to be beautiful! The ornamentation at the top is great. I can't wait to see this farther along.

    Now go get some sleep!
