For some reason, I cannot get the 4lane RHW to build (I don't mean 4 lanes on one side)no matter what i do with the tool. When I drag the two parallel networks, all I get is two seperate 2 lane highways (look the same as default ANT)

Coming soon with the RHW-6C & RHW-8C.  These will be the puzzle piece starters to give you access to more lanes from the default RHW-4.

RHW-4 > RHW-6C Starter Piece:

RHW-4 > RHW-6C Starter Piece

RHW-4 > RHW-8C Starter Piece:

RHW-4 > RHW-8C Starter Piece

Also, blahdy has a few shots of the RHW-4 > RHW-8C in 3dsMax, so, he'll be along shortly to post them I hope.

rickmastfan67: Great! Very Nice! One question though, is it possible to have the roadway curve along with the left shoulder rather that ending upbruptly? I dont know how to mod or BAT so I was just wondering. Other than that, its GREAT!!!

also, would it be possible to make a ramp go into the transition? In other words, the added lane comes from the exit rather than out of nowhere?

rickmastfan67: Great work on those transitions!

However, the RHW-8C to RHW-4 transition seems a little too... how do you say... tacky.   I would recommend a RHW-8C to RHW-6C transition, and then, use the RHW-6C to RHW-4 transition.

Also, like simzebu stated, a ramp or entrance/exiting lane to a road/oneway road would also work.  Heres some work I did with the Multi-RHW (RHW-8) with a transition to a RHW-4 with oneway roads acting as entrance/exit ramps.

As always, this IS supportive feedback... Don't take anything too seriously, the work you have done with the transitions are great rickmastfan67, and I like to see what members are contributing to the RHW.

This network will Change SC4 Forever!

  Keep it up RHW team!44.gif

It doesn't always happen.  I based the two puzzle pieces you see in this thread on real-life stretches of road that I've personally traveled on.  For the RHW-4 to RHW-8C, I based that off of two different segments on I-77 in NC and SC. Based them both sides on SB I-77's design and added a little bit of a personal flare to them.  Plus on the merge from 4 to 2 lanes, I made that shorter than what it looks like in real life because I don't think anybody would want a 3x30 puzzle piece that they couldn't add any off-ramps to if SC4 would have allowed it. LOL.  Anyways, here's the Sat images of those areas:

http://maps.google.com/?om=1&ie=UTF8&t=k&ll=35.381291,-80.849022&spn=0.003998,0.007231&z=17 > I-77 NC

For the RHW-4 to RHW-6C, I made it similar to the other piece.  But with the RHW-6C to RHW-8C piece, I do plan on making the left shoulder follow the yellow line.

See above.

That would be more possible with the normal RHW-6 and RHW-8 than the "C" versions.  But I will not rule them out getting added.

Hendrik K: As of now, that is not possible. The RHW derives from the ANT (additional network tool) that Maxis did not develop for their abandoned dirt road network, thus its path wasn't incorporated into the game's transportation map. I am not too sure if this can be fixed or if its hard-coded into the software.

Dunno if this has been mentioned amidst all the lingo, but I have an idea/request. Basically its a 4 lane Y.

Y.jpg

I think two pieces, about 4 tiles long and 4 wide. Gradual change from a 4 lane into two seperate 2 lanes to fork off in different directions. One peice to break it into the Y, and another to bring two parts into one 4 lane. Very common around here. That is actually a part of a Y stack that goes into a 6 lane on the right which goes down to a divided 4, then a separate 4 lane on the left.

Xyloxadoria: Theres more to it than that.   3.gif

clonedclone87: You need to download the 2-lane RHW texture that mjig_dudy made.  Draw your RHW network and it should look like that.  Without the texture, the RHW should look like a regular road if not converted into a RHW-4 network.

Download it here, and stick that sucker into your RHW folder.

It would be great if there was maybe one arrow showing you the direction, because I'm never sure, and I can only determine the direction of the roads with UDI

ElvishPresley: With newer releases of the RHW network, better drawing techniques will allow the RHW to be created more easily. If you look at the shoulder/emergency lane, it should be on the right of the roadway. That is the best way to see what direction the RHW is in as of now. For right hand driving, the Shoulder should be on the right, and for left hand driving, the shoulder should be on the left.

clonedclone87: No problem!

Can (or will) we get the highway pieces without the electronic overhead signs? The ones in most areas I'm familiar with, if they have overhead signage at all, only have the green-and-white signs for upcoming exits or towns, and the very occasional (like one every 20 miles) changeable-message lightboard.

Wow! Fantastic work rickmastfan67 and blahdy!

Hows that RHW U-drive it enabled tunnel coming along?

Oh, and ElvishPresley, no problem! It does take some getting used to... But, once you get it, there is no problem figuring out which direction the RHW is in.

That will be up to blahdy.  I've given him full control of what he wants to put up on the piece since I'm a texture guy only and don't know enough on how to get the piece correctly into 3dsMax and then to SC4.  So, all I did was the road texturing.  Which, I might add, will be getting updated sometime this week with a proper stain on the highway were the lanes start/end. 1.gif  The RHW-4>RHW-8C piece already has gotten it's updated stain since I first posted the picture of it here over the weekend.  So, if you go back one page (Page #73), you should see it updated with a stain. 2.gif
