I was doing some BAT thread reminiscing earlier and its amazing how many awesome BATers and contributors have dropped off the face off the Simearth in the past couple of years...

Its super cool that we still have the likes of Jason, Nofunk, Mattb, Seraf, JP Schriefer, IDS, Bipin, Xylo and occasionally Girafe still flying the flag...I do wonder what happened to the below and whether they or their amazing works will resurface. So here's to some of my all time faves who have mysteriously just disappeared from the BAT scene...

These are great, almost enough to inspire me to play SC4 again. Obviously if they were released, it would definitely be exciting enough to play SC4 again :)

So while looking at any BATs I've made, I came across this wall, which by the name of the file, was supposed to be an office building based around some in Farmers Branch/Addison, Texas. I might continue it someday, but probably not. But if I had finished it, it would have been similar to MadHatter's Midrise Packs.

That's a long list indeed. You can perhaps add to it all the talented Japanese BATers like APTX, NOB and KS.

Some of these people are still active on other websites. I will not say who or where because I don't want to see people harassing them about unreleased masterpieces. Seems they decided to leave the SC4 scene for good. At least these guys didn't pull a Gobias.

I know it was not the intention but placed this way seems a bit of condemnation to an attitude whose arbitrariness should fit only to him and that in my opinion should not be judged by anyone

Just as I have saved many of the fantastic works of creators cited above and are still available have also made for others whose connections were lost as well as  the Gobias works were also available for save while he wanted it

Because some needed his work to call attention to the own work should not become reason for the attitudes of the Gobias should now be stereotyped as a model of what is harmful and should be rejected by all, not agree?

There are a lot of really great BATters, it's a shame mattb has stopped (or taken a hiatus i know what how what he's going through feels) BATting, but personally my favorite content creators have been Girafe, Mattb325 (all time), nofunk, rivit, nos.17, jason, aaron, bipin (nice guy and great batter yet his grungry smokestack base textures don't work and i get that annoying missing floor glitch), bixel's modelling, and SG's modelling (modelling specifically because sometimes the lots were a bit eh but the models are always fantastic), MGB, simfox... a lot of people have a spot in my plugins folders where i have all their stuff (by spot i mean i just have all their stuff my plugins folder is equivalent to a 7 year old spoiled kid who doesn't clean his room lol that messy). it must be a great feeling looking at your buildings in simcity 4 and how superior they look to the official maxis creations.

edit: I FORGOT JP SCHRIEFER

I miss Reddonquixote work, and I don't know if Redd take a large hiatus. It seems like he do it.

He's only on SC4Devotion now. He doesn't update his thread there for a while, but he's often online.

Such a shame you never released some of these, the row shops would have been ideal. Would they be far off prepping for release? Or if you ever wanted to 'abandon them' so somebody could render them for personal use ;)

Good to see you back on the forum regardless!!! :):)

The sadness is too much to bear... I wish more BATers would find a suitable person to finish their unfinished works when they quit modeling instead of abandoning them entirely. This thread is such a sad thread.

You only have to look at the models that were released unfinished to get an idea why this doesn't happen very much.

Most people who BAT aren't interested in picking up other models, they'd rather work on their own projects. However, I like to reuse or resuscitate where I can, I've a few more gems in my inbox to work through.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

I think it was meant that people who have no intention of finishing could give to a decent batter to finish, rather than releasing an unfinished model. I know I'd happily help finish off some BATs and credit the creator.

I know I had good fun with some of Xannepans Paris models, bringing them over from scanline to MR and Bat4Max...

I loved Sam Johnsons work, although his colour pallete was sometimes a little too dark. Anyone know what happened to him?
