Fixed!!!

I reinstalled the Gmax and BAT4Max. I think last time I probably installed BAT4Max before the BAT, so it didn't update.

Alright, me again, I think no one has so many bugs as I do :(

 

Habib's is completely done, I already exported it in the SD versions and it looks fine, but I will do HD version as well, and there is the problem. First I used the same custom LODs I used to export the SD version, and then, in the Lot Editor the bug appears, it's in zoom 5 and 6, the other zooms are fine.

Already tried to do custom LODs again, then I tried to do the automatic LODs, deleted the lights, reseted the cameras, and nothing fix this. Anyone know how to fix this? I would be grateful.

I have the same problems,in zoom3 or zoom4, I use 3dmax2012 and bat5max5.

Finally it works well with 3dmax2012, there are some tips that we should follow.

And Zoom1 or zoom2 are not very good, we could use zoom3 to replace zoom1 and zoom2.

According to the info at the start of this thread:

 

"Core functionality of this version of Bat4Max is compatible with 3ds Max 7 -2011. Some of the features require newer versions of 3ds Max. Recommended version of 3ds max 2010 and newer. Both Mental Ray and Scanline (for basic functionality) are supported. 3rd party renderer support (V-ray, FinalRender etc) is untested."

 

I suppose this technically means yes, but the more advanced functions may not work on versions prior to 3ds Max 2010.

I don't remember what the solution is, but I think that's a common problem that has been asked about and answered in this thread before. 

 

Also I use 2012 too, and the newer versions don't do much more, so don't feel like you're missing out by not having a newer version. :)

File writing errors are normally due to UAC restrictions introduced with Windows Vista, 7 and 8. Make sure you are running 3DS MAX in Administrator mode and see if this fixes the problem.

  1. To run in administrator mode you will need to have the 3DS Max launch icon on your desktop, right-click and select 'Run as administrator'.
  2. For best results, right-click the icon, select 'Properties', go to the 'Compatibility' tab, and tick the check-box labelled 'Run this program as an administrator'. This will make it permanent.

This fixes most of these types of errors, you should do this anyway, even if it doesn't fix this particular error.

Hello everyone,

I have another problem, when i render my model, in the render the building seems microscopic!! i can't see anything :(

Please need help because i can't correct my mistakes unless this problem has been solved!

Check if you're using metric system to make your model and if it is in the right measures.

If you really see nothing, then it can be some problem with the LODs I think. If you're doing automatic LODs try to redo them,  if you made them and later changed the position of the building it will probably show you nothing or just a piece of the building.

My metric is system is in meters! 

And if i redo auto lods then still the problem occurs

Before you created the .SC4model file in gmax did you open the preview tab and select HDoutput?

Probably is this then, but this option doesn't exists on my Gmax o.O

There's an update or something to do  it? As far as I know is just install the BAT tool with Gmax. I'm lost  :lost:

Don't know why this isn't working for me. I don't have the HDoutput option in SC4BAT so I re-downloaded and reinstalled Gmax, SC4BAT and then BAT4Max in that exact order - still not there. Any idea what I'm doing wrong here?

Hello,
I'm having the distorted BAT issue. I had it with Porthos Building as well but after trying to export again and again it worked. But this time I already tried to do it 5 times and no good results. It's happening only in zoom 3 in South and North. I have ID fix, I tried to re-do the LODs, reset the cameras, merge scenes and nothing works. I didn't tried the ilive's reader because I have no idea how to use it and at the moment I can't learn. Does anyone know if there is another way to fix this?

Today morning I tried to deal with the ilive's reader, but when I open the file the V values can't be doubled or some of them will exceed 1.0, and jason said it has to be between 0 and 1 :(

Is there any possibility that the LODs are incorrectly scaled? You need to make sure HD is selected when exporting the LODs in SC4 BAT if your model is also HD. By that rationale if your model was SD, but the LODs in HD, that could also be causing the issue here.

Everything is in SD, I checked it. Just 2 views in zoom 3 are showing this issue.
I think the values are correct, because I can't double them:

Editing: I realized there were two cameras I've never seen before "Camera001" and other I don't remember the name. I opened other models I have in 3ds Max and none of them have these cameras, so I deleted it and tried to export again. The BAT is not distorted anymore, but now it just won't appear in the same angles (zoom 3 South and North).

I think I have a big problem now. I finished the daytime version of Maracanã and tried to export it with automatic LODs just to see it in game, however Gmax won't export them, it just gets stuck in the first view and hours later shows me the message of Export Failed, error 6. Does anybody knows if there's a way to render it yet?

According to some old forum post, there's supposedly a link to download 3DS Max 2012 from the Autodesk website...but so far I can't find anything. Any help?

Autodesk usually only provide the last couple versions of their software for use. I don't think 2012 would still be available.

I'm noticing that an awful lot of maxisnite renders (for lots of stuff that have been released) are a bit too dark, and some are so different from the maxis vanilla that they're at the limit of being usable.

I now that it migth be a bit late to report that... but better late than never. I will make some caps to illustrate the problem.

I've noticed that as well and what I think it is is the materials themselves. How the materials react to light hitting them depends on how bright or dark they are and what their reflectivity is, so changing the lighting conditions won't make all materials get darker equally. 

There are also other factors, like ground planes bouncing light upwards, the brightness/darkness of the ground plane. I think it's basically just the trade off from having realistically behaving lighting.

Right !!!

It's a bit sad that in some cases the result is not very good for the game, or that some batters haven't tried to make it less noticeable (by tweaking their night textures.)

But well, good batters seem to care... others seem to post stuff and fly away.

@Ceafus 88 - Everything I've heard so far implies that BAT4Max is at the very least partially incompatible with 3ds Max 2017. Unfortunately BATting has a bleak future if nobody comes up with a solution. I believe someone on SC4D said it's still technically possible, but you have to set a bunch of stuff up manually and do other stuff related to fsh files manually.
