Are Elevated Rail over Avenue pieces possible?

Something like this perhaps?

MRT.jpg

And no, that isn't a one way road as you can see here:

edsa01.jpg

DAMN! That's some gnarly traffic there.

I imagine you can simulate that by putting an elevated rail network between two NWM one-way roads. However, what would be nice is some sort of skin for elevated rail that looks like that vertical wall embankment. Or, a skin that looks more like the ironwork of the New York or Chicago elevated railroads. I think that is beyond the scope of this thread, though.

This is the Philippine traffic. EDSA traffic.

Question: Is there any natural curves planned for streets/SAM??

Would love to be able to this:

There are some wide radius curves for both the default Streets and some of the SAM Streets (Sets 3, 4, and 7, as I recall). The default Street pieces are in the NAM, and under the Road Curves/FAR button. The SAM wide radius curves are actually included in the lesser-known Rural Roads Plugin (RuRP). We plan to move them over to the SAM proper for the SAM Version 4 release, which will take place some time after NAM Version 30.

I just love those two loop back/turn around puzzle pieces for the GLR that allows for looping back or u-turning for GLR trams. Could those pieces be implemented for heavy rail, monorail & Elevated rail networks as well?

And one thing I've been wondering for some time now is how come we can't make 90 degree corners with El-Rail but can with GLR? I know that the GLR is a special network you folks have created outside the original game's code so does that mean making it possible to make 90 degree turns for El-Rail is difficult because El-Rail's mechanisms are hard coded in the game's code?

Oh & Tarkus I've stumbled upon your Youtube preview Videos for the upcoming new versions of NAM, the RHW & the NWM & let me say the upcoming versions are beyond awesome! :thumb:

1. There was a lot-based equivalent of the GLR "Loopback" piece for Rail, El Rail, and Monorail somewhere on the STEX. Kinda ugly to drive through, but they work (for UDI only). I don't have the direct link for it, though...

2. I believe I can pinpoint the reason why ELR can't make a true 90-deg curve: It's hardcoded into this weird thing called "Realism" (Do you WANT to risk derailing yourself on such a short-radius curve, especially on an elevated network, where you have an inherent risk of falling?!!). However, the defunct ELR 90-deg thingie has been RUL'd in for more reasons than one (It's actually a diagonal RHW-4 starter).

Good point regarding realism, plus El-Rail system in the real world often make use of junction switches at the end of the track then using the engine at the opposite end of the train cars to run in reverse so to speak to switch to & travel on the opposite track. Too bad this functionality was left out by the game's programmers or at least make it so trains can back up & drive in reverse.

    Perhaps the Rail U Turn?

Normally, I would agree with this point - but the Chicago L system does make 90-degree turns over roads.

Off topic question: Scott I'm not from the United States but I once saw the Chicago L System a lot on the late 90's show "Early Edition":

And I liked how the platforms on every station have wooden floors as if they were on waterfront property. Does the L System still look like this today? Oh & is the Bar that the show used McGinty's still there?

Yes, the L platforms still have wooden floors.

I had to look up the Early Edition show and the building used as McGinty's bar, but the building is still there. It is actually an old fire station built in 1887. Beautiful building! It's not occupied now, but I'm sure that will change soon since it is in a popular neighborhood.

What I always wanted in the TUleps was a blank median. Something like this I made in Paint?

    median.png

So there would be double yellow lines on each side with maybe some diagonal yellow lines too, but without it being the "centerlane only" type piece. Like an avenue without the grass puzzle piece in the Turning Lane Menu.

Edit: Here is a better picture

Before I mouth off my requests I will bow down and pay tribute to the mighty NAM gods who have kept this game alive for so long!

Here's my humble request. Is It possible to get an Elevated rail over Road puzzle peice crossing over a ground highway or RHW? Or is three layer networks impossible?

Heres A pic. This monstrosity of infrastructure is located at the base of the Triboro bridge approach on the Queens side.

(Cant get the thing to show up on the site keep getting red "X"s just follow the link)

Ignore the station, that could probably be done with overhanging models.

Love the nam. I would say for a later addition, maybe think about letting TLA-6 and many other NWM pieces to go over any highway but maxis? That's all. And for RHW the only things I would say to work on is how to make a realistic T intersection and letting us be able to make a highway over highway intersection where you can make something better than a clover leaf. Here's a 4 way intersection I want: sueshow1.jpg and you should know what a T intersection looks like. I just want the T to be possible, even though I may never do something like that, but I'd love a 4 way intersection like that picture. :thumb:

I just installed the new NAM, RHW, and NWM. I noticed when I went into the menus that there were duplicate windows, like two windows for RHW starter pieces and other things. Is this a glitch?

That could mean that you have 2 of each mod installed or the installers didn't overwrite the old mods. Look in your plugins folder and see if this is what has happened.

I haven't read this entire thread so please forgive me if im asking something that already has been asked.

Could you please make the already existing elevated rail over road corner only instead of a curved road with a 4-way intersection and a T-intersection.

Just like the curve in the Chicago L on the corner of E Lake St and N Wabash Ave.

I would really appreciate it cuz it is kinda the only reason why i don't use the elevated rail over road...

    thnx!!

You can already do this using the "Elevated Rail on Road - Straight Road. 45 Degree access LightRail piece." Just put two of them together. That's what I've done in my Chicago reconstruction, and the L train curve over the corner of E Lake St and N Wabash Ave. looks just as it should.

I've really been enjoying the new NAM series! In particular, RHW has some great new pieces that I've been wanting to have for a while. I'm glad to see that ERHW-6S is draggable over MAVE-6; however, if I drag two in opposite directions with a tile in between, the MAVE-6 reverts to a road under the overpass and on the tile in between. The MAVE-6 works fine with ERHW-4, so it's not a big deal, but it would be nice to see some more stability for these types of crossings in future versions. Is this a possibility?

I've recently gotten addicted to the CAN-AM & am hoping someday NWM & RHW interface pieces would be developed for it as I'd like to make it so I can either create a sunken canal crossing an RHW Network, or make an elevated RWH Network cross directly above a non-sunken canal :)
